This place was incredible! Our new go to for Italian food here in Anchorage. Started with the stuffed mushrooms and it was NOT a mistake! They were absolutely delicious! I could have eaten those as my entrée alone to boot. I had the Chicken Parm with half alfredo and half marinara sauce. It was light;y breaded and very moist. My girlfriend had the Chicken Valbostana and it was equally amazing. The wait staff was great, always there to refill our glasses just before they were empty, and whisked our plates away immediately after finishing each coarse. The environment is dim and romantic, but very comfortably set up for family style dining in the center of the rooms. Definitly going back to this place in the near future.

I absolutely love this place! It is my go-to for Italian food in the Anchorage area. I have been to Romano’s and Little Italy for and either one have come close to what Sorrento’s has to offer. I’ve had the Chicken Marsala, Ravioli, spaghetti and their Pizza here… all have been absolutely awesome! For an appetizer I recommend the stuffed mushrooms with the cheese sauce. Those are my absolute favorite! The atmosphere and ambiance here is very nice as well! A great place for date night or just to get a nice quiet evening in. I would defiantly recommend this place.

Love it here. Try the stuffed mushrooms, they are best! I also tried the Fettuccini Arrabiatta for first time, very good with chicken, and if you don’t like super spicy, you can order it mild. They also have best pizza in Anchorage

I’ve found pockets of good Italian in Anchorage but it’s usually just one or two decent menu items at each restaurant versus a good place to eat consistently. This place is absolutely amazing with everything from the garlic bread to the multitude of menu options all being a must have. I usually don’t gush about any restaurant because most places have something to complain about but the place truly made me want more. If you’ve never been here your truly missing out on one of Alaska ’ s gems.

OK Sorrento’s, maybe I’m falling out of love with you a little. I have been craving good Italian food for about a month so I was looking forward to this meal immensely. I let the server pick my meal for me(yes, I’m one of THOSE people) and ironically, she chose what I got last time I was there– the chicken Marsala. So i was totally«yay! Nice choice server girl» when it arrived. She was a Kool Kat and got a hefty tip, btw. But ehhh… the Chicken Marsala fell flat. It was not Marsala-y ATALL this time. Scant mushrooms and BROWN sauce. Eh? Isn’t it supposed to be burgundyish? Like MARSALA wine? Bah. The chicken wasn’t overcooked tho, so I was satisfied, just not tickled. The little side of pasta was good. But for the size of the portion, the 23 dollar price tag really stung. Nathan had the Sorrento platter thing: lasagna, Alfredo, and grilled lemon chicken. He liked everything but the Alfredo.. I tasted the Alfredo and almost wet my pants it was so good. So «yes, please we will take home a doggy bag with my leftover chicken, thanks.» Yay, leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Fast forward to lunch today. I gently nuked said leftovers. And when I took it out of the microwave, a vat, I mean VAT of butter had separated off the food. Please Sorrento’s, can I have my fucking waist line back? Like a HALF cup of butter came off a small serving of leftovers. It is inexcusable to cook in such an irresponsible manner. Flavors should not be tied in in 300G of fat. This isn’t 1970, get with the program people. You can cook delicious foods without such disregard for people’s health. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be back to Sorrento’s. 60 plus bucks for heart disease? No thank you.

So this may not be the high-end, perfectly homemade pasta cooked al dente, mouth-watering always scratch sauce establishment of the lower 48’s, but I rather enjoyed myself last night! We waited less than 5 minutes for a cozy table against the brick wall bordering the main dining area. Service was very friendly and prompt. The wine list was respectable for this family homestyle type place and the beer was quite affordable. We ordered the zucchini fritti and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. The fritti was perfectly crusted and fried with moist zucchini inside. The dipping sauces included both a ranch sauce(not the bottled hidden valley variety) and a nice marinara — perfect amount of acid and a barely noticeable sweetness. The stuffed mushrooms were pretty good — the seafood aroma came through delicately, but I would have wished that the stuffing wasn’t a sort of unrecognizable mash-up of shrimp, crab, parm and breadcrumbs… but maybe I just don’t know how it works. Tasty nonetheless. My honey ordered the gyro plate and the meat was savory and moist. I had the fettuccini di mare with the arrabbiata sauce(the spicier cream based version). I was super impressed with the amount of seafood and the apparent care given to making sure«x» amount of shrimp, halibut pieces and scallops ended up on the plate. It was plentiful, the seafood was all cooked perfectly and the sauce quite rich and flavorful. I had a ton leftover for lunch and it reheated well on low heat in a saucepan. I had the maryhill sangiovese at 8/glass and it was the perfect amount of acid to cleanse the palette after a heavy meal. Like other reviewers have remarked, this is a quaint establishment, low-lit, trellised ceilinged and homey. I will be back.

I had a craving for Spaghetti Carbonara tonight so decided to try this place based on the pictures I saw. Since I broke my lower leg, going out for long periods is hard for me so we got the food to go. We got the Carbonara, the Fettuccine di Mare, kid’s cheese ravioli with meat sauce, and were SUPPOSED to get a Caesar salad big enough to feed 2 – 3. Pretty sure we paid for the salad, too. The food came out pretty fast considering how busy it was(we came the day after PFD day so imagine that one lol), and we went home anxiously waiting to scarf out. That’s when I realized they never gave me our Caesar. We got everything else, but given how busy the roads were(Friday night anyone?) and the fact my broken leg/foot was killing me, I decided to just take the loss. The Carbonara was pretty decent, but I expected it to have more of that peppery taste carbonara is known for, and it had no pepper at all. I’d say it tasted pretty okay, but nothing really stood out about it. The Fettuccine was okay as well. My son scarfed the Ravioli so apparently that was pretty good! I’ve read a lot of raves on here about the garlic bread, and I’m really not sure what all the fuss is about. For Garlic bread, I’d call this stuff middle of the road… nothing horrible or fantastic. All in all, I don’t like this place as much as the other Italian place I’ve sampled since moving up here. Will give it another shot perhaps at a later date. Oh and as for the ambience of the place, it was very loud and bright inside; or at least it was very bright over by the bar. Not what I like in a restaurant.

Came here because the woman and I were craving pasta and wanted to try someplace new. We were greeted and were sat promptly. The restaurant is a little dark inside but I think that’s kind of what they’re going for. There are no windows inside and the space is small but they have a large mirror across on the far wall to create the illusion of space which definitely helps. Our server was very friendly and informed us that she had worked there for I think 20 years she said. That’s always nice to hear. That means they must treat their employees well. I ordered the Fettuccine di Mare with spicy arrabbiate sauce(recommended by our server) and was not disappointed. It was VERY good. In fact, ever since I’ve had it I’ve been craving it. I need to go back! My woman ordered spaghetti and she said it was good as well. But she tried mine and said mine was better. I will definitely be going back in the future to get some amazing Italian food here in Anchorage. Finally!

Our first time here and they got it right. Salads came promptly, water was graciously topped off when needed, waitress was excellent. A little spendy but I think worth it. We will definitely be back and will save room for desert next time.

3.5 stars for food. A little on the pricier end, but it is Alaska and a great choice if you’re looking for a fancier Italian dinner. Most pastas range from $ 18 – 25. Each pasta comes with a selection of either salad or soup of the day(chicken and rice soup was superb.) Most pastas don’t include a protein, and it costs extra to put in meat. Nonetheless, I had the Fetuccini al vino Rosso with mushrooms which was tasty. Also tried my brother’s Spaghetti Carbonara was delicious. It was very creamy, so its better as a dish to share. Good portions Pizza comes in small, medium, and large. Chicken Mossino was good if you’re an olive lover. Personally, I’m a bigger fan of Cheescake Factory, but my siblings think otherwise. Cheescake has a wider variety of proteins included with their pastas and broader selection in general. 4 stars for staging. A small restaurant, but did a great job with the fancy dim lighting and red table cloths. Good service and nice people– would come back.

How have I lived in anchorage for 5 years and never heard of this place? My fiancé suggested it, and I’m so glad we came here. I got the meat and cheese ravioli with meat sauce(phenomenal) and he got spaghetti and meatballs. Both had amazing flavor! The meatballs were so flavorful and the sauce was just incredible! I enjoyed the meat ravioli slightly more than the cheese, but both were fantastic! Then for dessert, my favorite, tiramisu!!! It was delicious! Just a perfect meal at a great place… I will definitely be back

I’ve tried many Italian restaurants and most come up short. Sorrento’s restored my faith in «traditional» Italian restaurants here in Anchorage and now I come here often. The Fettuccini Arrabiatta is my favorite dish. Its a spicier version to the favorite Fettuccini dish which personally to me is refreshing. I’m almost addicted to it. Of course you can add chicken to it(as i do) or you can add shrimp. I’m an appetizer kind of guy so we always get the Trio which has Calamari, Fried Zucchini and Mozzarella Sticks.(Dumb rant alert) An issue I have with garlic bread in general is that its always way more bread than garlic. It may sound like a «first world problem» but here they actually give you great garlic to bread ratio. Maybe insignificant to others but that’s a big plus also because it comes with the dinner. Service is good, food is great and garlic bread = win.

This place is great! A little busy but yummy for sure. I had a salad with stuffed mushrooms, the homemade italian dressing is deeeelish! My BF had the angel hair a la greca w/chicken. His meal came with a personal garlic bread basket. I stole a couple of bites, it tasted like BUTTER(which I love) I will return and try their pizza, I have had their calzones for p/u in the past and those were great too.

I would rate this place 4.5 stars for Alaska and 3.5 for other places. For Alaska this is a great restaurant, if you are from New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or Portland it is about average. Sorrento’s if my favorite Italian place out of the five in Anchorage that I have tried so far and might be my favorite restaurant in town overall. Sorrento’s food is great. I would recommend the Chicken a la Sorrento with the Alfredo sauce on your pasta. It costs a couple of bucks extra to get the Alfredo sauce but it is worth it. Is the food the top quality in the world? No. For this area it is probably the most consistent and flavorful food I have found. I have had seafood here and enjoyed it a lot also I am just stuck in a rut. The service is good to great depending on how busy they are. Don’t expect a view, there aren’t even any windows. Not uncommon for restaurants here in town and especially this area of town. It can get a little bit loud on busy nights but the food makes it worth it. Try it!

My husband and I came here in a weekday at 7 and there was only 2 or 3 other parties, but by the time we left they were ¾s full. We got the chicken valbostana and chicken portobello, both were very delicious! The bolognese suace was light, but the other veggies in the valbostana were ok. The portobello was super good!!! Very hearty :) the minestrone and Caesar salad were good starters, not too much and they brought the garlic bread with the entrees so we didn’t get too full before hand. Our server was super friendly and the pace of dining was perfect! I’m sure we will be back!

The food is barely 2 stars. The ambiance is 2 stars. The service is 3 stars. There’s a bar area. But it’s completely devoid of like anything. It’s incredibly bland and generic in terms of ambiance /décor. And you can’t order food at the bar. The seating area is dark and probably supposed to be romantic. But it’s more like an undecorated old restaurant with dimmed way down lights. But it’s not horribly unpleasant or anything. The server was very nice and attentive. So big pluses there. The wine list is pretty crappy. The house salad that comes with the pastas and entrees was basically a bunch of lettuce. The angel hair basil bolognese I ordered had neither basil nor bolognese. And while there were plenty of mushrooms, artichokes, and green peppers in it, they were of poor quality and weren’t exactly cooked. I asked for a side of the meat sauce to see if that was any better. It did indeed look similar to the«bolognese» covering the angel hair pasta. Put it even more overwhelmingly tasted like icky Chef Boyardee from a can. The best thing at this point was actually the garlic bread that was brought out with the pasta. Far better than even the cheapo wine. Since I was still quite hungry(because I couldn’t suffer through the icky pasta dish), I decided to take a gander at the dessert menu. I ordered the spumoni. Seemed safe. And hurray, the ice cream was filing and tasted normal. So in sum, if you actually want some decent pasta, don’t come here.
