The service is quite slow. The atmosphere is nice. The pizza really makes up for the slow service. The xL meat pizza is the bomb. Very good experience…

Lasagna was very good, traditional style that is not swimming in marinara sauce. The spaghetti was over cooked… the pasta almost always is here… but their marinara, meatballs and Italian sausage are all great. Just remember to ask for you pasta cooked al dente. Two negatives. The stuff coming from the bar is cheap, overpriced and not good. The kitchen will not accommodate splitting 2 dishes between 2 people. Instead, they brought us extra plates and utensils and had us do it ourselves. Skip the tiramisu… not home made.

A Family Owned Italian restaurant that is by far my favorite! I’ve had a wonderful experience dining at this place. The service was very personal, the owners will ensure that you are having a wonderful time. The food was just delicious. They serve both classic and modern Italian food. If you’re craving Italian food then this is the place to go.

This is my favorite restaurant in Anchorage! Eggplant parm, Fiori salad, garlic bread, spaghetti w: meatballs, Wayne’s steak. Grappa Sauce! Plus, the owners are great people… ‘Nuff said. They keep a small staff, so don’t come if you’re in a hurry. Do come for a relaxing evening, and a delicious meal.

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat. I’ve had nothing but a good time! The Wayne’s steak is on point! I could practically drink the sauce that comes with it lol(: I’ve also had the beef ravioli with red sauce and the cheese ravioli with white sauce, they were both pretty damn good. I also cannot leave without eating their«big fat chocolate cake» which is pretty big and very rich, and the chocolate sauce ties it all together! I forgot to mention the alcohol selection is hugggeee. Can’t go wrong with any of these.

Love Love Love the food. The service? Well… If you don’t expects to get your drinks or even your order taken quickly, then you wont be surprised. Don’t get me wrong… Its not bad service, just really really really slow. The food more than makes up for what the service lacks. I’ve been eating here for years. They are open later than the other Italian restaurants and the food is simply superior. They are perfect for a romantic dinner or celebration. Warning– If you want to eat there on Valentine’s day, call days in advance!

I was invited to dinner for this evening and I suggested this restaurant. I didn’t realize until I went to post this review that it was only 19 days ago I was here for the first time. Again the food and service were excellent. I had the manicotti this evening and it was delicious. Again I had half my meal to take home to enjoy for lunch tomorrow. Everyone who loves northern Italian food should try this restaurant. It is large inside and even though there were several other diners we did not have any trouble getting in at 6:30 on a Saturday night. For the older Unilocalers this restaurant is on the same property as the old garden of eatin. It is not in the Quonset hut but right next to it.

I’ve eaten here a number of times. The food and drinks are decent and the prices are reasonable. It’s the owners who give this place a 1 star. Some nights they’re friendly and other times the husband is the extremely rude. The food is good, but not good enough to justify giving such poor customer service.

Don’t normally write Unilocal reviews but this place deserves a 5 star rating. I was in Anchorage for the first time visiting a friend from college. Being from Chicago, I told him it would be tough for any of the Alaskan restaurants to compete, but he took me here and definitely proved me wrong. We got there around 6:30pm on a Friday night without a reservation and the restaurant was pretty crowded and naturally there was a bit of a wait, so we sat at the bar and the bartender was great. Despite being busy, he was happy to hear it was my first time in the city and gave me a few tips of things to do, not to mention he makes one hell of a Manhattan. After about a 40 minute wait we were seated. We started out with the Scampi Fiori which was fantastic, very flavorful. For my entrée I got the Wayne steak which had mushrooms, onions, and a phenomenal sauce. I asked for medium rare and compliments to the chef who cooked it perfectly. My friend got the stuffed chicken and raved about it. This restaurant competes with the best!

This place is so good. I always order the stuffed chicken. I like how they deliver to the house. Never disappointed the food there is consistent.

I can walk to this place from my house when both my feet are working normally(they’re not) but the reason I tried these guys out was because they offered delivery options. We got a white pizza, the pasta carbonara, and a side of the potatoes. The Potatoes were probably my favorite lol. Ratings: carbonara: 2⁄10. Done right, this shit is fantastic, and one of my go-tos at any Italian joint, but this one just wasn’t good. The sauce was definitely not an egg-based cream sauce by any means. I ate about half because this was THE dish I had wanted to try initially and foisted the leftovers on my husband(he’s a garbage disposal lol). potatoes: 7⁄10. It. is. really. really. hard. to. screw. these. up. Well if you’re Irish in any way it is lol. They were good and I woofed them over a period of two days. white pizza: 4⁄10. The first piece tasted great… every piece after it started to make me feel vaguely ill. They put WAY too much gorgonzola on this; so much so that it overwhelmed everything else and it was all I tasted. Nuh-uh. When I called in they were totally harried and very short with me on the phone. Said delivery was gonna be like… three hours! Well my broken leg was effing killing me and I had nothing at the house that sounded palatable so I went with it. They wound up getting it here in about 2 hours, and the delivery guy was very nice. He gets a 9⁄10. This place may be one of the closest places to our house, but its proximity won’t be bringing me back anytime soon.

I had never been here prior to a recent visit but heard about it through my sister and joined in on a larger group dinner. The wait staff did well in promptly taking orders, keeping water glasses filled and the food wasn’t too much of a wait despite the group size, though it came out in phases and not all at once. The restaurant is nestled in a Spenard residential area(strange) but slightly charming. Though the outside isn’t what one would expect from an Italian restaurant(like where’s the goofy pillars and stucco people?!), but the inside is DEFINITELY Italian. Garland, fake grapes, baskets, candles, oh my it’s everywhere, in every nook and cranny! there could have been small children hiding in there for all we know. The wine list was just so so. I opted for the house pinot nior and quickly regretted it. A woman next to me ordered a bottle of the house chardonnay. I am partially in the wine business, meaning like a wet toe in the wine bath of the business — but I am pretty familiar with cost, quality and labels. This wine was just cheap, flat out cheap. I knew the cost on these bottles to be SIGNIFICANTLY less than what they charge their customer. It makes me shudder to this day. The appetizers were just so so — some ordered mozz bread with a marinara dipping sauce which were just ok. Fried onion rings and jalapeño poppers were also ordered. The poppers were very clearly from a bag one might get in the freezer section at freddies. The onion rings were practically all batter, no onion. Finally, the good: dinner wasn’t too bad! hence the three stars — and other people seemed quite happy with their own entrees. My partner got two orders of meatballs and steamed veggies. The veggies appeared fresh and we’re not over-cooked. The meatballs were ok, I felt they lacked seasoning and maybe some fat introduction with pork meat. My boyfriend enjoyed them and felt they were just fine. I had the Involtini DI Pollo Con Prosciutto Formaggio. Quite a mouthful — and a delicious one at that! It’s difficult to stuff and cook chicken breast and get everything to come out moist. They achieved just that and the delicious, earthy scent of sage lingered through the dish. The beer was very affordable, so maybe I’ll opt for that next time.

I can’t speak for the food, I just went here to meet some friends that were eating dinner. I had a couple beers. First of all: this is the funkiest building and location of just about any restaurant I’ve seen in Anchorage. If you think«Man, I’m probably not supposed to be here…» then, you’re in the right place! Very warm and welcome inside ambiance. I sat at the bar. The bar is low, it’s low-down. You’ll feel like a kid. A kid that can drink beer. Anyway, the folks that were working here were awesome. A man came out and we talked about world politics for an extended period of time. He was great and full of wisdom. And generally happy for us to be there. It reminded me of being a clueless 20-something, backpacking through Europe and befriending random people. Except that I felt like I was family. I’ll definitely be back, and this time I’ll get some food.

I was really hoping that after reading the reviews that this place was going to be a geode(rough looking on the outside but marvelous on the inside.) I only got food to go, but can share my experience either way. The outside looks like a run down saloon from the pioneer days. The inside is at least interesting with a bar the looks like it was designed for umpa loompas, as it is like 2′ tall. I ordered the lasagna and it was hidden in cheese. Which was a good idea, because the rest of it really lacked in flavor. And I love cheese. They offered me a salad or soup with it and I chose the soup… Not good at all. The oil on top was a about a centimeter thick. And it was more like a gruel. It was edible but not great, not really even good. And it had Frozen vegetables in it. Anyway… I hope you have better luck then we did.

Food was just ok will never go there again. Don’t waste your money pizza Olympia is much better. Service was horrible and the owner was one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. I tripped in their doorway and they blamed me for it and accused me of being drunk because when I arrived there I asked if this was a restaurant and because I asked the person outside who turned out to be the owner, well I only asked because it was in middle of a neighborhood. I asked if they should fill out an incident report or something the owner came out yelling at my mother and I calling us drunks when in fact we don’t drink. Rude rude rude owner and chased and followed me out the door

Oh my goodness I love love LOVE this restaurant! The food is always served hot and is always delicious, the décor is the perfect amount of Italian clutter and makes it feel very homey. When ever I walk in the door I feel like family, I absolutely love this place!

Keeping it short. Wandered across town to try some place«new»(to me). Certainly off the beaten path. Had strange greeting, just was weird, but after that the service was very friendly and attentive. The food wasn’t anything special but it wasn’t bad. The interior, while possibly dated, was clean and welcoming. I’d come back if in the area or taking somebody else that hasn’t been, and if you live in West or SW Anchorage it’s worth at least a try.

From the outside, its hard to tell if this is a restaurant or a strip club. I’ve never been in such a perfectly preserved piece of 70’s history though. Well, maybe other than Gwennie’s. The mirrors walls are disconcerting. I hate watching myself eat. But nostalgia is fun. I could imagine this being the hopping place back when. The fried mozzarella was good, freshly made and very filling. It’s a plate for 3 – 4 people. the garlic bread was full of butter and delicious. The Fettuccine Carbonara was hot but the sauce was a little thin — not as cheesy as would have been ideal. Baklava was too sweet. We couldn’t finish it. It wasn’t bad, but not great either.

I had a salad and the shrimp so I can’t attest for anything else on the menu. BUT the place was clean and the wait person was very nice and somewhat attentive to my needs. I say that because I ordered a soda and ask if it was bottomless which would indicate I would be needing a refill. She never showed back up to offer a refill so I ended up having to drink some water also. It wasn’t as bad as some city waters I’ve had so not a big deal. The salad was fresh and good and when they say the shrimp are a little spicy they are not joking. Cleaned out my sinuses but didn’t make my eyes water. It’s a very nice place and I would suggest you bring your best girlfriend here for dinner sometime.
