Chowking is fairly average to me at best. My Filipino friend tells me its very popular back home for him so he kinda wanted me to give it a shot seeing as how I like trying new things and always down to eat something new. Lets just say I don’t really wanna hurt his feelings but the place was just not doing it for me. The boba was pretty good though but that was about it. The siopao which he highly recommended to me wasn’t overly great. Actually after a couple of bites I kinda spat it out. He really enjoyed it though. I loved the exterior of the bun but the interior was not that good at all. It was a bit too sweet and salty and the meat was not that good to me. The garlic fried chicken was one I was kinda hyped about. I love garlic and friend chicken so it was only natural that the two mixed together would create something enjoyable for me. Nope, it wasn’t bad though but it wasn’t something I would get again on a consistent basis. I will say that service was very fast and quick though. They had our food ready relatively quickly but it just didn’t live up to the hype that my friend had been feeding to me. I probably won’t return. Overall it was an average breakfast. I wished I would have liked the food but alas it wasn’t that good for me. It was relatively cheap though so for the bargain eaters out there this place might not be so bad.

2 stars is for the delicious rice and siopao. Garlic fried chicken was burnt, the chicken itself was very bland and again had a burnt garlic taste.

Chowking is a Chinese place that’s famous in the Philippines. This brings me back to my childhood days! I definitely go here whenever I can because they offer rice, chicken, soup and desserts!

First of all, first time trying Filipino food. Two, the pricing here was fair for the amount of food they give you. The cashier was polite, although she kept apologizing a lot even though she hadn’t done anything wrong lol. Anyway… What I picked was a Luriat combo meal which was pretty bombskies(delicious) and I wouldn’t mind coming here again to try this out. The Luriat was pork but in the type of orange chicken almost, also came with rice, thin noodles which looked like chow mein style and 2 mini(literally) eggrolls and these two bread type of things which were filled with meat. Also had a slice of chocolate mousse cake in the bakery next door: P

One coffee refill??? Damn that’s stupid… Never coming by to this freaking store… And a very rude manager as well… Smirking… What a donkey… U can shove all that coffee to where it belongs… 1 serving of Lumpiang Shanghai was also too small not even worth the price. Never ever coming back.

I don’t know where to start. Dirty bathroom toilet paper all over, the trash can was full, No soap, no paper towels, and there was an awful odor like urine. Service was slow and unkind looks like those employees suck lemons before starting their shifts. Food is just blah nothing special or dying for. Not coming back.

Chinese food done Filipino style! Most people know that ChowKing, Red Ribbon Bakeshop, and Jollibee are owned by Filipinos, and rightfully so, because you’ll never find one without the others at any location. When you walk in to any of the stores, you’ll notice that they’re all connected to each other, so you could walk into all three shops but just entering one door! It’s pretty cool in my opinion. I’ve only tried the Asado Siopao $ 1.99, and I love it! They also have Chicken instead of Pork, but Asado is the way to go for sure. It comes with Siopao sauce, but to me, the sauce is unnecessary because the Siopao is good just on its own. I was full after eating just one, so I’m glad i didn’t order an extra. I’ve also had the Shumai, comes with 6 in a styrofoam box. I was just really craving it so I decided to get it. It’s not the best that i’ve tried, but i’ve definitely tried worse ones. Comes with a really light soy sauce that’s perfect for dipping. Next time, I really wanna try their famous rice dish: Tocino and Bangus.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. This Chowking is pretty busy, but the beef is overcooked. Not sure is it just that day or the beef is seating there too long. The rice and fish came out okay. After that we ordered Halo Halos those were good. On a nice hot day, must crave Halo Halo! Typical Chowking, nothing fancy… the floors and customer service was good. Restroom was clean. Overall average place to eat a quick lunch.

I was really craving a taste of «home» the other day & was in the area. I decided to dine-in here bc Jollibee no longer serves bangus. My only real complaint is how greasy the egg & tocino were, everything cooked right, just greasy. So I ordered the bangus & tocino breakfast with thai iced tea, no boba(they were out of soda & do not offer bottled waters). It was all cooked perfectly(I feel bad for all the previous consumers)! I hope this means there has been new management within the past month. I arrived just before the lunch rush on a weekday but their tiny space was too cramped for me to eat comfortably(and I’m not even claustrophobic). There were about two single diners & two families, extra seating but all the tables are so close in proximity. I used the restroom(everything fully stocked, functioning & clean) while I waited. My order took about 7 minutes to be made. I chose to sit in Red Ribbon. The rush of people who arrived after I did was handled professionally, in a timely manner & a few people who ordered soy chicken meals seemed to enjoy their food(not stalker-status at all a LOL). So why 3 stars? The grease really annoyed me. The tocino, thank God, was cooked thoroughly but most of the pieces were fatty. I had to stop by Starbucks next door to get something to get that off my tongue. That & the lack of spacious seating. I’d come back to try the soy chicken & maybe pick up a snack from Red Ribbon.

Chow King is not something I would of chosen to eat 2 weeks ago, because I’ve convinced myself I don’t like pork but last night I was feeling cranky, so I told the beast I wanted Chow King for dinner especially some tocino my new Love. His eyes almost popped out of his head, and had me pinch him to make sure it was true. The only thing we fight about is food, and hes starting to win the food wars by feeding me pork and beef that I dont think I like. SO we headed over there an hour before closing. Chow King, Located on Euclid in a multi Filipino housed eatery with a common walkway separating several eateries. Breakfast for dinner. I ordered the Beef Tapa served with garlic rice and a fried egg. I liked it. But, the beef was really well done, and dry and a bit chewy. My egg was very well done, the center yolk was almost boiled. If the meat was fresher and my yolk intact it would of been better. I still ate it, and got my dose of happiness from a plate of meat. Not great but not bad. My husband ordered the longanesia with fried rice and a egg. The longanesia was different. Not the typical style one is used too. He said it wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great. His egg was over cooked. We were still hungry so I went back to order a side of Tocino. The cashier said they don’t sell it by itself. So I ordered another meal with the rice and over cooked egg. The Tocino was deep fried, and the pieces were big. Again, it was nothing special. Just okay. We also had some lumpias which were very small, and just okay. Prices were about $ 4.99 a meal with a drink. Chow King, is okay in a pinch. Nothing special.

I usually try to skip places with less than 3 stars, but one day my coworker and I discovered this place after eating at Jollybee and I was drawn to their Soy chicken picture on the menu board, so today I went to get it without even checking the reviews in advance. I ordered and right after I sat down, they called my name. Super fast! When I opened the box, my chicken and white rice looked a little lonely, definitely missing something. On the picture, it shows what looks like some sort of side dish(sauce, beans or something), but I asked and they explained it was really just the soy sauce and ginger. The chicken was actually tasty. I was expecting the skin to be a little sweeter, like korean soy fried chicken, but it was still pretty good. I poured my ginger and soy sauce all over the rice and chicken and it was good. A little bit of veggies would have helped. After a while, it felt a bit dry. Got a thai iced tea that came with boba and it was good. Boba was a bit soggy. Ive also tried their ube and pandan slushies and they’re a bit too sweet for me. Service is ok. Just what you’d expect for a fast food place. For a $ 4.99 hot meal, its not the best but certainly a decent place to grab a hot meal. They also have congee, chow mein etc

Was in the area so the fam wanted Chow King. I have been to one in Las Vegas many times and have yet to have any bad experiences with food or service. Until now. Before I even ordered, I had to go to the bathroom. It is a unisex one. Definitely one of the worst bathrooms that I have ever seen restaurantwise. There were toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor. The garbage bin was overflowing. It was like a tornado formed inside there and left it that way. There was no soap to wash your hands, and of course no paper towels either. I promptly let the guys behind the counter what I saw. So we ordered the Beef Wonton and Crispy Soy Chicken. Both looked good based on the pictures they had up on the menu board. Whenever we go to the one in Vegas, we usually just get the Deep Fried Tofu and/or Siomai. As I got into the beef wonton, the noodles tasted bland and fell apart easily. The veggies were really soggy to the point that it did not have any crisp to it at all. The broth was a bit bland as well so I had to put a couple of drops of soy sauce in it. The crispy soy chicken was actually decent. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The rice and chow mein noodles that came with it were horrible. Both were dry and tasteless, like I was chewing on cardboard. I dont understand why the food was so bad. Then I started reading some of the reviews. Oh man, somebody was served raw tocino? If that is true then that alone will not make me want to eat here. At first I didnt really pay attention to the 2 star average. But after going through what I just did, I am surprised that its not a 1 star average. Eventually I lost my appetite and went to go wash my hands. The bathroom still was not attended to even after I told them about the conditions about 20 minutes ago. That’s a major fail. Memo to corporate or anybody in the higher ups, you better pay close attention to some of these reviews or eventually you will have to be shut down by the health department for just the cleanliness factor is not one of your fortes. As for me, looks like you may have just lost another customer for I am probably not gonna step foot in any of your establishments again. Unilocal 2014365 Review Challenge #128 «Chow King? You put your trust in restaurants to have high standards when it comes to food preparation. I came here on 5÷7÷2014, ordered breakfast tocino and bangus with fried rice and egg. Halfway through eating I discovered that the tocino(pork) was«NOT» thoroughly cooked, It was RAW! Not like medium rare or pink, but RAW. I had eaten about half of the portion served. It’s disgusting and upsetting, how could a business serve something that is a health hazard? I presented the uncooked pork to a manager or supervisor and all they kept saying was«sorry», «sorry»… I asked if the tocino was frozen before cooking, I was told it’s frozen, thawed then fried, with an «I think» before the answer. You think so? Having it frozen lessens the chance of live micro-organisms contaminating the food and increases my chance of survival. At about 6 hours after eating the food I ended up being sick, symptoms usually attributed to food poisoning, cramping, diarrhea etc. Two days later and no changes in symptoms, I’m heading to the doctor’s office. Whether the pork was contaminated or not, there’s no reason to serve it raw, it’s unsanitary and a health hazard. Hopefully this reaches as many people as possible and be warned. You don’t just wing it cooking pork in the fryer, you set a timer and check temperatures, that would be a start for this place. I do have a photo of the uncooked tocino and a saved my receipt. I will not be returning ever. There was another review tip on here by a user saying that they always request their tocino«pork» cooked well done because it’s not cooked thoroughly depending on the thickness of the cuts. Coincidence or low standards?

Came here for dinner. I ordered PANCITBIHON with soda $ 4.99. Wait time wasn’t bad. About 10 minutes. When my order came, I was so disappointed! There’s only like a few vegetables and some shrimp. It’s like MOSTLYPANCIT. The taste was bland and the shrimp tasted like it wasn’t cooked. It tasted so bad, I didn’t even finish it. It’s so overpriced! Also the floors are so nasty. Needs to mop! Tables are so dirty. This place gets an F minus for cleanliness.

I haven’t had halo halo since my aunt took me to try it in San Diego at Chowking. So she was craving it and told me she heard there was one in Anaheim! It’s right next to the Red Ribbon and Jollibee and parking can be pretty bad. The halo halo in my opinion was good. It didn’t really look like the picture with the nicely scooped ube ice cream. Mine was all melted… As for the things inside it, it had beans and different fruit jellies. I don’t like beans, but they were small so I didn’t taste it as much and the fruit jellies were okay. I didn’t get to try anything else, but the pictures look good! Service was okay. Kind of slow since the place wasn’t that crowded.
