always delicious. everything on this menu is great, you cant go wrong. portions are hefty. excited for the interstate location to open back up so there isnt always a wait when we go.

We were there for a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes because the service was so bad. Go somewhere else.

Great food. The steaks are always comes exactly to order. I like mine medium rare and it’s usually very close. The prime rib is wonderful but make sure they have the medium rare/​rate available before ordering if you like it that way. The croissant rolls that come with the salads are awesome and the she crab bisque is wonderful. The salads, even the ones that come with the dinners, are very satisfying. My son lives the tuna steak sandwich. And the salmon when I’ve had it has been perfect – not dry or overcooked like some places.

When this place first open it was pretty good but I haven’t been in a while. Huge disappointment.
Took 27 minutes after seated to get a server to take our order. The drinks came out 31 minutes after order and food an hour and 11 minutes. We were given uncooked Mac and cheese and a raw buger with nothing on it. We sent to burger back but by the time it came back we were just ready to go. They didn’t even try to comp our bill or offer anything for this pathetic service.
Total wait time from order the check 1:29 and didn’t even eat/​finish our food.
Worst service and staff of any place I have ever been in. No tip and wrote that the food was uncooked on the check. Not going back anytime soon.

First experience here and most likely will be the last. Order was simple enough, a bacon cheddar cheese burger. Pretty hard to screw up right? Apparently not, they brought my burger out with no bacon, when I brought it to her attention she quickly headed to the kitchen and 10 minutes later came out with what appeared to be fryed fat back. Me nor my wife could even chew it so I pushed it to the side. She did apologize and took the bacon off the bill, the burger was bland and tasted un seasoned, for $ 10 I was not impressed. I’ve had better burgers from hardees. Will not be returning.

Always enjoy eating here with the family in Anderson. Good food and atmosphere. Love the house burger and the relatives chow down on the J Peters salad which never leaves them much room for the potatoe skins. You would think they would learn. Their beer selection could use some expansion. About dozen craft beers would help them get 5 stars.

Another terrible experience at j peters I think this time I have learned my lesson. Do not recommend unless you want a hit or miss with mostly miss. Sad could have been a great place for Anderson. Btw. Wings awfully greasy with watered down blue cheese dressing. General manager rude. Sad sad sad.

Great place for the price. You get a lot of really good food. And it’s well made. It only lacks the farmers market quality that some have. Will eat again and again.

Worst salmon ever!!! Taste like fatback! Swear to God. Service was good, but I’ve never tasted fish like that, it taste more like bar b q pork than fish. Still scratching my head?

I’ve been here numerous times and while I will say they make a great burger, the food at their Downtown Anderson location continues to rise in prices and it’s just not worth it anymore. I’d rather pay the same price for better food and service elsewhere.

J. Peters is one of our family’s go-​to casual
restaurants. They have fantastic salads and I really love their she-​crab soup (having grown up on the coast, I’ve had a lot in my time). My husband always gets their burgers and really enjoys them. Overall, great service and really good food. The one drawback is that it can get pretty loud in there.

Will never eat here again.
Food is over seasoned. Staff was not friendly at all. We had a major issue with our food and never saw a glimpse of a manager. Seems like a rip-​off of California Dreaming or Copper River Grill. Only thing is, those restaurants are just better.

Not a terrific place. The food is mediocre at best (my steak was overcooked an under-​seasoned, and the side salad is nothing but iceberg lettuce doused in dressing with some almonds and bacon), and the service is slow (it took 5+ minutes for someone to initially come to the table to take our drink order, and the place wasn’t even close to being busy). Frankly, just not worth the money.

Food is good but service is not so good. Second time I’ve been here and server didn’t even know there was a table that had been sat in her section. When finally approached on the most recent visit, a girl said, have you not gotten your drinks yet? Nope, we haven’t even been greeted by a server. She was nice enough to get us drinks but had to tell us she couldn’t serve our table as she had already closed out for the night. When our server finally did come over, she was prompt, but it seemed like we were a hindrance to her.

The food is average. It’s not delicious but its not awful. We were visiting family in Anderson for Christmas and this is one of their favorite restaurants so we came here for dinner one night. I would never crave a meal from here but I wouldn’t shun a meal here either. It’s ok and the prices are ok. I had the fried founder sandwich. I doused it with mustard to give it some flavor. The fries were soggy and the tartar sauce tasted like nothing (a waste of calories in my opinion).

Good food at a decent price.

Decent restaurant, excellent bartender, good service. The food was aggressively uninspiring, but entirely edible.
Décor was a little on the loud side and yes, this is South Carolina so there is still smoking in the restaurant… shame really. And something encourages the patrons to wear jeans, hospital scrubs, and tee-​shirts to an otherwise very nice venue in an emergent downtown scene.
So… three stars because it may be the best of Anderson’s options and is in no way bad. BUT, it does not warrant the overly effusive 4 or 5 star rating as it was just good. Not great… good.
May go back… not sure.

J Peters Bar & Grille… i ate at the bar, good variety of draft and bottle beer and had the j peters salad — mixed greens, egg, bacon and grilled chicken breast. the chicken was great!, cooked so it was moist, not all dried out and there was a lot of it. second time i have eaten here, both times very good.
Note: smoking in the bar area/​lounge is still allowed (it’s SC, y’all) and if that will bother you the restaurant portion has no smoking allowed.

The place is just fine for a casual meal. Décor is just fine for the type of place this is — old building — bar and grill… The staff was great — attentive and careful to check on us. Started with their house salad — it was excellent — it was huge! Ordered the bourbon salmon… Also huge. My wife got their mashed potatoes. which I thought were delicious. I had a baked potato — no complaints.
The salmon was over seasoned for my taste, but I will admit that the waiter suggested that people either love it or not. He told us it was a very seasoned piece of fish.
As everyone says the portions are huge. I suggest splitting the main course.
We will be back — our neighbors suggest that the burgers are excellent.
