Very solid breakfast joint, with some nice lunch options. And chicken and waffles!!! Good service, okay for family and bathrooms were pretty clean at the end of a busy Labor day.

Excellent spot for brunch. Fairly busy for a Sunday at noon, was quoted a 20 minute wait but was seated very efficiently after 10. Staff was extremely friendly and on the ball. Didn’t have to wait to order, coffee and water was filled regularly, and the owner talked with us as we paid our bill. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend the SoCal omelette — huge portions and generous with the fillings for an extremely reasonable price. If they keep this up, I’ll be coming back every Sunday. Seriously.

I would say that this is a typical diner, with typical diner quality food. It’s not amazing, but sometimes it’s just what you need. As they’re named after them, I had to try their pancakes. I got the carrot cake pancakes(they were one of the specials at the time). They tasted a bit dry and burnt, and not so much like carrot cake. I think I just made an ordering mistake, though. The rest of their food did seem to be quite a bit more solid. I should’ve just kept it a bit more simple. It looks like a typical large diner. The service was reasonably quick and the food was mostly what you’d expect. It definitely serves it’s purpose!

Having driven by this place many times, I was really excited to try it because I saw that it always packed during breakfast time and I had heard many good things about it. That being said, it was PACKED on the Saturday morning I went(not surprised really). The wait wasn’t too long, but I would bet unless you go on a weekday there will always be some standing time. Their menu is extensive in a good way because I like having my options for breakfast. I felt kind of obligated to order pancakes since that’s what the restaurant is called, so I ordered the fresh cinnamon apple pancakes and my friend opted for a more savory dish and ordered the corned beef hash. They were both great and super filling! I also ordered a cup of coffee to test what other Unilocalers had reviewed: that you never have an empty cup of joe. On my visit, they proved that to be true so I left a happy camper. Although my pancakes were yummy, I really liked the more savory dish, so I am looking forward to coming back and trying an omelet!

Nicks is solid standard diner fair. As a man who can’t have lots of sweets/sugar I may be missing the full picture but I’ve had four different things. — Dublin Benny: Eggs Benedict with corned beef. — Corned beef hash: Homemade and crispy, extremely little corned beef. Different than the pics from before my visits. — Two eggs, choice of meat, potato, etc: The sausage links are very good. Potatoes hit or miss on doneness and portion size. — Fat cat skillet: Steak was tender but had a ‘old grease’ taste to it. Rest was good! Cooking eggs to order seems to be an issue. I’ve had poached eggs twice, both times they were poached hard. First time was on the dublin benny, second time was with my corned beef hash so I asked for them poached soft in a cup. Over easy on the two other visits, egg whites are very much underdone and yolk is over medium. I think they use too hot of a skillet and very cold eggs so the yolk cooks before whites are even half set. Used to have this issue at home.

The whole wheat multigrain pancakes with the fruit explosion were delicious. Waitresses are very nice and very fast. So many different ways to build an omelette. Guess I’ll have to come back to try 6 more combinations and then perhaps branch out to the tempting varieties of stuffed French toast. But first. off to the gym to work it all off!

Waiting staff was extremely kind but manager/owner was extremely rude and unwilling to accommodate a simple request(I.e scrambling eggs instead of poaching them). Will not return, simply because of the managers lack of customer service.

Good place for pancakes ;). Nice staff. I got the chicken and waffles and the chicken is delicious but the waffle is dry and they don’t have real maple syrup. I grew up on real maple syrup so if you like Mrs. Butterworth you’ll probably like the waffle too. My mom got one of the skillets and she said it’s missing something. I feel there is a lesson to be learned here; when you go to a pancake house, get a pancake.

You may have had a peek of the NHOP off of Ann Arbor Saline Rd and I94, through the tall grasses, with hordes of people waiting outside on any given weekend morning. Take a left at the light in front of McD’s on Lohr Rd, across from Meijer, and you can’t miss it. Don’t worry, you can turn around if you don’t want to brave the crowd — it’s not a freeway entrance. Down that yellow-brick road, you will find a treasury of tasty waffles and pancakes like no other. NHOP is only open until 3pm. They have an extensive breakfast menu with some lunch items as well. The wait can be long but if you are patient, the turn over is fast and worth the time. We both had fruit topped Belgian Waffles with sides of well done bacon, shared two scrambled eggs and a coffee. The prices are a little more -$ 30 including tip for two — than a coney island breakfast, however the quality is there for the most part. The only thing to make my waffle better would have been real butter instead of GFS whipped spread. Good size dining room — they easily accommodated larger parties upon walk-in and service was fast and attentive.

I love this place. Going there is always such a treat as its a nice diner environment with a friendly staff and great food. Ironically, I have never had pancakes at this pancake house. This is largely due to the fact that I am such a huge fan of the omelets. They are so large and jammed pack with whatever fillings(is that the right word?) your heart desires. This is done for dirt cheap without any detriment to quality. The only thing that could improve this place, in my opinion, is if they had longer hours of operation. I believe the latest they are ever open is 3PM, so make sure to keep your eye on the time if you want to try the place out. Also, brunch time on the weekends can get super busy(especially if there is a game), but I’ve always found that the wait is reasonable and that my overall experience is not negatively impacted.

I just had one of the best omelettes ever. I visited Nick’s for the first time on 10/25/2015. Let me just say that the menu is large enough for even the pickiest eater to find something, but not so big it becomes overwhelming. I ordered the Athenian omelette(made with feta, spinach, onions, and tomatoes). I nixed the olives and added mushrooms. All omelettes are served with hash browns and choice of toast. One word: Delicious! #thatisall #carryon

I rarely rate anything with 5 stars, but Nick’s House of Pancakes gets my vote. The restaurant is always packed, which speaks for itself. I’m a frequent patron and have always had stellar service and excellent meals. Nick’s is the best breakfast place in town. I usually get the 3 + 3 omelet(3 types of meat and 3 types of cheese) with the extra thick cut raisin toast. They actually ran out of the raisin toast today so I tried the home made Apple bread and I will ask for it my next visit. The place has a nice atmosphere too. So all around a great place to eat.

Pretty good. Had an Eggs Benedict special with corned beef. My wife’s hippie something scramble was just OK. We were puzzled at the inability to get a pancake added to our order… the only option was to order a stack and basically double our order. Anyway, it’s close to home so we will probably go back but we aren’t busting the door down.

We wanted some breakfast and headed to Nicks for our first ever visit. The place was packed, a good sign. We checked in and added our names to the list. Told it would be 15 minutes till be were seated and another 35 until we could expect food. We accepted. Seated inside 20 minutes. The menu looked good. Our table got a custom omelette, eggs and sausage, and the Apple cinnamon stuffed French toast. We waited over 45 minutes for our food and watched others seated after us served before us. Very frustrating. I asked our server and after another 5 minutes we received our meal. Looked and smelled great. But the eggs were overcooked and the omelette cold. You can not justify serving cold food after a 50 minute wait! That being said, the French toast was hot and amazing! I would be willing to try again on a weekday perhaps, the French toast was worth it.

The best corned beef hash I’ve had in the Ann Arbor area. Their corned beef seemed to be legit and not out-of-a-can microwaved type of deal. I ordered a side of it and it was a nice portion. Only slight downside to it was that the sides were slightly burnt, but that’s okay. My main dish was the country fried steak. Eh, it’s no good and kind of small. Next time I would just go for the corned beef hash as my main and call it a day. One bonus about this place is that they do over-medium eggs perfectly! I think Nick’s has topped Angelo’s as my favorite breakfast place in town. Thanks, corned beef hash.

I give 3.5 stars for food, and 4 stars for service. It’s an insanely busy place, so don’t go here really really hungry for brunch. It’s just not happening. Not a lot of spaces to wait, but I recommend near a door, so you can squeeze in and look polite as you open it for others at the same time. I really like all their options! I got the chicken fried steak, and my boyfriend got stuffed french toast. I’m a huge fan of chicken fried steak and Nick’s was no exception. Perfectly fried, and nommy gravy. There was an insane amount of hashbrowns which were good but needed more crispiness/salt(I’m clearly a home fries fan) and the eggs were doing their runny egg thing, which is great. Also comes with toast/english muffin like any decent breakfast place. My boyfriend was semi-pleased with his stuffed french toast. The filling was good, but the portion is small. He said he should have gotten Moosie’s pancakes, which I totally agree with! The waitress forgot our bacon, so she gave us 2 side orders, no cost to us on either, which is very respectable. Water glasses remained full so no complaints here. Next time I’m coming during the week, and getting me some of those moosie pancakes.

The food was delicious! We ordered the peach cobbler French toast, the banana pecan pancakes, the egg and bacon sandwich, a side of hash browns, and turkey sausage. The French toast and pancakes were superb. The sandwich was put together well, though there is nothing about it that makes it stand out. The hash browns lacked seasoning, but they were cooked well(crispy on the outside and moist in the center). The sausage was a bit dry, but that’s what you get when you order turkey. The staff was friendly, and although the line was long, we were seated quickly. We could hear the servers arguing with the kitchen staff about mixing up he orders, and though the food piled in the window, our meal came out in good time.

Yummy fluffy pancakes! I woke up craving some pancakes and I’m so glad I found this place on Unilocal.Kind of hidden, but worth going around a couple of circles to find it. When we got in, we were seated right away and brought our menus. I got my coffee and decided which pancakes I was feeling, cinnamon apple, yum! They were perfect, light and fluffy, no need for butter or syrup. Although, I did try the syrup(warmed) and it was good! My sister ordered the Fat Cat skillet, good. We also ordered a side of corned beef hash, so good! I definitely recommend it. Not much to say about service, but they refilled my coffee often and they left me alone to enjoy my food. I’m sure their other menu items are good too, but the pancakes are great. I would love to come back before leaving MI and if not, I will be sure to come back next time!
