The prices are steep for what you get but the food didn’t kill us. My biggest complaint is the environment of the place. Their music was being played via Pandora radio and the only reason I know that is because the«click here now» ads were still playing because Firetap didn’t pay the subscription fee to run the music ad free. Also, the TV placement was very strange. Some TVs actually block other TVs. Not good for sporting events. Hmm… just changed my rating from a 3 to a 2. Service was ok.

Food was bland and way over priced. I mean 12.50 for cheese and bread? This place sucks. The service sucks, the food sucks, and the prices suck. This place is never busy because its shitty. It not be in business much longer, hopefully we get something worth a damn in tikahtnu because this place just sucks! We won’t be returning. I encourage you to stay away!

Very in consistent! And pricey. Have yet to go and have a great meal. Would suggest a different restaurant instead.

I don’t understand how this place is still in business. It all tastes like warmed up Costco food. I’ve tried to like it– truly– but after a handful of visits I just can’t. Service stinks, prices are high for mediocre food, and beer is over priced. The only thing they have going for them is location.

Honestly the service is very poor, you have to wait 1 million years to just get seated and generally the tables are pretty dirty along with the rest of the restaurant. One thing I don’t like is that the servers always have a bad attitude. The food is kind of strangely priced. I feel like the salads were made a couple days before. I guess I just expected more?

Both restaurants in town have the worst service I have ever encountered. Don’t waste your money or time at this place. Food comes from a can. Nothing special here.

Can someone explain how Firetap is successful enough to have two locations and still remain open? The one time I came to this location was the first time in years since I’ve been to a Firetap. Not much has changed. Some friends and I went here to get a snack and a drink before we went to watch the new James Bond movie. We ordered some martinis(duh) and a quick appetizer(chips and salsa). The salsa was the stuff you get from the plastic container at Costco. The martinis were small and not very flavorful — likely using bottom shelf swill at mid-shelf prices. The amount of chips was underwhelming and stingy. For $ 11 or however much the waste of money was, you’d think they could at least compensate for the poor salsa by giving you enough chips. Service was standoffish. It wasn’t very busy but it was still not easy to get a hold of our server. The menu was way too big. When a place can easily offer over 100 dishes, you know that there is no real specialty to the place, items are pre made or pre packed to make it easier to dispense, and it surely won’t taste that great. The beers were overpriced. It was probably the most expensive bar menu I’ve seen in a restaurant in Anchorage. There are a handful of other restaurants in the Commons, and I’d recommend anything over Firetap.

I was super excited to do their happy hour, as my husband and I love doing happy hour for the small portions. I looked at the happy hour menu ahead of time on the website. When my husband and I got to Fire Tap, no mention of the happy hour specials as the menus were removed from the tables. The server tried to remember from memory what the food specials were during the happy hour. Additionally, the website had a happy hour drink menu. The Fire Tap off Muldoon said they didn’t have any drink specials.

The food at Firetap is very hit and miss. Their menu is huge so it can be difficult to decide what to order if you’ve never been. I recommend the Two Topping Steak Burger or the Erupting Spud. Quesidillas are also good and the corn fritters. They have cheap appetizers that are also good. I’ve had some entrees there that were not very good though and the prices are also high as well. I’ve been to Firetap many times though because it’s close to base, offers a large menu, I know what foods are good and what items are not, it’s clean, plenty of seating and it’s great for football games. They have a ton of TVs. Great place to meet up with friends for a drink and some appetizers but just be careful what you order! Good luck!

Super disappointing. It’s super convenient to get too, which makes it attractive, but I’ve given it 2 tries now and it didn’t improve. 1. Had a 10 min wait when we walked in. No biggie, except there were LOTS of open tables that didn’t look dirty and we were seated at one of them. Horrible hostess. I don’t think she understands her job title. 2. Food took forever to get out to us and I mean over an hour! We are that couple that orders an appetizer waits a bit and then orders our food, so we can enjoy all of our app. Potato skins were delish btw(the one redeeming factor). We finished our app and then waited a good 30 more minutes for our food to arrive. That was a first… 3. Our dinner was super disappointing! I ordered Alaskan cod fish and chips. What I got was fish sticks and fries. Literally 3 small fish sticks and it wasn’t all that great for being a «special«. Being in Alaska, I was expecting a fillet of fish– boy was I wrong! Husband ordered a sandwich which he just boxed up and took home, but ended up «fixing» it later that night. It was edible, meat was good but there were very few sautéed onions and cheese. 4. Waitress was great, she worked hard to keep us happy. Kitchen sucked. Manager took off almost 50% of bill for the long wait, which was nice but we won’t be giving them another try. We can get the beer they have on tap lots of other places.

Shells were still on the shrimp in my pasta. It tastes disgusting and had hard, literally un chewable chunks of «fish» all over… so disgusting.

Went here for the first time and was not very impressed! First the hostess came up to us and asked, «do you need something?» In the most annoyed tone. We responded that we would like a table for 2. Then the 2 of us were sat at a 6 – 8 person table so it felt very awkward to eat alone at a table that big.(There were so many other smaller available tables too so it was strange) My friend has a lot of food allergies and asked about a few of the items. All our waitress said is that she wasn’t sure because what we asked about came out of a bag but she did eventually go ask someone that knew. Then the order was completely messed up. Also their ice tea is a weird instant powder taste. I will say their potato skins and calzones were really good.

I have just been seriously underwhelmed with either of these places. It seems the food is almost always on the cheap/bland/basic side — like a snack food place, not a serious restaurant. I didn’t enjoy the food, I wasn’t impressed with the service — I’ve been to both locations several times, and I would just rather find another place anymore.

Been here 3 times, gotten sick 3 times!!! How do you get sick from a pretzel and cheese??? I will never return to the Muldoon rd location or the O’Malley location. I have heard the same thing from many of my friends. How is this place still open? NEVERAGAIN!

I have been here a few times. It. Is. Such. A. Mess. One visit: The«manager» was in the back literally flipping her hair around and running her fingers through it — and then running plates! I got a wrap of some sort, But i honestly couldn’t enjoy it in fear of hair being on or in it. Another visit: I got the Cajun pasta. It tasted great! Until I got food poisoning within hours of eating it. The wait staff is judgmental and catty. Its dark and uncomfortable. The menu items are inconsistent and over priced for what you actually get. The bathrooms are nice with live plants though. Thats it’s only redeeming factor. I have only tried this location, but I havent heard anything good about this place. I havent been back since I got food poisoning.

OK, so a 2-star review initially, but I keep going back. It’s just a really great place to do some weekend bar hanging. A good atmosphere, decent food if you know what to order. So far, the burger has been the best thing, with the garlic chicken pizza coming in second. A little advice on the pizza, eat it fast, I think they’re using legit cheese which seems to get really chewy when it cools. Not a big fan of their wings, why baked wings? The bar is where Firetap gets its 4-star rating. Goose Island IPA for $ 3 a pint, that’s ridiculous. The staff is friendly and funny. I think I found my place to watch football for the season.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. I wouldn’t waste a penny in this establishment. Is it possible to rate this wouldn’t stars? If so, it’s not even getting one. The establishment looks to be open, well lit and clean, but do not let the looks fool you. This place is not top notch. For starters, their waitresses(sorry, not sorry) look like a mess. And let me explain by this, this includes their unflattering clothing ie. clothing too tight, chests about to pop free from their shirts, skirts too short and bras showing from their sides. While this is what the guys might be interested in, however very far from professional and classy looking women. Not to mention a few of their waitresses attitudes are terrible. Onto their food, I’m still not impressed. Their menus are overwhelming. And even if you ask to leave out a component due to an allergy, and they comply that it is doable — you somehow still end up with that same ingredient you asked them not to put on. Either there’s a complete disconnect within the communication chain between the customer to waitress to cook or just a complete disregard of what’s written on their notepads. Hell, actually I’m impressed our waitress kept coming back after disappearing for long amounts of time. I could understand tending to other tables but straight up not out on the floor and just flat out missing? I wish I could say this is based on just one instance, however it is not. I’ve given Firetap Alehouse second, third and even fourth chances over the span of a few years. And that was solely based on friends preference for their going away events, just because their ability to accommodate large groups. Just the thought of people mentioning this restaurant makes me cringe. *Btw, there is a no star option, however I don’t believe it gets calculated into the restaurants statistics. Therefore one lousy star it is.

Ok, talk about oink, oink, oink! This place is amazeballs. The severing sizes at this place you could easily split it with someone! Diet Wuuuuuuuuuut, ya I blew it here! I don’t like fish, and thought when in Alaska… so I tried my husband’s fish and chips. Super awesomeness. Ate the whole fish(and if you know me, that doesn’t happen) l had a wrap of awesomeness. I seriously could only eat ¼ of it. This place was clean, bathroom was super clean… that’s always a plus. Waitress was on it and staff was really nice. Go check this place out!

This was an a-ok place. There’s not many non-fast casual options at Tikahtnu Commons. And, of course, anything with«alehouse» in the title is going to catch my interest. When I ate here on a late afternoon, it was next to empty. It’s small – ish with a main dining area and then a bar area. It’s kinda bare bones-ish and simple. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The beer list is alright. Not exactly«alehouse» worthy, but heads above many other restaurants. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad and pretzel. The pretzel was huge and piping hot. Pretty tasty. The cheese was boring and bland, but the pretzel was good enough quality that you could overlook the cheese dip. The salad was on the smaller side. Everything seemed fresh enough. Plenty of blue cheese crumbles and dressing and whatnot. All in all, this was an a-ok experience. The service was good. The food was edible. Definitely not worth a special trip. But if you’re shopping at Tikahtnu or catching a movie there, this is an ok spot for a bite to eat.

Gross, gross, GROSS food & service is pretty horrible too. Came around 950pm on a weekday. Place was pretty empty and we were greeted by our hostess/server. She told us that the kitchen closed in 4 mins, laid our menu down and walked away. Then came back 2 mins later asking what we wanted to drink. We told her then she dropped off the drinks and walked away. She didn’t come back for another 5mins to take our order, and she didn’t come back on her own either. I had to flag her down because she was wiping tables down on the other end of the restaurant. If you’re telling us that the kitchen closes«in 4 mins» upon our arrival, I would expect you to be ONIT to get our food order in. She made us feel rushed yet she was the one dragging her feet. Food was sooo nasty– I literally only took two bites. I had the Cajun chicken fettuccine and it tasted like it had a whole bottle of Cajun seasoning powder poured over Alfredo sauce. It was soo salty! Barely any chicken in it either! We also had the HH pork sliders. The meat was soooo dry! Probably some of the worst food I’ve ever had. So GROSS!
