The options are endless and everything is delicious. Strange system of one staff member taking your order, making it and then cashing you out. There could be more effective ways. I would definitely go there again for lunch.

Anyone who’s ever had a good bagel knows the product here is a joke, but it remains very popular because it’s there, because there’s little competition, and because few experienced or demanding bagel eaters can be found around here. The bagels here are bland, very small, not crusty, tend to be soft, and are conventionally flavored — almost the opposite of Zingerman’s’ overly hard, dense, over-designed but equally small bagels. At Barry’s, as almost everywhere else in Ann Arbor, none of the generosity, heartiness, bitability, or memorable taste is offered to the casual clueless drop-in diner needing his daily token Jewish delicacy. If you can find an Einstein’s Bagels(one is hidden deep inside the University Hospital) go for it, though even those barely hold a candle to NY’s — or even West Bloomfield’s — finest.

Best bagel I’ve ever had the joy of eating. Salt and everything are my favorite but their honey wheat is pretty amazing too! Plenty of seating and quick, friendly service. During the school year it can be somewhat congested with out of towers visiting, but the bagels are totally worth it!

Don’t let the(likely) long line scare you. — it moves fast. And the servers are friendly and efficient. Their Amaretto coffee is delicious. I drink it black and it truly needs nothing added. My son always gets the egg cheese combo on a toasted blueberry bagel. I tried it and can see why it’s a favorite. They’re all about $ 5 but are generously sized. The bagels are New York style, my fave(another reviewer described them well: fluffy and chewy, with a little crisp). I chose the Farmer’s bagel without onions. Again, generous portion and well prepared. I opted for a package of their chocolate chip bagel chips while waiting in line. I’d pass on them next time. Simply adding chocolate chips to a bagel chip doesn’t do enough to feature the chocolate. Maybe lots of powdered sugar would help. I want any chocolate calories to count. :)

Ample in space & busting with the flavor and old neighborhood character this side of town is known for. Not a huge variety of bagels but enough so there’s something for everyone. I tried the vanilla cinnamon with a smidge of butter and brown cinnamon sugar. Less the guilt of cream cheese. Loved it. Brought a bundle home for the kids & the same vanilla cinnamon flavor was a big hit. Even for my daughter who is the blueberry diva. Nestled in Westgate shopping mall with multiple options for clothing, books, shoes, toys, and supplies shopping. Large updated Kroger next door for your convenience. Great location for breakfast and Holiday shopping. Prefer this to the chain eateries. Wish we had one on the Northeast end!

I can never complain when about a good bagel! I enjoy an everything bagel with lox, when served it is served with a pickle! The store is always busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and can be a bit confusing to know which employee is handling which customer, however that is expected from any business. I will be back for more bagels with cream cheese and lox!

This has to be the most expensive bagel shop I’ve ever been in. It’s also really slow. I will admit that the bagels are ONPOINT. They have the softest dough inside that I’ve ever encountered. They also have a lot of good, unique flavors. I used to work nearby and bought lunch a number of times, but I wouldn’t stray too far from the standard bagel option. They have really plain sandwiches, soups, and side salads that are twice as expensive as they should be. They seriously charged me over $ 15 for a standard size vegetarian sandwich and the worst cup of coffee… One more concession– the baked good are tantalizing. I always stare at the muffins and cookies longingly when I go for a bagel.

Truly great bagels(try the vanilla cinnamon bagel), high-quality deli meats, and a fast-moving line. The only negative is the lack of table-washing throughout the day. Please wash the tables, Barry’s!

Barry — can I call you Barry? First, I love your bagels. They’re delicious! Fresh and perfect. Wonderful, friendly staff. It’s fun to watch the bagel-making in the back. I have just one simple tweak of a suggestion: When a person takes your order, they should ask for your first name and let you know that they’ll call you when it’s ready. This signals to the customer that you can have a seat, relax, and that they’re done at the counter. Badda bing, badda boom! The system today works like this: 1. A friendly person takes your order, and walks away. 2. You stand there, wondering if you’re supposed to pay now(you’re not, not yet, you pay when your order is ready). 3. You shuffle forward towards the cash register wondering if you’re still in line. 4. You feel a little anxious about whether or not the cluster of people ahead of you are in line or not. 5. Once you arrive at the cash register, you try to make eye contact with a different friendly person. They engage and ask if you’ve been helped. Kind of? You’ve been 50% helped? 6. You now shuffle around in a loose cluster by the cash registers waiting 5 – 10 minutes for your order. Other people step in front of you to be rung up. No big deal, but causes a bit of anxiety your first few visits: Are you in the way? Are they cutting you in line? 7. Finally that first friendly person from #1 reappears with your order, hands you your food, and rings you up. So! Just taking each person’s first name and calling them once the order is ready would allow folks to relax, have a seat, and chat with their friends /family for a few minutes as they wait patiently. Thanks for listening! Love those bagels!

Love Barry’s! Eat in or carry out — excellent bagels that are soft inside and perfectly crusted outside. And I love when I was buying an assortment for carry out, and the minute I asked for a garlic bagel they put it in another bag. Sweeet!

These bagels are the best in Ann Arbor. The place has a hard working freindly staff and has been providing great service to Ann Arbor residence my whole life and has never changed! I recommend the sandwiches(I like turkey, a toasted onion roll with jalapeño cream cheese, or a pizza bagel. Also the classic lox with capers and all the fixin’s! Yum!

As far as bagel places go, you won’t find better than Barry’s Bagels. Tucked back in the Westgate shopping plaza, Barry’s is a popular morning quick breakfast stop for all. Barry’s has a great selection of cream cheeses, sandwiches, soup and of course, bagels. My favorite is the Lox and cream cheese. Choose your bagel, toppings, smear and you can be out the door in about 5 minutes. The line can get long but once one of their friendly staff greets you, your order is all they focus on until you are rung up. Plenty of seating, parking and options for breakfast, lunch or afternoon snack. Take the kids to watch the kitchen works through the huge window into the kitchen, in the back of the dining area.

I remember when a dozen bagels at Barry’s was $ 3(.25/ea). Well things have changed, but the bagels are still the best. Whenever I am in Toledo or Ann Arbor it is a must have. I believe they are opening two more locations in the Sandusky area to cater to the Cedar Point crowd. Note, their salt bagels are the best anywhere period. Add some cream cheese and enjoy.

After all of these years it’s still a local favorite and it’s easy to see why: 1) High quality and wide selection of bagels, soups, and related foods. There are too many types of bagels to list here, but throw two random ingredients that could possibly be related to bagels, add«bagel» to the end of the two ingredients, and they probably have it. 2) Service. The person who takes your order is the person who creates your order is the person who takes your payment. You have a SPOC(single point of contact) for your entire experience, minimizing misunderstanding and optimizing your enjoyment. I’m very happy to see Barry Bagels is still doing well after all of these years. It’s an example of a local establishment that has resisted the chains.

My mom and I visited Barry’s today to get lunch for a group of people helping my sister and her family move. We had no idea how many bagels we wanted or what kinds. The employee waiting on us was super helpful! She was very patient in talking us through our options and efficient at getting the bagels sliced and packed to go. We ended up with a Barry’s dozen(14 bagels), a large tub of cream cheese, a bunch of apples, and one small coffee(it was early I needed some caffeine). The total price was $ 25 which was extremely reasonable. The bagels were absolutely delicious! My favorite was the sun dried tomato bagel, the asiago cheese came in a close second. I was also a huge fan of the hazelnut coffee. I will remember Barry Bagels for the next time I’m in Ann Arbor. Definitely recommend!

You know, I gotta give props to this place for keeping up with how busy they get on a weekend lunch rush. I’ve been a few times and have always marveled at their efficiency. They have a zillion people working and they keep the line moving expertly. Sometimes times that line is OCC and I walk in thinking«ehhh, I should go.» Then I remember how fast it moves and and I stick around, in and out in no time. My only recent complaint is that I got a bag of 4 bagels and asked for a tub of cream cheese to go with them. The tub was about half full and only enough for 2 bagels. Granted, I like to slather the ish out of my bagels so for a normal person that was probably enough but a tub’s a tub. I’ll have to be more specific next time, I guess. Still, my order was otherwise perfect and I ordered quite a bit – both to go and to eat there. Very impressive.

Great Bagels! I love how they have flavors that are different than what you may find at Panera(spinach/feta, pumpernickel). In addition, their cream cheese is much better than other bagel places. They have a ton of sandwiches, and sides in addition to muffins and coffee. The only bad thing about Barry’s is that they open at 7AM during the week. That seems kind of late, I wish they opened at 6:30 so I could get a bagel before I leave for work BUT they are open late, which is great for dinner. Bagels are reasonably priced.
