The room is awesome, spacious, and well ventilated, not to mention it’s great to support a local business. Laura is a great teacher, very upbeat and friendly and caters to all levels of salsa dancing. They teach salsa«New York» style, on 2, and they start from the very, VERY basic which was nice. The music is great and fun to listen to as well. The only downside and therefore lack of the«5th» star, is that the class ended up being MASSIVE. It was very difficult to hear instruction which was frustrating, not to mention that whichever way we turned, we ran into people and during one song, I got stepped on pretty hard from behind. I’m excited and happy that it’s so popular, but perhaps putting a «cap» on class size wouldn’t be a bad idea, which would also help things start on time(didn’t start until well after 7pm). But I’d definitely dabble with the idea of going back!

I am shocked that this place has few reviews because Laura, the instructor, is amazing! If it’s your first time salsa dancing, I would recommend dropping in for the beginners class on Saturdays. Be aware that at this studio you’ll be learning salsa on 2(mambo, NY style). Be patient if you learned salsa originally on 1(as I did); with a few lessons under your belt you’ll get the basics down. If you’re a little more serious about your salsa, enroll in the monthly boot camps. You’ll learn a lot, there will be less people than on Saturdays, and you’ll have more time to work on the fundamentals. Laura is great at breaking down the steps and making the class fun. Plus, the prices are extremely reasonable. For some reason, this studio also attracts really great people! I’ve made so many friends at this studio, which has truly allowed me to build a community after moving to AA. Love this place!

I love Dance Rev so much. Everyone is super welcoming, Laura, the lead teacher, is completely wonderful. I didn’t know how to dance salsa *at all* before coming here. As a complete noob I felt immediately at home. I’ve been going on and off for two years. I love it as an inexpensive place to go on a saturday that is always a ton of fun. I would strongly recommend it. It’s a great place to learn.

Dance Revolution group classes teach the«on-2» style of salsa, which is less common in Michigan. For the regular style of salsa, take a private lesson with Laura or go elsewhere. The twice-monthly parties are casual, and very welcoming to people with 2 left feet.

I have my first experience at Dance Revolution last night. Jumped in on a Salsa level 2 class and what a great space/group of people/and instructor. They hold all kinds of parties around town as well. It was a very affordable $ 8($ 7 with student ID) for not only one but up to 3 classes that evening(Salsa 2, Salsa 3, and Bachata) I’ve been looking for new ways to get exercise that aren’t about the typical gym work out… and this one is a great fit.
