Had dinner here Friday night. Shrimp and grits was awesome! My husband’s steak was perfect! He orders his filet medium well so that’s hard to do! Nice to have a good restaurant close to home! My only recommendation is to paint the dining room a darker warm color, lower the lights and turn on some music.

I’ve loved the cellar for a long time. It was bought out a year or two ago and went down hill VERY quickly. Apparently it has been bought back by the original owner and its back to being a top place to eat in Idaho Falls. The steak was great, bacon wrapped dates were delicious. They have a fantastic cheese platter and the tomato soup is back and fantastic. They only part the need to work on is their servers keeping drinks filled. My wife and I were the only couple in the restaurant and our drinks were empty for a good 10 minutes. In Conclusion: It is safe to return to the cellar. Food is GREAT, Service needs a little work. Ambiance is fantastic

ATTENTION: NEWOWNER. OLDOWNERSUCKED. THISPLACEISTHESHIT. OLDPLACEWASSHIT. EATHERE. YOULIKE. I’m a Seattleite traveling through Idaho on business this last week and it hasn’t been a great experience in terms of dining options. I decided to treat myself tonight and set Unilocal to only search for restaurants with 3 or 4 dollar signs. Only The Cellar and a Japanese restaurant came up, so, being from Seattle where the sushi is plentiful, I decided on steak. If you’ve ever dined in Seattle or Portland, you’ll know that we have some of the best food in the US. The Cellar would easily fit in there, and I’m very happy I went. In addition to the amazing food, the service was friendly and prompt. Highly recommended.

Excellent choice for upscale dining. Compared with some of the best places I’ve fined on across the country. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll be pleasantly surprised from started thru desert. Enjoy!

They’re back. Truly fabulous meals as of late. Service has been impeccable. Get away from the corporate gruel and relax here for an evening. Truly enjoyed the house red.

Went to dinner here and we had the filets and salmon… they were all awesome. If you want a place that has a great steak dinner this is it! The staff was super friendly too. The desserts were also great! Oh and they have the best hummus appetizer platter! Would go here again! Oh and the new owners don’t charge extra for the sides(they are included with the entrées)

So here’s the deal. There is new ownership again who took over around New Year’s 2015. That said, I think any of those negative reviews should not be applied to this new owner. I am from another state and travel on business EVERY week. All I can say is that I WISH I could find or place«the Cellar» everywhere I go! This place is honestly fantastic. My coworker and I shared the hummus plate and man were those veggies fresh, hummus great and the bread– OHTHEBREAD– was superb! For the meal, I got the chicken with orzo. The orzo was cooked perfectly and so flavorful! The capers added some salt to the chicken as did the bacon! Yes, it was amazing and I would do it again and again. My coworker got the pasta with vodka and it too had such a great tasting sauce! I really really enjoyed this place! Oh! The GM Clara is the absolute PERFECT person for this establishment. She was warm and friendly, dressed so beautifully and her smile was the icing on the cake! She is a beautiful host!!! Stop on in! You won’t be sorry. Great food, Great service! And I am not in anyway compensated for this review not related to anyone at this establishment. This is just me-being honest!!!

First, a disclaimer. I have only been here once, on a weekday, and for most of the meal we had the main dining room to ourselves. So I can’t speak to how this place is when it’s busy. That being said, the atmosphere’s romantic, the service is good, and the food is fantastic. We ordered the hummus platter, which was large and excellent and came with a variety of excellent food to dip, the red snapper entrée, which was delicious(the garlic bean side was also first rate), and the house salad. The only downside is the cost(most entrees are between $ 20 and $ 30). The house salad was good but not great, but it was a fairly large salad and it was only $ 5. Overall, I definitely recommend this place for special occasions. Some of the best food in Idaho Falls.

Wonderful evening with our party of seven at the Cellar tonight. The service was great and the food was very good. We have lived in Seattle and know our salmon and I was surprised at how fresh and well prepared the horseradish salmon was tonight, being so far from the coast. Dessert options included a crêpe cake, carrot cake, crime brûlée, and others — also very good. The ambiance is quiet, inviting, and relaxing. I’ve read some of the negative reviews here and perhaps those were off nights. It’s worth a try if you’ve never been and if you had a bad experience, give it another try.

Better than all other prior experiences eating here. The new guy, Brian is great. The meatballs, tomato Gorgonzola soup and Idaho vodka pasta are our favorites. We enjoy the enclosed patio for the ambience.

We just moved to Idaho Falls from a city of 1.5 million+… needless to say, the restaurant options here aren’t nearly the same as «home», but we went to The Cellar last week and were very impressed with the caliber of the service and the food. We had the salmon, the pork, and a salad along with a «side» of pasta with an Idaho-Potato Vodka sauce. Now, the sauce was more like an alfredo(no tomato present), but it was still delicious and we ate every bite! The server was very professional and answered any and all of our questions from the menu. Lastly, and I thought most impressive of all, the chef himself came around and greeted each table & asked how everything was. While every restaurant has their potential«night-off» — hence the occasionally terrible review on Unilocal, everything we experienced was beyond what we expected to find in Idaho Falls, and would still warrant a 4 star rating in a much larger city! Bravo!

Me and my husband went here and loved it stake and stake sause was awesome there miso soup was to die for. Could have had a better music system but the food was great. On the expensive side but none the less the food was well well worth it. Will definitely be going back again.

We went to try something different. Food quality was poor. We had the horseradish salmon and the chicken. The chicken was dry and had no flavor. The salmon had no flavor at all. The salad was supposed to be blue cheese dressing but I couldn’t see nor taste any salad dressing. They want to be a fancy restaurant but are lacking in so many areas. Most of the guests had to put their coats on because it was so cold in side. The carpet is warn out and stained the. Floor heat cents are dented and caving in. For what they charge in food I would have expected a better quality food and atmosphere.

23.00 for a steak and no sides, sides are charged extra. Come on now, I know beef prices have gone up, but really. Service was so, so. Steak was not that great, flavor was just a bit dry. Asked for a house salad with ranch dressing… where is the dressing, was told it just gets a light dusting, well that light dusting just left the salad tasting very dry. Refill on my drink finally came as I was putting on my coat to leave. The only part that was enjoyable about this night was the couple who was the entertainment for the evening… five stars for them, one star for the food and service. New ownership, get a grip, it is worse then the last owners.

A true diamond in the rough. The Cellar came highly recommended to me by my boss who claimed it was the best restaurant in all of Idaho Falls. He couldn’t have been more right. The Cellar just has it all; great ambiance, wine selection, a menu stacked with so many tasty dishes that you just can’t decide what to order. The staff was beyond nice and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Scott. There’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing someone love what they do. I could tell from talking with Scott that he loved his restaurant and was genuinely happy to have you stop by and visit. I appreciated getting to pick his brain and learn a little more about the restaurant and its history. In town for work, I was dining solo so I sat up at the bar and was greeted with a glass of water before I even had to ask, I like that. Happy hour runs from 5 to 7 during the weekdays which offer a bunch of apps at $ 5 and drink specials. I chatted with the bartender about drinks because I was being tempted by all the Buffalo Trace paraphernalia but decided to stick to wine since my boss raved about their wine list. As another reviewer commented below, they offer a few wines by the glass, so come with a friend if you wanna try a bottle. My first glass was the Bearboat Pinot Noir which was light bodied with a nice mellow berry flavor, but not exactly what I was looking for. Wanting to take advantage of the happy hour, I ordered the hoisin bbq confit chicken drumsticks. I swear, i’m addicted to BBQ sauce, I would drink it if it were socially acceptable. Three frenched drumsticks with a side of blue cheese arrive and I quickly dive in. What I liked about having the drumstick over a drumette or wing section is that you get a few bites out each of them and I prefer the meatier flavor. The hoisin sauce has a strong honey flavor and kept me dipping after each bite. Next up, I order a glass of the Dark Horse cab sav. At the first sip, your mouth will water with the amount of fruit flavor going on. I really enjoy bold and bright flavors and this wine does not disappoint. My girl and I bought a bottle of this stuff at Trader Joe’s for under $ 10 back home, if you see it, grab it. I order the Wednesday night special for dinner, Prime Rib. I was told that I better order quick because they typically run out. WIth your entrée, you have the choice of soup or salad, I went with the salad but regretted not asking what the soup of the day was. My brain typically rules out soup while i’m at a restaurant because I just always assume that it’s out of a can and probably sucks. I find out later that the soup d’jour is potato watercress… when in rome! The prime rib is ridiculous. I ordered the 8oz thinking I wouldn’t be that hungry since I already had the drumsticks but this thing looked like it was twice the size of what was advertised. Served perfectly medium rare and acting as a blanket for the asparagus and mashed potatoes underneath with a hearty side of au jus and horseradish sauce. The meat was tender with each bite, I didn’t want it to end. Sadly, I couldn’t finish it, just too much food. I had to turn over my membership card to the Clean Plate Club. Whomp. I really enjoyed every experience at The Cellar and couldn’t even be able to tell you what I’d change. Definitely looking forward to coming back! If you read this whole review, cheers!
