Food is not that great. Bathrooms are disgusting and the dining area needs an upgrade and good cleaning. Only good thing is it close the I-40

Got here late on February 3rd on my way to New Mexico. I have never been to a WHATABURGER. Decided to swing in and see what the fuss was. Place was empty… and I ordered a patty melt to go. Exceeded my expectations. So good, I wanted another… but at about 2000 calories that would have been bad. Fries were much better than I had hoped for. Overall…surprising.

Liked: onion rings, customer service, spicy ketchup, and super clean bathrooms. Burger would have been great if not for so much mustard on it. Guess I’m used to California style burgers ?? Chicken strips were good too.

As MN residents, Whataburger isn’t a regular stop for us. So we like to stop at one on our road trips. Went to this location on a Monday right before the lunch rush. 2 adults and 2 kids ordered a variety of items. It came out exactly right, hot and tasty. Kids devoured their grilled cheese and chicken sandwiches. Grownups had green chili burgers and they were awesome. Restaurant was clean and well kept up. Staff was nice. It was easy access from I-40.

Food was good as it usually is at a Braum’s. But the women’s restroom didn’t have a diaper changer and neither did the mens. I had to change my baby on the floor.(I do have a mat for situations like this) but every other major restaurant chain that I have been in has a diaper changer in the bathroom. Also one of the lights was flickering and made it hard to see.

We stopped here on our way home from vacation. Staff not real friendly, burgers were so-so, the fries were lukewarm and tasted like they had been under the heat lamp for a while. My shake was pretty good but my husband’s tasted like a mixture of chocolate and strawberry. We wouldn’t recommend. Not a big eater of fast food anyway.

Took forever to get our food and we were the only guests there. The food was mediocre cold and stale and their famous spicy ketchup is not spicy at all.

Before you ever go to a Whataburger, ANY Whataburger, know this. They are universally the slowest fast food burger chain on the planet. Part of this is because they make your food to order rather than have a dozen burgers stagnating under heat lamps, and the rest can be blamed on the staff which often seem to share a two digit IQ between the entire lot of them. Since the burgers are always awesome I overlook the antics of the trained monkeys that work there. Its location makes it an easy off and on from I40, and for Whataburgers I’ve found it to be surprisingly quick to deliver. The burgers dwarf those put out by the clown, the king, and the pigtailed redhead, and the patties are actual meat as opposed to the soybean/pink slime mix some places pass off as hamburger. The green chili double is to die for, and if you’re feeling particularly piggy the shakes are perfect every time. I eat here maybe once a month and the food has always been great.

One of the best options for amarillo. Easy on off access from the highway, fresh food, clean restrooms. Got a small piece of grass if you’re traveling with pets. Be sure to try the famous Whataburger spicy ketchup!

Ok here’s my take … The food is ok as a whole. The green chili was good, the rest of the burger is ok. The staff is out of control; loud and goofing off with their friends. Not very professional. If I owed this place the manager would be fired for not teaching the employs not to run around the restaurant like high school kids …

Man, I love Whataburger. However, living about 1500 miles from the nearest one means that I very rarely get the opportunity to go to one, since I almost never go to Texas. Having grown up in Southern California, people have told me that Whataburger is very similar to In N Out Burger. To be honest, they really don’t have much in common besides the fact that they serve burgers, but I still think they are both great in their own way. Don’t come here expecting In N Out, because you’ll be very disappointed and possibly irate(as I noticed several people were). What I love about Whataburger is the variety on their menu, which has everything from onion rings, shakes, green chili burgers and breakfast sandwiches. The quality of the meat is significantly better than most fast food chains, and I assume this is because they are closer to supplies of good quality meat in Texas(good ranching land). The original Whataburger burger is a great sandwich, and comparable to a Double Double when made properly. I have also tried their french fries and onion rings, and they always turn out the right consistency. The breakfast sandwiches are made with real fried eggs, instead of those oddly shaped round eggs they use in McDonald’s sandwiches. The bacon is also nicely crisp, and the breakfast menu is served from 11PM to 11AM. Great for late night eating, and the breakfast is served along with regular menu items. When I drive along Interstate 40, I always make sure to stop at this location since it is very conveniently located and easy to access. I just wish they would build locations in New York state and California.

Only gave it 1 star since it makes you. This location was horrible. We just drove many hundreds of miles to get to armarillo and decided to get a burger one last time. We walk in and were not greeted, 13 employees were working and not one was trying?. That’s sad. Also why do they need that many employees on clock or there?. That’s just wasted money specially if only 3 – 4 were doing anything. My boyfriend orders his favorite Monterey melt burger by itself, I changed my mind inside and got the whatachicken bites with gravy and asked if I could get honey mustard aswell(as in would I be charged) she said«yeah» which I thought I was getting it aswell no charge :((I look at the receipt and I was charged 35c. The gravy was so watered down I couldn’t even dip the chicken in it to get any on the chicken it just soaked the chicken and made it wet.(Super disappointed). My boyfriends Monterey melt had 1 grilled onion and 2 peppers??? Wtf, cheap or lazy?. So he is irritated at this point takes the burger up to the register(no one is there!!) but three employees(I guess off the clock) just sitting in a booth in front by the register. After walking into the kitchen he finally got an employees attention and pointed out the the portion size of the onions and peppers are incorrect and almost nonexistent.(by the way we are both experienced certified food safety managers and this place was a joke!) he proceeds to request more peppers and onions on the side. Once it came, he gladly adds it to the Burger and let’s me try the first bite. I take a bite and it is definitely not as I remembered it tasted salty and just not the same, I passed the burger back and hoped he didn’t taste the same(don’t know if I can handle any more). He takes his bite and and his face just sinks to an unpleasant disgusted gesture says«that’s fucking gross», «that’s not how a Whataburger Monterey melt suppose to taste like». It was all super greasy almost a old burnt used cooking oil flavor, and way to salty. And idk about the jalapeño ranch it was also skimp and had an off flavor(maybe by all the extra grease salt crap but not sure). After this I see he’s even more annoyed angry, sad(like a little kid who dropped his ice cream but only it was smacked out of his hand) so I freaked out took the burger and waited in line I ask the lady if I can speak to the manager(same lady who took our order). I explained that«he did not like how the burger tasted and it did not taste like it was meant too. I just want the money back all we wanted was whataburger one last time and it should be the same quality/consistency no matter which location! It is NOT hard to make a burger, you take steps and do it as if you would like(a damn tasty meal, not splat some shit on there and skim people). The manager barely speaks or apologies to me or him for messing up twice. She takes the burger slams it into the trash goes to the back comes back gives me the money. I leave the gravy, drink and everything else because it was gross! I know this may sound funny but when you love and appreciate food you expect others do aswell. I’m so sad and hungry now but I don’t think we will ever visit any location for a while.

We do not have these in MI… so when we got a flat tire during our cross country move, I went here to get something to eat… I figured try something new. I am sooo glad I did! I love, love, love the green chili double. Two beef patties topped with Monterrey jack, American cheese and roasted green chilies. It is not spicy at all… but it is hefty… so be hungry. I took one bite and I was in love. I thought to myself, why have I never thought of this before and then I thought, every burger should be topped with roasted green chilies!!! I only ate half because I wanted to savor it… sadly, Spunky, my chihuahua, devoured it with a big waggy tail. The fries were thin, just how I like them. You order out front and they give you a number… then they bring you your food(took about 12 minutes)…then they come around with a condiment tray… they even offered to refill my beverage. I really hope they add the burger to their permanent menu!

We had never had Whataburger because we don’t have them near us. So, while on vacation, my fiancé was excited to try it. The service was terrible! It was the slowest fast food I have ever had. We went in and ordered at the counter. I ordered a burger light on the mustard with ketchup. The guy took our order and rang us up and told us to have a seat and they would bring it when it was ready. So far, so good, right? The food came out a little bit later and the girl who brought it asked if we would like some ketchup for our fries. We said«yes, please» and then we reminded her that we had also ordered a lemon pie(one of those typical fast food pies, but they had a limited time lemon flavor). She apologized half heartedly and said she would bring it out along with some ketchup. So, we waited… and waited… I ate some fries… and some more fries… and still no ketchup. Oh, and my burger had extra mustard. I would in no way call that«light on the mustard». So, after we were finished eating our food(with no ketchup), my fiancé went up and asked if we could get our lemon pie. She apologized again and said she would bring it out. So, we waited… and waited… and waited some more(probably about 15 minutes from the time he asked). So, he went up again for the pie. This time she put it in the fryer right away and once again gave a really empty apology. Now, if they were really busy, I could see how this could happen. But, they were not. There were the two of us and one group of four inside and I didn’t really see cars driving to the drive through. Plus, there were at least 4 people working in the back. Now, for a fast food chain that advertises their ketchup and even has a ketchup shirt available, what would be wrong with giving us a little ketchup for our fries? Or, how about putting some out and we can get it ourselves? So, in conclusion, the food was ok(Culver’s from back home is 100% better, or even the golden arches would be several steps up). The service, however, was a complete fail. We will not be back to any Whataburger until pigs fly.

Um, yes, you can get mayo on your burger here(think ‘salad dressing’) — I would not compare Whataburger to In-N-Out, but would take a Whataburger any day! Show me a better fast food burger and I’ll eat it!

Somebody told us to try whataburger because they said«its just like in-n-out in california». Really? I love in-n-out and there’s another just like it? Let’s see about that! So off we went to try out whataburger to see if it could even compare to in-n-out. Judgement: FAILURE! In fact, this was the worst fast food burger joint we have ever had. First of all, stay away from this joint if you do not like mustard. I don’t like mustard and yes, you can tell them to not add it, but the other options they gave me were just as terrible. They don’t do mayo here so I was left with the option of ‘dry’(yes those were their words), or to add one of their other sauces: bbq, ranch, or honey mustard.(once again, yet ANOTHER mustard option for the non-mustard eater). I’m not fond of those other choices and opted for dry since I had no choice. They weren’t kidding about ‘dry’. It really was dry and tasteless. Yes this place allows you to customize. But the options are terrible. At least you can get grilled onions. One star for that. Other than that, I don’t think in-n-out has anything to worry about. I don’t know what that person was smoking when he arrived at the conclusion that whataburger = in-n-out. But whatever it was, I’d like me some of that too cause it can turn the taste of garbage into gold.
