Jeff Moving Storage

The reviews so far stating that this company raises prices after the fact are sadly so very true. It’s quite appalling that companies like this continue to exist. They quoted one price on the phone and afterwards, when they handed over the invoice, they had upped the price and conveniently decided to charge extra because they made the decision to bring along extra guys to do the move. Very dishonest and shady business practice.

WARNING, these guys are dishonest and scammers. I hardly know where to begin. I just checked the Better business bureau reports and now know I am not the only one Jeff’s moving and storage tried to swindle. Check out the 11 complaints and law suits filed against them. I hired Jeff’s moving and storage aka American moving and storage to move an elderly friend of mine. On moving morning they did not show up and they did not call. I kept calling but they did not answer the phone until noon and when I told Mike (the office manager) that no one had shown up he said he’d get back to me. He did not. I called several more times and left messages and finally got Mike again. He said he’d find out what was going on. I asked him if he would personally call me back. He said he would. He did not. Awhile later another Mike called me and said his guys were doing another job and could he let me know when they were done. I said I needed another group to come and get the job done. (They are supposedly a large outfit that has been in business 30 years) He said he’s get back to me. He did not. I kept calling and finally got Jeff (supposedly the owner) who said maybe they could finish up and still do it that afternoon/​evening. That he would let me know. I waited until 6:00. No call.
Believe it or not, I figured it was a company with horrifically bad customer service but they had just overbooked themselves and now that they knew my husband and I had both taken the day off work that day to get this move done for a friend, that they would surely be on their best behavior on Monday when they promised. They did finally show up and I have never seen or heard such flim flam. Mike had all these papers for me to sign, one of which was so faded and type so small I could not make it out and another had nothing on it but a place for date and signature. I explained to him that I wasn’t going to sign something when there was nothing written on the paper. So we left that for a while and he gave me the rates… that were different than the office manager (Mike) had quoted me. Also tried to talk me into a flat rate saying it would be cheaper than hourly. I said I needed to speak to his office to get the rates straight before I could sign the forms. I asked him to call his boss (Jeff) He said he’d have him call me. (not falling for that again) I again asked him to call while we were both there. He said he didn’t have the number (!!!) asked him to wait while I called his office to straighten this out. As I was making the call he went down to the truck and drove off. I reached Jeff in the office and he said he had just spoken to Mike and I didn’t sign the papers so he left. As I was explaining the situation he hung up on me.
wow — I’ve never seen anything so blatantly dishonest or heard such double talk from a group of people in my life. The office manager Mike is a good olé boy who cracks lots of jokes and tells you anything you want to hear (about what they will do) then bad mouths the others behind their backs and blames them. Truly unbelievable.
Check out the poor people who have actually used them and filed complaints with the better business bureau and taken them to court for: not showing up, charging way more than quoted, promising but not refunding over payments, damaging things, items falling off the trucks!
TERRIBLE COMPANY AND PEOPLE.

There full of it! They price you for 2 men but automatically bring a third one and tell you you need him and charge you by the hour for him. Then all the third man does is watch the truck. Also there very unprofessional they broke my Tv. And when I noticed and called the company the guy who takes the calls was rude. He told me crying to him won’t do a thing. And the owner never once returned my calls.

I feel it is my duty to warn others who are looking for movers to stay away from Jeff’s Moving And Storage. it has been 1 year that «Mike», the owner had possession of my items. I unfortunately needed to be out of my apartment by 12 noon on a Tuesday. He was expected at 9 but did not show up till 11. So because this was now a rush job, he added a 3^rd mover and jumped my price from $ 400 to loss to $ 800. I noticed that the movers weren’t as careful as I had hoped they would be. I had every box marked in large letters the contents and any thing that had glass was marked «FRAGILE, GLASS». I of course under pressure didn’t understand and he would tell me, «we can work it out later, I’ll give you a discount. Originally, he was going to move my things to a nearby storage facility but he talked me into moving it to his storage units. My family and I were having to live in a motel for what we though would only be a short month or two. I went along and now I am very sorry I did.
We were making small payments but unfortunately, my husband lost a few jobs during this time and I was and still am on disability. Keeping in touch with Mike and assuring him that I didn’t want to lose our possessions to an auction, I felt that every time I spoke with him, it was like he was hearing it for the first time. I feel that he may have the beginning stages of dementia. I assured him that I would be paying off my balance when I got my tax return. He told me that to protect the company, he wanted to go to court. I totally understand and meet him on Feb 24. We meet with a mediator and agreed to a payment plan. Apparently, he is in court every week, over civil suits. I received my funds a 5 days after expected date. it was supposed to be paid with cashiers check or money order, but I offered the debit card number to him if he wanted funds immediately. he agreed and that was a huge relief. Now there was more months due and I wanted to give that to him in a money order and I told him that I don’t even know that that amount is. Let’s talk on Monday morning, the 23^rd to discuss the total balance. The mediator gave me till June to pay this and quite honestly, I wanted to be done and get my possessions out and moved to another facility I had. Early Monday morning, Mike removed $ 897 from my debit card. I called him and left a message to call me back immediately, which he did not. I finally got a hold of him on Tuesday and let me tell you, he is really good at playing dumb. He told me, «you said Monday». I told him, «yeah, Monday we will discuss the balance. I don’t even know how much you are charging. How in the hell did it end up at that amount? he wait we’ll bring me a cashiers check and I’ll reverse it. Really?
At this point, all I want is to get my stuff. We rented a truck and meet him at 9 am. He called me to his scary little office and wanted the door closed. He wanted the card to imprint for his credit card services company. He did this for three charges. Three. This assignment was trying to get another $ 270 approximately from me. Are you serious Mike? I told him I would like to know what this is for and he threw his arms in the air and said «OK, I’ll void it» Total underhanded!
we went outside where one of his movers was bringing items out from his makeshift storage area. Immediately, I saw furniture scratched, broken fan, brand new refrigerator less than 1 yrs old when put in storage dented in several places. What really upset me was finding a small box upside down on the ground and when I turned it right side up, all the glass in it shattered and of course, Fragile was written all over. I had spent some time shop in god for shelves for the living room and bought 2 nice ladder type units. only 3 months old when went into storage, damaged beyond repair. So it’s safe to say that when they moved my things from their truck to their storage, no regard whatsoever to respecting other people’s property. I had seen enough, I walked over to Mike and complained about all the damage. He just shrugged his shoulders and said «Sorry» My husband wanted to get in his face, but bottom line is, Just not worth it.
Please do your homework before hiring anyone for a service you will be paying good money for. They deserve 0 Stars. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

STOP! RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I have so many bad things to say about this company and the guy who says he’s the owner, that there are not enough hours in the day to tell you all of it. So, here’s the meat and potatoes of it all. Whatever you read in the reviews is true! We made the mistake of not looking at Unilocal before we hired this guy. Boy, what a mistake. He violates every professional code of conduct, transportation law, ethical behavior you can name. REALLY! He damaged our things beyond repair. There is no strapping down or padding of anything. The guys that work for him or absolute idiots! Overcharging, bait and switch, taking advantage of his customers, anything and everything is wrong! If I could give ZERO STARS, I would. RUN! RUNAWAY!
Note: there are many, many other 1star ratings onthis guy. But, it’s under Jeff’s Moving. Same company, rest assured! I posted this review on both!

WARNING: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!
Gather ’round kids and let me tell you a story. Our experience mirrors the other reviewers’ here but I feel compelled to give you the details to reinforce that you should NOT use this company.
They arrived THREE hours late when promised they would arrive between 9 –10am. They arrived at 12:10.
When Mike, the owner of «Jeff’s Moving & Storage» (There is no Jeff, BTW) arrived he was scrambling all over and constantly confusing the process. I had to repeat myself about 15 times what things were to go where. He then would tell the guys wrong information and we had to correct him. He truly demonstrated behavior similar to people suffering from mental disorder or under the influence of amphetamines.
He said, «What time is it, 11:00?» I told him that it was 12:30 and that he should wear a watch. He then said that «You’re rich and can afford to buy a watch, I’m too poor to buy one.» I told him that I mentioned his need for a watch because he was 3 hours late to which he said that was because his driver called in sick. I told him that this was not my problem and my time is worth a lot.
BAIT AND SWITCH: Mike attempted to write in a dollar figure on the credit card slip that was almost $ 900. I said, «What is that?! That is way too much.» When I confronted him that the cost was agreed to $ 55/​hour he said that was for two people and he was going to have to charge me for 2 extra movers @ $ 39.00 per hour extra.
Once confronted on the price he began to arbitrarily lower the price spouting out things like, «okay, 5% discount for that and 10%. Okay, $ 670» and then he went lower and continued to be non-​responsive to my questions. I told him that we were going to cancel and find someone else because I did not appreciate «his attempts at upselling me,» and again his behavior was erratic. He then lowered the price again to $ 543.
He took an imprint of my credit card and said that he wouldn’t charge anything but that it was just «reassurance that the card was good.» I asked him for the first carbon copy of the card imprint to which he said, «I’ll rip it up for you.» I said, «No, I need that back and I will rip it up.» He gave it to me and I ripped it up. I would have turned this guy loose but we are in escrow and needed the stuff moved because we’ve got deadlines.
He included himself as one of the «4 movers» we were paying for and indicated that he’d help load the truck and then only the 3 movers would continue on to the 1^st and 2^nd stops. He then disappeared. When I asked one of the movers where he went, he said he went to get tape. When Mike came back he said that he left his cell phone at the gas station and disappeared again and never returned. This left his 3 workers with no paperwork for the deliveries.
To minimize confusion, I had put bright pink stickers on the items meant for the 2^nd location before they were loaded on the truck. They dropped items off at the first location so we got in the car and went to the last drop off. Once we arrived we saw that they had in fact dropped off items at the 1^st location that were meant for the 2^nd location. So, they had to drive all the way back to the 1^st drop off and pick up the items and return them to us.
While they were in transit to retrieve those items I noticed that another item was left at the first location: our huge ladder. I called Mike and he said he would call his men. When the guys arrived back at the our location they didn’t have the ladder. They said Mike didn’t call. When they called Mike and asked him why he didn’t call he reportedly said he did and no one answered; but he failed to leave a message. So, Mike said he would go get the ladder and deliver it to us. About 45 minutes later, the same poor guys who have spent the entire day dealing with Mike’s ineptness, arrived with the ladder. By that time it was 7:20pm.
MAJOR DAMAGE TO OUR ITEMS. When the washer and dryer were delivered there were horrible 5 inch gouges with dents and many scratches on the console and lid, top and side of the washer, and new dents all over the top of the dryer and huge gouge on the lid of the dryer.
Mike said he would bring the paperwork and he arrived 9:20 p.m. He again pulled out his paperwork and tried to calculate hours incorrectly. I suggested that he discount the bill for the cost of repairs to the washer and dryer and he did so.
I do not wish this horrible experience on anyone else. Our move was not a welcome thing. Our family is dealing with the horrendous pain associated with our once-​vibrant mother being in the throes of Alzheimer’s disease. Please do yourself a favor and find another moving company.

This is the worse moving company I have ever dealt with!!! They quote you one price on the phone and then say they «require an extra man for the job and add $ 27 per hour for a third man». This third additional man you are charged for does nothing but supervise the other two men! They then demand a check BEFORE they do the move!!!
Beware ! This is a scam!!! I had to move that day and they took advantage of my situation!
Call anyone else before you accept their scam!!!

This is a BAIT AND SWITCH company. We found them through the penny saver and their add said $ 55 an hr, since 1988 and very dependable (lies). My wife called them and the man on the phone says yes we will come bring a big truck for your home, do not pack your closest my guys have wardrobe boxes and will do everything and get your job done and also we give you a guarantee that you have 4 days from the day you move that we come back and put your house the exact way you want it. Sounded great till moving day when the owner arrived took a look at our house and says you have too much stuff (2 bedroom condo) im going to have to charge you extra $ 1200 and will get the job done and give you 3 guys (there were already 3 guys in the truck the owner planned this from the start) and we will get the whole job done and give you as we promised 4 days extra to call us back. We were in a dyer situation needed to move so we signed up (they were sup to arrive at 9am came at noon and brought a small truck when we were promised a larger one which resulted in 3 trips and not all the stuff out of our old house). This was the worse experience ever in our lives. They didn’t finish we called them the next day no answer we called the owner no answer we called and called for 4 days straight and no answer. We did a charge back with our bank fought it for 2 months and won because we have the proof that they lied the reviews etc. All of a sudden the owner shows up at our door last night after 4 months and harasses us for money and demands we give him a credit card to pay. If he wanted to work it out, it shouldn’t have taken 4 months to do so, if the customer is un happy he should’ve taken care of it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THIS COMPANY WILL DAMAGE YOUR GOODS AND RUN OFF WITH YOUR MONEY.

My elderly mother had to move and she scheduled these guys because they quoted her the lowest price while calling around. Upon arrival they immediately raised the price on her from the original quote, giving ridiculous reasons which were unfounded. They forced her to make up her mind right then and there. She was on a strict schedule to move out so she did not have any choice but to agree. When they did move her stuff in storage, they just piled her belongings on top of another without organizing it as she had asked. They told her it was getting late and if she wanted everything nice and neat, she had to pay extra for overtime. You got that? They left an old woman to move heavy stuff she can’t possibly carry on her own.
‘Jeff Moving Storage’ is a company that has ZERO integrity nor any sense of business ethics. If they would stoop so low that they would take advantage of a retired elderly woman on a fixed income to squeeze more money out of her, just imagine what they will do to you?
If this review would even deter just one other reader from being taken advantaged of by these guys, then I would be satisfied. I would be happier if they went completely out of business. I will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. They have no right being in business like this.

I should have trusted the reviews with this company! I found them in the Pennysaver and when I called the man I spoke with sounded nice and legit so that’s why I went with them. However they were suppose to come at 10am on a Saturday, but I started calling around 10:30am because they still had not shown and I told my landlord my stuff would be out and the place would be cleaned by 2pm, but the phone went to voicemail every time. So I left a voicemail and I didn’t get a call back until 11:15, the guy who called me said «Once I find out what the status is with the crew what number can I call you at?»…So he called me to ask me what number to call me at!!! Then he said he would call me right back, but he never did. I called several times after that but the voicemail said it was full!!! A friend miraculously called me around 12pm and she had some guys who could help me, so I called Jeff’s Moving and Storage back and after a few tries they finally answered, I told them I no longer needed them and I found another alternative… all he said was «Ok I’ll let them know». He didn’t even apologize!!! I was so upset! I literally only had a small studio of stuff which only took an hour and half to move. If I would have waited who knows when they would have got there and from reading the reviews below it sounds like they would have hiked up the price on me too!!! :(

This company has typical bait ans switch tactics. I found the company on Pennysaver and called. I spoke to the owner and described to him about the scope of the moving which involving multiple stops with relatively few pieces of furniture. The price was quoted over the phone. The company called the day before yesterday to confirm the date of moving, i.e. yesterday between 4 and 5pm.
Around 4:30 yesterday, the company called and stated that the crew was running late and tired thus wouldn’t be able to come. Said they would come first thing this morning at 8am.
The crew didn’t get to my place until after 9am and after several calls. The the «partner» showed up and tried to jack up the price by adding additional mover saying «two people may not be enough» and double driving time for every segment of the stops. He estimated the moving for less than a one-​bedroom apartment stuff to be $ 875, which I priced for sure for less than $ 250. Then he tried to wash down to $ 500. I was simply sick and tired of this kind of practice. Maybe this company should deal with the California Attorney General’s office.

These guys are crooks. They quoted us for 2 movers at 3 hours for $ 165 after giving them all the details over the phone. When the owner showed up the day we had to move out. He told us we had to have 1 extra mover and wanted to charge a total of $ 399. When I asked for him to break down the cost, he made up bogus charges and fees about wrapping and using a truck. Even though they said all this was inclusive in the $ 165. I told the guy that was ridiculous. And went to Home Depot picked up 2 workers that did a great job and saved $ 200. BEWARE of these guys and their cheap tricks!

The boss hiked up the price when he got there. Saying this & that are gonna cost extra. What are we supposed to do when we’re on a schedule? Had to negotiate it and pay more, several hundred dollars more for some BS. Ridiculous! The moving guys did an ok job. They know how to pack a lot, but they packed one of my TV and left the stand, separated my office chair and only packed the back part. Dumb. Then told us they were done, we came back in, and a large box was still there. They were nice and listened when we had requests but I’m not happy about my experience overall.

I hired them on Friday to move me on Tuesday from Fountain Valley to North Hollywood. I was already living in NoHo without my furniture for a month. They said they would be at my FV address between 8 & 9 Tuesday morn. I spent the night there on Monday, took a day off work and got up at 7. Around 9 am I got a call saying, «Oh were we supposed to move you today? We never got a confirmation last night.» I said, «You didn’t call me.» They said, «Oh well, all our trucks are out right now. When one comes back, I’ll let you know, but I can’t give you a time.» When I called again an hour later all I was told was to sit tight I’m unable to get ahold of my supervisor. I told him that was unacceptable. They essentially left me stranded and I had to return to NoHo wilthout my furniture and make other arrangements. How does one conduct business in this manner?

I used them because a friend recommended them to me and i see them in the Pennysaver weekly. I scheduled a date for pick up at a certain time and they were there right on time and they were very helpful making 2 different stops, 1 at the new address and 1 at the storage where they gave me an amazing price!!! They also connected the Refridgerator in the new apartment and had to take out the doors at the old place and the new place in order to get the Refridgerator without scratching it and quite Frankly I was Impressed with all the hard work they did. We also had a huge drawer which we got from IKea and they didnt unscrew it they wrapped everything nicely and moved it with no scratches and in place. I kept Calling Mike for extra stuff and he was very courteous in answering all my questions. I WOULD Totally Recommend them to Everyone i know!!! … I live in Anaheim and will definately be telling more people because A move is a huge thing but having someone u can trust and rely on is even better! BEST MOVERS EVER!!!

Use these guys at your own risk! They moved my daughter and it was terrible. They didn’t unload a lot of the boxes they should have at the new residence location… like her medication, food, clothes and shoes. They offered to store the rest of her possessions, and told her she’d need at least a 15′-20′ unit. She had such a hard time getting some of the things she needed that they hadn’t unloaded that she finally rented a storage unit closer to her new location. It’s a 10′ unit, which is easily large enough. To add insult to injury, they charged her as much to move the partial load to the new storage unit as they did to move the entire houseful of furniture, etc. during the initial move. Run… very, very fast. to another company.

I would not recommend Jeff Moving. Although the workers worked hard and deserved a nice tip (which we gave them), the leader (Mgr or Owner) did something I felt was SOOO unethical. He loaded all of our home into his truck and then raised the flat bid price he gave me, and forced me to sign all his paperwork before it was all deliver and while it was in his truck. I had no choice. I would NOT work with this company or refer them to ANYONE !
