One of my absolute favorite places for breakfast in anchorage, on the sides of both service and food quality. Wait staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is hearty and delicious. I especially liked how they kept true to the Alaskan theme. I had the reindeer sausage omelette and it was fresh and delicious. Definitely a nice little place I definitely recommend.

Arrived 15 minutes prior to close(2pm) and was denied service. Asked how early someone would need to arrive prior to closing for service and was told half hour. Why don’t you just put your close of business at the earlier time then? Waste of time.

What is the story with restaurants that show 24 hour news channels? Qdoba shows Fox, Dairy Queen shows Fox, Kriner’s shows Fox, and Café AK had OAN(One America News) on their tv, which is even worse than Fox in terms of slant. There is just no reason to be political in a dining establishment. Anyways, the breakfasts here are good, the coffee excellent. But I doubt I’ll be back, as I’d rather not fund the side of the aisle that loves guns, hates women and decries big gubbmint while sending America to the poorhouse. Show sports. Show HGTV. Don’t lose customers…

Ok so i have now been here several times and I’m very pleased! You must check this Anchorage place out. It reminds me of gwennies portion size, just a little less crowded. The breakfast is good, the staff friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. I am glad it seems business is picking up for them. If you need breakfast served all day go check them out. I havent tried their other food, but it looks appetizing. When you’re done you can jump across the street to AMH to shop!

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet! The place is amazing in every way. The food is excellent, the staff treats you like family, the place is clean. Food: I have to admit my fiancé and I always order the same thing, chicken fried steak and eggs and the Café AK eggs Benedict. We always order this because it is the best in town. Service: The people here really do treat you like family. We used to go in every weekend, but due to our hectic schedules we try to go as often as we can. We aren’t just customers to them, they notice when we haven’t made it in in a while and ask about the family. They’re genuinely interested in us as people not just customers. One of the most obvious signs is they know our«usual» and just ask if that’s what we are having. Atmosphere: I absolutely love the size of this place. Yeah they could expand, they are busy enough, but I love how cozy it is. The bathroom is awesome, at least for me. I have a little one still in diapers and was so happy that not only do they have a comfortable changing table, not one of those hard fold down ones, but the day I forgot the wipes they had some available. This is our number one place to go have a hearty breakfast, we bring all our family in and recommend it to anyone looking for a great diner with nice people. Can’t wait to see them again!

Finding a descent place to enjoy a well cooked, great tasting breakfast in this town is more easily said than done here in A-town! My mother had come across this place looking to try something new so we decided to go and give it a shot after reading several rave reviews. All I have to say is WOW!!! Why have I not known about this place sooner? The only draw back I really see stopping this place from being packed in the future is the capacity for seating. There really isn’t any… we had got there just in time and got seated right away, but the poor folks behind us had to wait patiently while we enjoyed our food. The food by the way was absolutely outstanding and the service was warm and friendly. I ordered the Breakfast Bagel with home fries! It was absolutely fantastic! The home fries were actually«home fries» and I of course smothered them in a sausage gravy which I would have to say easily made those little guys the top 2 taters I have ever had the honor of stuffing in my face!(The #1 being the potatoes my Uncle makes for Thanksgiving!) The prices were more than fair and their lunch menu looked just as good as their breakfast. So I am definitely looking forward to making another stop in at some point in the afternoon and grabbing me something from their lunch menu as well!

First off it should be noted that this place is now open 7 days a week again, contrary to what their website and Google says… We came on a weekday and there were only a few people in the place. One cook and one cashier/waitress/hostess. We had reindeer sausage with pancakes and a half order of biscuits and gravy. The sausage and pancakes were delicious, but I was let down by the flavorless gravy. Presentation was good and the service was acceptable given the one woman operation. It would be nice to sit outside, but being in Spenard you run a good chance of being panhandled or having a lengthy conversation with someone who thinks it’s 1968.

I love breakfast. It’s my favorite meal of the day. So my breakfast standards are pretty high. With that being said, I love the breakfast at Café AK. I had the classic eggs Benedict because they really advertise how great there hollandaise sauce is. I have to say it is all that they advertise it to be. I would love the fresh ingredients and large portions. I have already planned my return trip. I would DEFINITELY recommend to a friend.

We’ve been here a few times now and love it. Great prices, great portions, super friendly staff. I always order French toast at every place in town and love it here, it’s always good. My husband ordered country fried steak and eggs and country potatoes(so good, they don’t make them like this anywhere we’ve been). My son had a burger off the kids menu and they added bacon(a lot) per his request which was nice. We will definitely be back and tell everyone we know they have to try it here.

We have been looking for a place for brunch since moving back from portland and today we found it! This place is so adorable and the food was very delicious. Nothing fancy. My husband had the reindeer sausage omelet and it was beautiful and tasty. He also had the grits… creamy and buttery the way they should be. I had corned beef and eggs with their potatoes. It’s the kind out of the can and it was crunchy on the outside just like my grandma used to make! We took our 11 month old son and the servers were super friendly. We will be going back very soon and often!

Basic diner food and a very long wait for everything. I think it was one person waiting on the entire place. I’m hoping staffing improves and they get more organized and creative with their menu, but for now I’ll wait.

Yep it’s a keeper! Finally stopped in after months of saying«next time.» I’m very glad I did! The interior is cute and the waitress was very friendly. The coffee came in hot and fresh. After looking over the menu, I decided in the veggie omelet with egg whites, wheat toast and home fries. My breakfast date ordered the breakfast sliders. When the food arrived it only took me two seconds to decide this is a new favorite. My omelet was huge and had the perfect amount of vegetables filling the not overly cooked egg whites. The home fries are nothing like you’ve ever had. They’re crunchy, but soft, oniony, but not too oniony and the perfect accompaniment to the dish. The sliders are comparable to the ones at City Diner but Café AK uses potato rolls instead of Hawaiian rolls. This was perfectly ok, the sliders were still A+. Overall the ambiance, service and food was outstanding. I can’t wait to go back!

Very nice place. Clean and well kept. Had the breakfast sliders. We’re very good. Staff were super friendly and nice. Serving were big so you won’t go hungry. I would go 3.5 stars but Unilocal won’t let me. Maybe they need to fix there app. gf had the eggs benidict with home fry’s and she gave them a 4 star. If you go there for lunch, you can stop by next door and get a tattoo but we did breakfast so maybe next time.

Once on a cold Saturday morning, a lone bleary traveler decided to stop in this little spenard café. The lights were cheerful and warm beckoning me like a moth to a flame… ok enough of the hyperbole walked in and was greeted by friendly staff with suggestions that were spot on. The Café AK Benedict was phenomenal, home style potatoes and creamy rich hollandaise. Perfect in ever way. Must stop spot in spenard.

We keep coming to this place because it’s great. My wife really likes the Denver omelette while I am a die hard fan for corn beef hash. This place is a gem.

Definitely in my Top 5: Anchorage Breakfast joints, that is. It’s also very refreshing to have a new weekday-option. There are far too few in our town! I held off reviewing this place initially, it seems like they were often closed at moment’s notice and that the hours weren’t really finalized. I’m happy to report that all has been fixed! The food here contains many of the diner classics, but with a slightly newer spin on them. Think of it as a hybrid of Granny B’s and Snow City. Sort of halfway between those two established Anchorage breakfast joints as far as the type of food. Something that definitely sets them apart though: their breakfast potatoes! Easily the best in the city! Perfectly cooked and generously portioned. They are«home fries» but not the ones that resemble French-fry-cubes, more like the ones Dad used to make for you on a Sunday morning. So good. Service is always friendly, portions are always large, and they have Wi-Fi. More importantly: their Wi-Fi is fast enough to actually be usable! Something I cannot say for the vast majority of Anchorage businesses.(seriously, what’s the deal guys?!) I like the location, it’s close all the Spenard goodness, while also being quite hidden. I can easily get in and out of here without there being a line or huge crowds. Something tells me that might change once people start figuring out that it’s here, though!

Oh my! This place is awesome! Grits and a fork can stand up in, thank you Jesus! Someone can do them right in this town. Quality cut of meat for the chicken fried steak! Sausage gravy to die for. Daughter’s burger was so flavorful, and the bun was soft and fresh! From the«It’s The Little Things» list. Iced tea was brought with a… wait for it… real teaspoon!

Best kept secret that I’m gonna guess is going to get out sooner or later. Delicious food, great service, lovely atmosphere. Doing everything right from the minute you walk in the door to when you leave stuffed and satisfied. Closed Monday and Tuesday, it’s a must do breakfast or lunch diner. It’s becoming a weekend must go. Highly recommend.
