I love Benny’s. I had only been here once until a week ago. The first time, I got the gyro omelette(super good!) but hadn’t come back in almost a year. Then I was craving a club sandwich the other day and decided Benny’s would probably be my best shot. I was SO pleased with my sandwich! The bacon was super crispy and perfect, and they cook and carve their own turkey in house! No processed deli meat on my club, just perfect, fresh turkey breast. They also have really good fries; probably my favorite I’ve found in A2 so far. I went back to Benny’s tonight fully intending on trying something else, but I ended up with another club sandwich. Too good to pass up. Hubs got the gyro sandwich, which was also good(and he liked his burger the other day, too!) Reasonable prices, yummy food, nice people. Ann Arbor has proven to be unimpressive foodwise, but Benny’s is just that good ol’ diner every town needs. Sometimes you just want good food and don’t want to fight downtown traffic or make a big deal of it. Benny’s. Just go to Benny’s.

Had excellent burgers and fried, fresh buns and toppings! Prices were good as was the service! Thanks for a great meal at a great little dinner!

Reliable quality and reliable service. Standard American food. I know I’ll get a good meal with no surprises at Benny’s. I’ve been going there for years.

Overrated and expensive. Wanted to like this place but after paying $ 20 for a hotel waffle and a side of mediocre hash browns I’m not coming back. It’s Coney Island quality for unfair prices.

First visit today for breakfast. The line outside gave us a clue that the food was good. We weren’t disappointed as it was delicious and the service was great. Seemed clean and like a good run family restaurant. We will be back!

Benny’s is our neighborhood diner, and boy are we grateful for it. The breakfast crew are all pros — longtime employees who are both extremely efficient and super friendly and kind. The food is standard diner fare. The pancakes and omelettes are highlights, and the hashed browns are our favorites in town. The owner — Benny — is a gregarious fellow who knows all of his regulars and is likely to sit down and chat. Go to Benny’s, enjoy the food, and you too may find yourself a Benny’s regular.

4 stars for family dining breakfast done right. We started coming here before or after football games and have become fans of Benny’s. There’s nothing fancy about it. Comfy booths, friendly and efficient service, and really good food(even when they are busy). The hash browns are crispy, the omelets perfectly cooked, the coffee acceptably strong(and refills are frequent). My husband is a fan of the corn beef hash. Portions are generous, so plan accordingly. Parking in front and to the side of the establishment and they do take credit cards.

Two friends and I came here for Sunday breakfast after a long weekend reunion. And it was as good as we remembered! I had the southern omelet, which comes with sausage, hash brown, onions, and cheese folded inside and sausage gravy on top. It was fan-freaking-tastic. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. The prices are excellent. And it was just great to recap the weekend and see many groups of clearly hungover college students getting their hangover breakfasts in. What it must feel like to be young again…

Solid diner. Quick service, good food. We had simple eggs + meat + hash browns and were quite pleased. They had a high chair for our kid and made him another scrambled egg quickly after he ate his first one and was still hungry.

Definitely my favorite place in Ann Arbor. Living one block away, this is my go-to place. The food is great and the staff are nice(Allie is by far my favorite waitress, but the others are great too). Completely worth checking out, especially after 2pm, when the movement dies out and you can check the place for what it is.

I started going while I was an undergrad, oh some years ago. It has changed a lot since then. The two things that haven’t is the cheap(for AA) food and delicious omelettes. Sadly the word has got out to the other UGs and they come stumbling in on the weekends after a long night of studying ;). They’re generally very fast and always keep that coffee cup filled.

I really wanted to like this place. Previous reviews led me to expect a real good quality diner/family restaurant. I am always on the lookout for a good, reasonably priced diner/family restaurant. The offbeat location(S Industrial) and crowd(on a Sunday morning) seemed promising. We were seated promptly, and our waitperson was pleasant and friendly but totally clueless. A question about the soup selection was met with a deer-in-the-headlights reaction and a panicked run to the kitchen. ATTENTIONWAITSTAFF: you will probably be asked about the soup selection several times during your shift; a professional approach would be to find out when you begin your shift. My partner got eggs and biscuits with sausage gravy; I got a large chef’s salad. The eggs were delivered as ordered; the sausage gravy was a depressing pasty, white glop dumped on top of a few biscuits. If there was any sausage present, it was hiding. My chef’s salad was obviously a bagged salad mix, with deli meat and a ton of shredded cheese on top, served with a toxic orange thousand island dressing. I had to practically tackle our waitress every time I wanted a refill of coffee. At some point she threw two separate checks on the table; a more professional approach would be to enquire whether we wanted one check or two. The only reason I mention this is that other diners/family restaurants in Ann Arbor do this routinely. At some point during our meal, a manager/owner type got into a loud, unpleasant argument with a busboy; lovely. If you enjoy this type of experience, then this place is for you.

Standard breakfast-all-day diner that’s really popular among students(especially athletes). I was invited here all the time during undergrad, but I never fell in love with it the way that some people do. It is a cookie cutter diner in every way. Decent black coffee, nice selection of omelets, appropriately greasy hashbrowns, and straightforward pancake/french toast options on the sweet side. Good for a breakfast anytime of the day. Never had anything non-breakfast, so I can’t speak to that. One plus: their servers are super awesome :)

Family diners arent really a thing back in California. So, when driving into the Midwest, I was excited to see all of these family run food establishments! I was hoping for warm service, all American comfort food. However, a diner is a diner is a diner, and Benny’s family Dining isnt any different from any other average diner I’ve been to in my life. Standard fare– eggs, pancakes, burgers, fried stuff. They have gyros too, which I might try next time, since I live across the street. I dunno. Nothing to rave about. This place serves standard food at a price that is deserving

Benny is the best. Also I love the lady who works the counter with the curly hair. Amazing breakfast at a low price. I love the omelets and the turkey clubs are made with fresh, homemade turkey. This lovely establishment epitomizes the Midwest: big portions, friendly service and happy customers. If you can’t get into Angelos, come here. They love U of M students. And don’t disrespect this special place or I’ll come after you…

Came here for breakfast on a recent Sunday with my kids(7 of us in all) and the seating was a bit tight but they managed to get us all in at the corner booth which we were fine with. The breakfasts here are quite solid and very filling! I had the bacon & cheese omelette which came with hash browns and toast. I could not finish all the potatoes and all the others at the table were quite full. It was pretty busy when we got there(9 a.m.) and by the time we left around 10 there were people waiting outside. A nice little spot to grab a good bite to eat!

The boy and I split the vegetarian omelette, which comes with hash browns and toast, and three blueberry pancakes. I was pleased to find the pancakes highly densely dotted with juicy blueberries. The bill was total $ 20 for two people, including coffee. Worth the average price, since the food was extremely filling. Benny’s is yet another very standard American diner in Ann Arbor, but less crowded than the ones closer to campus so a good alternative if you don’t want to wait and are able to drive.

A straight-up diner with a fairly extensive menu. I’m a big fan of their mini breakfasts(one egg, one pancake, and a couple sausage links, for example). Prices are nice and affordable. Waitresses ‘hunned’ me(which I love). The food was fine. Pancakes were a little dense and out-of-the-box tasting. But the sausage was flavorful. Northside Grill is still my go-to breakfast jam but if I’m in the hood and need a quick breakfast fix, this’ll do.

People come here because this was Michael Phelp’s go-to, but they also come because it serves just plain good ‘olé food. You may be thinking, diner = greasy, but nope, not here. There’s a wait on the weekends so get here early and when you’re done, you pay at the counter. –Gyro Omelette: you can see how good it is just by the thickness of the eggs. The gyro is well salted, the tomatoes are fresh and the feta is tart and sour. You don’t need any tzatziki sauce here – it tastes great without it! –Hash Browns: now the hashbrowns are a little on the bland side, so I was very pleased to have tzatziki sauce. The dill in here really shins and adds so much flavor.
–Rye Toast: woah! This rye is amazing. Full of seeds and sour flavor I can’t get enough. FINALVERDICT: It’s a solid breakfast spot – nothing overly special, just good food. Blog Post:

Nice job on the breakfast here at Benny’s. Stopped in for the first time after dropping my car off at a nearby dealership for service. The places was really humming along about 9am, but the service was great. Typical breakfast menu. Ordered up a great Bacon & Cheese omelet. Tried their grits which were cooked just right & quite tasty. Doctored up with butter, crumbled bacon and pepper… they were delicious.
