I have never thought to give a police Department an online review but well, I’m doing it. I am from the Jersey Shore where no one ever calls the police for anything. The police there where I lived were terrifying and seldom helpful. The Amherst Police are so different than any police force I have ever seen in my life (I am 46). I have been here for almost ten years and I have never heard of anyone here being fined for anything they didn’t do. Also take into account that there are 3 huge colleges here so the level of student based shenanigans is rather high. Many people who live here leave their doors open (stupid idea) because it is so safe. In any care the level of competence, professionalism, understanding and upholding of the law is like really high. I have never felt more safe in a place ever in my life. I love our police department. They rock. Sometimes I get them Starbucks cards for x mas.
