I have been here twice. The first visit in June was quite good — service, food and wine selection. My second visit last weekend(Saturday night 7:30pm) was a disappointment. The dinning room was closed so we were seated at a booth in the bar area. Had to wait over 5 minutes for the server to take a drink order. The menu options were half of what they were in June. There were only 4 beef options. When the server finally returned to take our order, we ordered a Delmonico Steak and the Brisket only to be told they were out of both. We instead ordered New York Strip Steaks. Red wine options were 2 — Merlot or Cab. Waiter couldn’t even tell me what brands they were. Steaks were ok, server tried, but overall a disappointment for the price.

Went to Brahma for the first time since the name change and I was sadly disappointed. Smokehouse Blues used to be one of my favorite places but after our experience on Friday I just don’t see myself returning again. The food was lackluster. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the brisket reuben. The fish was soggy and greasy and my wife’s brisket was a pretty small chunk of meat and what was there was more fatty than I felt it should be. On our salads we got ranch and bleu cheese, when they came to the table we were unable to tell which was which as they both tasted pretty much the same so we decided the lumpier one was probably the bleu cheese. On top of the lackluster food the service was not good at all. After we received our food it was a good 20 minutes until we saw our waiter again. Normally in this situation I would just wave down another server if I needed something but I didn’t see any of them either. This was at about 7pm on a Friday night and the place was is no way busy. Overall I’m sad to say that what was once one of my favorite places in the area is now a place I will most likely never be dining at again.

I wasn’t very impressed. I don’t mind paying a little extra for good food, but paying a little more for crap pisses me off. I miss Memphis Smokehouse…

This place is horrible. They should have stayed closed once they decided to close the other restaurant. Comparing this place to Outback is very disrespectful to Outback. I want my money back.

When I was asked where I wanted to go for dinner for Fathers Day this year, I knew I wanted a good steak so I thought maybe it was time to try Brahma Steakhouse. Our party of four arrived at 6:30PM and we were greeted by a hostess who sat us in a very nice booth in the main dining room. Our server Carli took or drink orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers, We declined to order appetizers and order our drinks. When our drinks arrived to the table we placed our order. My Son ordered the Mac and Cheese with lobster with the soup of the day to start, My daughter ordered the crab cake appetizer as her meal with a french onion soup stater, My wife ordered the london broil with the zip sauce and garlic mashers on the side and finally with a house salad to start, I order the Surf and Turf with a baked potato on the side along with a side salad to start. Carli came back shortly after the order was place to inform my son, that the lobster for the mac-n-cheese was not available, so he ordered the Mac-n-Cheese with the Pancetta bacon The Soups and salads arrived to the table in just a few minutes. The salads were nothing special, bib lettuce a few cucumbers and the run of the mill salad dressing. The soups however, were both very good. The French Onion Soup was full of onions and the cheese melted on was perfect. The soup of the day was Chicken Fiesta and was more like a chicken Chili, it was so hearty. The bread that they placed on the table, was excellent, was The Food arrived to the table and we were not disappointed. My filet was cooked Medium rare as I ordered. The steak was full of flavor! The baked potato was your standard fare and the lobster tail was delicious. The Mac and Cheese was amazing, the flavor from the bacon combined with the creaminess of the cheese, make for a delectable dish. I did like the crab cakes but they were not anything special. The london broil was a huge portion and cooked perfectly for a medium rare taste. The zip sauce flavor added so much to the flavor that it was just alive with flavors. The garlic mashed potatoes just added to the palate of flavor. All in all the portion sizes, combined with the variety of flavors made this a terrific Fathers day meal for me. I would consider the Brahma Steakhouse, a new«Go To» place for a good meal and good atmosphere.

I visited the other day. I was a former restaurant manager in the area. I was very impressed. I met the owner and he was super nice. The food was excellent(I had the Filet). I also watched to see that others in the restaurant like theirs too. Very nice place. Priced well. A better option than Outback. Granted its not the Chop House, but it’s half the price. Come Football season, I don’t think U’ll be able to get in. Very nice place.

The restauren used to be Smokehouse Blues, but now is Brahma. They changed the enviornment a bit, classed it up. Like the other revieweres, I agree that its overpriced no doubt, but each of us was very satisfied with our steaks(mom ny strip, dad prime rib, me lamb, grandma filet mg). The prime was a lil bland for my pallet but my dad loved it. The asparagus, my side dish, was awful, but the leek soup thoroughly satisfied my starchy needs. Their French fries are delicious too. If you’re getting a salad try the cherry vinaigrette, fantastic. My lamb chops were delightful and well spiced, charbroiled flavor satisfied any desires for the former smokehouse BBQ flavor. Great waitressing, and the duality of the 3 flat screen bar side and the classy fire dining side leaves nice options for either a sportsbar night out or an intimate dinner. But the food was slightly expensive and the specialty steaks even more so, but they were pretty tasty.

New owners, new menu, new name from the former Memphis Smokehouse Blues location. They still offer barbeque but it has more flavour and was very good. They also offer steak, pasta and seafood dishes. I stayed away from the seafood as the shrimp cocktail we had was overcooked and I didn’t want to chance it. We split the barbeque combo plate. Ribs and brisket with sides of salad and garlic mashed potatoes. There were also crusty sourdough rolls along with. Both of us enjoyed and agreeded that we will return. They do have a happy hour from 3PM-6PM. 50% off all alcohol, beer and wine. I like that alot. The young, inexperienced waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The only real complaint I have is with the schmaltzy overhead 40’s-50’s music. Not certain what vibe the management/owners are going for but, these tunes are just irritating and depressing

I must have just missed Janis! I was in the mood for steak and also to try something new. Brahma fit the bill. They had plenty of variety as far as cut, seasoning/method of preparation and sauce. We are quite fond of NY strips and frankly I wanted to get a smaller cut(it comes in both 12 and 16 oz) so that was the pick of the night. I would advise asking for your steak cooked one level down from your preference, My medium rare came out a tad bit over as did my husband’s medium. I hate to waste and it tasted nice enough so I stuck with it. The sweet waitress was more than willing to rectify the situation though, which I did appreciate. It was a juicy, well trimmed and tender piece of quality meat with some tasty wood grilled flavor so I was fine. We went without any tricky seasoning and while I tried some bearnaise on the side it was much better without. The gave us zip sauce on the side unasked for, which neither of us cared for the taste of. The bearnaise side I did ask for a bit of was oddly veg’ed up, thats right, not herbs but veg, weird. Just not a real bearnaise. No worries, my arteries don’t need it, the steak did not need it, neither did the perfectly cooked asparagus we each ate as our side pick. My husband was very frustrating as a dining partner because he does not give me much variety to comment on here, he is a copycat orderer lately. I think he finally figured out I order better than he does. We both opted for salads to go with our meal as well, of course. Dressing is the only item where we differed. Both tasted quite homemade and tasty. I went with balsamic and he chose raspberry vinaigrette. Both were a bit creamy but thin and retaining the acidic quality I need. Good non iceberg lettuce, tasty cucumber, halved grape tomatoes that actually had taste and a bit of red onion rounded out the experience. Happy. The bread they served was a nice sourdough, they could be less stingy with the butter for James’ taste but they will bring out more if you need it(or even if you really do not). Iced tea was fabulous and refills were brought before I ever hit bottom. On the ball waitstaff makes me so freaking happy and they seem to have that sewn up here despite seeming to be new at it. Just a tip: That bar was full the entire time we were here. Not a seat to be had. Cheap drinks(yay) but get here early if you are planning to partake or expect to stand awkwardly behind the lucky few for your half off. The bill for us? Just a hair over 40 bucks for two quality steak dinners with all the trimmings and non alcoholic beverages. Seriously, not at a chain even. I definitely want to go back. I’ll order rare without sauce.

I was on a business trip and was just driving by and took a chance on this place and was very pleased. Great salmon and friendly service. The prices are very fair for what you receive

Went to Brahma with my boyfriend last night and had a good time and great food! Our waitress was energetic and attentive. When my boyfriend ordered his steak medium-rare and it came out well done we let the waitress know, and the manager(very nice!) stopped by to apologize, sent over a free appetizer, AND the second, perfectly cooked steak came out in a larger oz filet. WONDERFUL service for a restaurant just opened and working out its kinks. We were a bit disappointed they didn’t have a drink menu available yet – the full bar is up and running, though, so hopefully this will be ready soon. We enjoyed a gin and tonic and a beer in the meantime. I had the homemade mushroom ravioli, and they were great… and while I know it’s a steakhouse primarily, I hope they do expand the vegetarian-friendly options a bit – veggie kabobs, a chickpea filet, or a great veggie/black bean burger maybe? If they did, this place could really compete with a few of the downtown Ann Arbor gems and help draw the dinner crowd towards Ypsi. The interior has been remodeled and redecorated – pictures are on their website – and it’s now very cozy, crisp, and inviting. We’ll be going back soon!

Great place to have a steak! You can find this restaurant on Washtenaw, it’s the old Smokehouse Blues. This new place has nothing to do with that place! This place just opened up this week(3−5−12), so we had to give it a try. New owner(we met him and what a nice guy), new fresh look inside. We LOVE steak so having a place so close to home… oooo yeeaah. First the wait staff were very nice(a lot of training was going on) and attentive. Perry and I both ordered the PORTERHOUSE… Omg 26 ounces of juicy goodness!!! It can to the table just the way we asked… med *~* and YES we had to take some home!!! The meal came with a salad or soup and your choice of potato: baked, fries, or garlic mashed. I got fries and they were good. Perry got baked potato with everything and it looked very good and fresh. Perry also got Clam Chowder again it was good! I picked the garden salad. It was good but it was very very small. That is the only thing I think they should do a little better(make a BIGGER salad). We didn’t ave drinks… this time. We wanted to just check out the STEAKS .and we did!!! LUVLUVLUV this place!!! WEWILLBEBACK! I HOPETHINGSONLYGETBETTER!!!
