When I was a kid, the(American) South seemed like some other world. People talked funny, everything was older than in the North(Wisconsin), and they ate at places like Waffle House. My dad was pretty excited to take me to my first Waffle House when we took a trip down south. He shared with me the secret language of how to top your hashbrowns — capped, smothered, scattered all the way! I’m guessing the reason I like to eat at WH is the same reason most regulars do — familiarity, reliable and cheap food, and maybe a few good memories growing up. I have stopped at this WH several times on my way home from meetings in Fort Wayne. Maybe it’s a stress reliever. All I know is, I can get crispy hasbrowns with jalepenos and cheese and a pecan waffle any time, for an awesome price. And even though we’re talking northern Indiana here, the servers always seem vaguely Southern, which adds to the charm. Side note: grits are gross. WH’s are no exception. You literally have to try them once to say you did, but you will be sorry.

Okay guys, let’s be honest. This is a Waffle House, one of those old timer local or passerby motorist spots. It’s not meant to be your high standard, fancy breakfast joint. If you are looking for a quick stop and go sit down meal, this isn’t a bad place to stop. In fact, I’ve had worse food at higher ranked establishments. The waitress was helpful, and even offered an alternative way to order the items for out kids, making it cheaper. Breakfast was filling and the coffee was fresh.

I didn’t expect this to be 5 star but come on. Very dirty and staff was rude. Staff members talking negative about other staff members next to us. Staff member spills sugar on our table and didn’t clean it up. Cooks playing with their cell phones while preparing food. Steak and eggs was disgusting.

Always love Waffle House, great food and great staff! I have been going to Waffle House for years and it’s always the same great food. All-star breakfast is the way to go

This is a great place to head to late at night after you leave a nightclub. Head on in and grab some breakfast food at 3 in the morning. Why not? It’s not the cleanest place in the world, and last time I was there I believe they allowed smoking inside, but like I said, it’s perfect for late at night.

awesome for late night… Loretta and Cyndi are very friendly, and Jim has the grill down to an art! It’s actually mesmerizing to watch him at midnight on a Friday night. Interesting crowd of people there at that hour, too.

The good news? I had a wonderful breakfast sandwich of egg, cheese and bacon grilled on Texas toast for a late«breakfast» about 3pm on Sept 11th. And good coffee. The bad news? I left my beautiful new lavender Kodak 10 mp camera with over 350 pictures in it on the seat and when I realized a couple of hours later, I called and it wasn’t there. How could they not see it when they cleaned the table and seats? I had taken pics of all my ancestors graves, every restaurant and store I went to on my trip(and on two previous trips, one to Davis in July and one to Arizona in August), darn near every meal I ate(to post on Unilocal when I got home), and my mother’s memorial service, which was the reason for being in Indiana in the first place. I still haven’t given up hope it will be returned to me – I left a description and my address with them. Cross your fingers and think positive thoughts for me!
