The waiter was nice and the ceased salad was very good. I felt the pasta was very mediocre though. I would go here again but I would get salad and no pasta. I would recommend going to this restaraunt.

This place is awesome for lunch! My co-worker and I showed up a little after the lunch rush, around 1ish or so. The staff was super friendly and the food was served fast and fresh! However, the more you add to your pasta the more it costs, in other words the add ons add up quickly! I always get a pasta bowl, but they do have sandwiches. They have a cool, trendy space and in the summer they put out little tables out front. They also serve beer and wine.

Such a great location. I have eaten here three time on the way to work. I want them to succeed so bad that I kept going. The gluten free pasta with red sauce and chicken was not great the chicken microwaved and the pasta turned to mush. Next I had a meatball special sandwich(panino?) the bread part tasted raw the red pepper sauce was watery and the meatballs dry. Third the Caesar was fine but overpriced… Okay though they have a great space next to three restaurants makes this kind of a dining strip… I would go back to the drawing board on at least the sandwiches and the choice concept is a bit dated but it is clean and has internet… oh and stella on tap which is redeemable.

Italian food– meet McDonald’s. I ordered a panino with artichokes and sausage. It came out quickly. There were two small chunks of artichokes and rubbery, overcooked sliced sausage. There was a hard piece of mozzarella that was barely melted and sub-par marinara sauce. The worst part was the bread. It also had wilted lettuce stuffed in it. Store bought over-processed flat bread that barely would bend. I took a few bites and threw the rest away.

I’ve been here a few times and the running trend is severely dousing the pasta dishes with the main sauce; be it pesto and an inch of olive oil at the bottom of your pasta bowl, or waaayyy too much creamy red pepper sauce. It feels like they’re trying to make up for something, which could be the ‘pricey for what you get’ food, and even more expensive add-ons. Either way I leave with bad indigestion. The last straw for me was asking for the gluten-free pasta, and getting regular. No more, folks.

Just to start off, parking is awful. Parking out of the way, this place is a pasta bowl take-out place. It reminds me of make-your-own-pasta day at Dining Facility #3 in Balad, Iraq in 2006. If that sounds like a bad thing to you, you don’t know what deployment DFACs are like, especially at big bases. It’s all customizable. I got a marinara and alfredo blend with onions, garlic and mushrooms. My pasta was angel hair, my protein was italian sausage. The flavor was just spectacular, everything about it was good. I’ll definitely be back.

Our team(14 girls and 4 coaches) came here for a quick dinner before watching another match. You order pasta and it’s made right there! There are a lot of options for pasta, sauces, and toppings. Note that to add meat it’s about $ 4! Very casual ambiance, with fresh ingredients! I had marinara sauce with angel hair pasta. My toppings were caramelized onions, mushrooms, basil, and artichoke hearts. The pesto was AMAZING but the Alfredo sauce left a little to desire. Make sure you add the order of cheesy bread with basil pesto!

It is a «pasta bowl» type of place with paper bowls and plastic utensils, with ordering at the counter. For this type of place, however, the food was really quite good and the price is very inexpensive! We enjoyed the Caesar salad which was excellent, a shrimp pasta bowl and the chicken pasta bowl.

Solid, no fuss choice. GREAT if you have kids and need lots of options. Friendly staff and the food is surprisingly good. Not a «date night» place, but fills a need: no waiting and reasonable prices. Oh, and they even have gluten free spaghetti.

I had a groupon to use up, so I ventured in. Sparse surroundings, it seems like they could use more tables. I ordered the angel hair pasta with the marinara sauce and extra everything including sausage, cheese, basil, etc. I really don’t think it would have been tasty had I not made all the additions. Plus side: beer and wine served. Down side: I probably won’t be back. Good luck to the owners of this restaurant, but I fear they will have a tough time making it.

After seeing Pasta Avanti open for a few weeks now, I finally decided to give it a lunch time chance on Friday. The place was dead empty with zero customers(outside of myself) and two workers. Service was quick and HOLDYOURBREATH; my order was up quickly(Less than two minutes). I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken and fresh shaved Parmesan cheese. Everything was pre-cooked at Pasta Avanti, which made for a quick order. The sauce tasted like cheap canned Alfredo, with zero appeal for taste or consistency. The grilled chicken was rubbery and lacked any flavor or texture one would expect of, «Grilled Chicken». Pasta Avanti current business practice is one of speed and convenience. However if they don’t begin the day with quality food, no amount of speed will have customers giving applause and becoming return customers…

I choose the yummy pasta bowl: choice of two veggies, assortment of different pasta types — and they had gluten free spaghetti! and then choice of Sauce woot! I had asparagus with sun dried tomatoes. Gluten free spaghetti with extra pesto sauce and fresh basil. $ price was 8.50 or 8.75 range. Very satisfied — sufficient portions and efficient fast service. I had a good feeling about this place and Pasta Avanti delivered. Cheers

Whoa! I don’t know if it was because I came near closing time(30 minutes till) or because it was a groupon, but someone was a bit mean. Looking impatient, grabbing my phone and card roughly, almost dropping my phone, shoving things, and just not being a positive Polly, I was a bit put off. Was I taking my time too much? Was I doing something I wasn’t supposed to? What did I do that you were so abrupt with me? The next transaction I looked closely to see if the next customer got the same treatment. Sort of, but not as rude. I thought, well maybe it’s their personality or they’re just tired today, or they’re tired of groupon customers. Either way, could’ve been a bit more courteous. Food was good. I don’t like the pita bread with it. It doesn’t go well. Prices are good. Please be nicer.

My wife and I ate here on August 27, 2014 between 5:30PM — 6PM We ordered the pasta bowl with Mariana sauce, vegetables & sliced meatballs. There was very little Mariana sauce on the pasta. Our meal was very dry and appeared warmed up. It did not taste freshly prepared to us. The sliced meatballs were burned around the edges and very dry. There were not very many vegetables. We did not see how anyone could serve a meal like we received. It was not very visually appealing to us. My wife saw a lady in the food preparation area placing a bag of the sliced meatballs in the refrigerator. The sliced meatballs looked all burned around the edges. My wife could not finish her meal. I had a difficult time finishing my meal. The person at the cash register appeared to be the owner and was very nice. After our meal he asked us how the food was. I wanted to be honest with him but I was uncomfortable about hurting his feelings. I will express our feelings here to possible help him to improve. I would have rather done this critique on a suggestions card in private if there would have been one on the table. The experience did not leave us with a desire to return again for a future meal even though we may have just been there on a bad day.

I’m always happy when another lunch option gets added to Downtown Anchorage. Besides, it is really hard to mess up a bowl of pasta. This restaurant has a simple concept and a straight forward menu.

Really good taste & value. A group of ladies & I ordered several items & shared so we could taste them all. Everything is well-seasoned and fresh as far as the pasta bowls & salads go. The pita & dip needs work: the bread was a little stale & the marinara dip okay. The owners are super friendly, and the concept mirrors what I’ve been seeing pop up in Seattle & Portland. I am looking forward to taking my pasta-crazed hubby here :)

If I could have dreamt about a restaurant coming to anchorage it would have been exactly like Pasta Avanti!!! Not only is it locally owned, it’s pasta that I can customize and it’s affordable! I’ve been there a few times now each time choosing a different creation. I’ve been so pleased! It’s super fast and everyone is so friendly there! I cannot wait to try it all!

Great food, very fast and nice new place downtown. Always nice to get pasta and not pay 20+ for it. It’s a nice build your own pasta bowl. You pick the past then the sauce then your veggies then you can add meat if you would like. I had the pesto and it was great. Very nice place great for stoping in for a nice quick meal you didn’t have to make. I will be back again.
