I came here based on recommendation of the Courtyard Marriott front desk staff. The views were excellent as the weather was perfect! 2 stars for the view! The food was just average bar food. I ordered the French dip with fries. Just ok… The sandwich was average but with bland au jus. The fries were tasteless and mushy/limp! I was ok with the food as I was in a hotel and had a nice view. The service, however, was atrocious! I waited 10 minutes to get a menu. I ordered and the food came almost instantly… Just means it was under a warmer! I asked for water when I ordered and got it as I finished my meal. I wanted ketchup but could not get the attention of any server… So I got up and got it from the bar. No attention at all from the server… I felt invisible most of the time, until he brought the check! I’ll be in Anchorage twice monthly for the next 6 months for a project I have… Sadly I won’t be back to this place!

After many fine experiences here, it seems like the Moose has decided to take the low road and rip off the summer tourist. My «go-to» meal is the halibut and chips — usually a good plate of food and good service to boot. Our last experience was just the other day and it will be the last time we drop in for quite a while! The service was terrible, had to ask for utensils after food had been delivered, fries were not even warm, the portion of halibut was more in line with a small appetizer plate and was not close to the quality normally delivered. The menu has also changed and many favorites are gone for the summer.

I was staying at a nearby hotel and wanted a quick meal and a beer. Usually I’d eat at one of the good brew pubs in town, but this was easy walking distance. I sat at the bar, and started with a Single Engine Red. It was flat and way too warm. Then tried an Alaskan APA, and it too was flat and too warm. The meal was a tiny, over cooked, under seasoned slice of chicken with a scoop of rice and a few vegetables. The vegetables were good. I wouldn’t ever eat/drink there again. It’s a tourist trap. If ever staying in that area again, I’d take a cab to the Bear Tooth up the road,

One star for the view of Lake Spenard — the floatplanes coming and going out of Lake Hood keep this from being a zero star joint. Seriously, this place makes me want to try a Gordon Ramsay«Kitchen Nightmare» before going back. We came in the one evening for dinner. It was busy — but no queue and plenty of open tables, so we sat down. Staff was everywhere and so disorganized it was embarrassing. After almost ten minutes of sitting with no menus, no water, and no silverware, we flagged down a server delivering something to a table nearby. His comment after asking for the aforementioned items was, «you aren’t my table.» Not helpful. I had to instruct him to go find whomever was responsible for our table. Some time later a woman walked by, threw two menus on the table and disappeared. No hello, no missing waters, nothing. After a few more minutes, a waiter showed up(yet another person) and took an order. I asked for a salmon burger, my girlfriend wanted a bison burger with a side salad instead of the fries. This took a while to communicate, as the server clearly did not have English as a first language. 45 minutes later the place had mostly emptied and our food FINALLY showed up. Well, mostly showed up. My salmon burger and fries came, as did her bison burger. The side salad had disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle of restaurant hell, never to be found. Meanwhile the salmon was overcooked to the point of being dry, and it and the fries were lukewarm at best, having obviously sat in the pass forever while one of the clueless waitstaff probably was off ignoring other patrons. It took several more minutes to flag down another staff member to fetch the manager. When he finally came over, it was beyond the point of fixing. We explained the atrocities on the plates in front of us, and that we were no longer willing to wait nor did we have faith they wouldn’t screw such simple food up again. We left without eating and wandered up the street to another bar/sports pub. I can’t claim the food was any better, but at least they got it right, and the service elsewhere was prompt and courteous. Do yourself a favor — bring a picnic, sit on the lakeshore or the dock, and bypass this inept tourist trap.

Love the view! Drinks are good too. but the service was snail slow and the patio menu was not as classy, I was dissapointed. The manager said it was to cater to the tourists. It took 45 min to get a drink and asked for water a few times. Wow! With a simple menu u would think the service would be faster. Hmmmmm we put money on the table and walked out.:(

See my review for«The Lakefront Anchorage» The only reason I ate here was because I was staying at the hotel, had no car to go anywhere else, and had not eaten all day. It would have been better to stay in the room and go hungry. There was a sweet young woman who was working that night — not a server — but she was trying so hard to make people happy in that mess. I appreciate her kindness and efforts.

The Fancy Moose Lounge is located right on Lake Hood. This restaurant has got a magnificent view. You can see the beautiful Lake through the huge windows. The service was very good, the servers were attentive. Their food has enormous portions. The specialty drinks are pretty nice as well. Although this place is pretty packed, so better be ready for the crowd. Over-all a very nice place to visit, especially after biking(it’s on the way back from the bike trail).

This restaurant is located in the Millennium/Lakefront Hotel… It boasts a rustic Alaskan feel, with beautiful views of the lakefront. In the summer, you can dine out in the large wooden deck. From inside you can see the sea planes taking off and landing. The style of food is American, with lots of local influences. Not being a fan of seafood, I decided to order the chicken wrap(also available in tuna & humous) with a side fruit salad. The portion was large, but I’m not sure that the side fruit salad worked(not really creative) with the wrap(just a personal preference… And the server said I could sub with fries). The servers were attentive(my friend and I were one of the few people dining at this time) and friendly. Other reviews complained about the prices being too high, but I found them to be on par with other hotel restaurants. Being a guest at the Millennium, it’s a nice convenient and comfortable dinner… I look forward to returning on my next visit.

The Fancy Moose, ah yes. The ambiance is second to none and a great view of the lake. I ordered an amazing sockeye sandwich that came with fries. The food came out luke warm. The fries were your typical flavor with a lack of flare. I am not sure my fries were ever warmed up properly. The sandwich had some great flavor; however, it would have been nice to receive a hot sandwich. It is amazing how a hot sandwich with an amazing aioli sauce turns bland and uneventful when served almost cold. The service, yes, let’s discuss the service. I will say, service is a make or break for me. My server didn’t refill my water, I had to ask for my check, and he didn’t bring my mustard. The expo supports the servers by bringing out meals. When I talked to the expo I requested mustard and she said she would return with mustard. No return at all, but she did come back out and give the guy next to me his soup. This place has potential. Not sure I will return.

Fancy is right! Fancy prices! The service was decent, but I’m only convinced it’s because my girlfriend was sitting with me haha we bought more dirty martinis than they had glasses. The apps were OK but nothing to write home about. Unless I’m staying at the hotel, there’s really no reason to come here.

Service is slow. Wine is excellent. Shrimp cocktail was excellent — although an extra small fork for this would have been nice since it is served in a small wine glass and it is too narrow to dip your prawns into the sauce, you have to dig the sauce out with your fork as it is buried beneath a field of greens and it is too narrow to dip your prawns into the sauce. Tried the crab and scallop Mac n cheese that others had commented about positively. Three scallops and two clumps of crab meat later and I was done. All that was left was passable rigatoni with weak Alfredo. I can do that at home. Very high priced for the quality. Fresh cracked black pepper would have been nice on the pasta. Ice cream on the Free Berry Cobbler(free with the purchase of an entrée — for hotel guests) was yummy — berry cobbler itself — canned fruit topping with some finely ground graham crackers on top. Ice cream was good though — and free!

Food is always mediocre and service is usually pretty poor. What else can I say. The atmosphere here is nice, but I’m now finding other places that have good atmosphere and good food and service. Sorry mill don’t think I’m coming back. I’ve given you years to improve

Great Dinner, excellent service and a spectacular view. This restaurant was very close to our hotel, it took us just 3 minutes to walk too. The new hotel this place resides in is called«The Lakefront Anchorage».

Honestly, as a local resident who has watched this hotel switch hands and try to reinvent itself several times over the years, I’m baffled as to how it’s still in business. My only guesses are that it’s because of the outdoor deck, proximity to the airport and that tourists are suckers. They charge highway robbery prices for crap food, the servers are hit and miss(mostly miss) and the only thing consistent about their drinks is that they’re watered down and nasty. Seriously…$ 18 – 20 for a BURGER that doesn’t even come with all the fixings?! Are you kidding me? Do yourself a favor and go to some other establishment.

I really wanted this place to be as excellent as its view, but there were a lot of shortfalls. No one seated us, so we meandered outside to the deck where plenty of people were already dining. We waited about 15 minutes before a waitress came by, and about a half hour to get the meal we ordered. A BLT and a burger shouldn’t take that long. Beers were given to the incorrect person… the list goes on. *sigh* It’s standard pub food with Alaskan ingredients thrown into the entrees, but its a little overpriced too. I genuinely hope they up their game– I love the view of Lake Hood and watching the float planes come in.

Had lunch here(inside) while waiting to check into my room. The food was delicious and generously sized. The server knew we were waiting to check in so sweet allowed us to stay at our table as long as we wanted, even though we were finished eating. Later that evening I went back to eat outside on the deck and watch the float planes. The deck was busy. It took awhile to get the server’s attention but the food was still just as good.

After a long hike decided to eat here as it was in our hotel. The fitness plate, brown rice with veggies and chicken was gluten free and delicious. My husband had the onion rings and the club sandwich, the portions were huge, he couldn’t finish all the food. He said it was also very good. The service was great, very attentive. So, I feel the need to change my review. We came back the following afternoon for lunch, and while the food was just as good the service was horrible. Our waitress was so preoccupied with a table outside that it took forever to get our food. So, instead of the previously given 5 stars, I now think it is only worth 4.

I ate here two times when I was in AK. I had the Philly Cheesesteak for lunch. It was really wet from the meat, but was somehow 90% bread. Not a fan. The tomato basil bisque was delightful. Hot and flavorful. I would definitely recommend, especially once it gets cold. Everything was way more expensive than it should have been. They price gouge us tourists. The female servers were really unpleasant, but there was a male waiter who was awesome. If you are crazy hungry and don’t want to venture out of the hotel it’s fine as a stand by, but there are definitely better places to eat in the area.
