Came here for restaurant week! Nice décor, staff was super friendly — overall atmosphere 8.5÷10(it was a little dark inside). My friend and I got the following: Baba Ganoush 8⁄10: seemed more like hummus than baba ganoush, but it was flavorful and kept as satiated as we waited for our food. Tuscan Kale Salad 9⁄10: this was surprisingly really delicious, though fairly small portion-wise to split between two people. Herb Encrusted Salmon 8⁄10: top was delicious — crispy and encrusted with herbs(big surprise!), but the flavor didn’t sink in all the way through the meat, leaving 85% of the salmon somewhat bland. Also a small portion size to split between two people. Chocolate Pot de Crème(they ran out of the usual restaurant week dessert) 10⁄10: holy crap — definitely definitely the highlight of the meal. This was A++ — the mousse(?) was incredibly rich, with sprinkles of salt on top and fruit on the bottom. My friend and I loved this. Overall a pretty good experience — portion sizes for the two main courses were pretty small, but we enjoyed ourselves and the dessert was to die for.

My wife and I had been wanting to try Mezzevino for a while and finally got a chance last night. The service was ok. The food was bad, really bad. The best part of the meal was the bottle of wine we got. The crostini trio was not good. The eggplant with egg tasted like the eggplant purée was old, not fresh and all three needed salt. The crostinis were not crisp or crunchy, they were rubbery, which made it very difficult to share. The beef tips were a joke… a skillet of gray meet in a greasy garlic sauce that again was not properly seasoned. The falafel salad looked nothing like the picture on the menu and somebody used a heavy hand with the coriander… it was borderline inedible… we didn’t finish the plate and told the waiter we did’t like it and he did nothing to address it. The only item we got that was halfway decent was the tuna… again, it was not properly seasoned. We will not return.

The first time I ate here was for Restaurant Week, and I came back a month later because the food was just too good and I wanted to try more! This concept is very interesting, it’s like Mediterranean tapas. I used to really not like tapas, but the appeal of trying multiple little bites has definitely grown on me. During Restaurant Week, the menu is more limited, but their hummus is amazing! They top it off with fried chickpeas which I thought was unique because I had never had that before. We also tried the squid ink pasta, which doesn’t taste that different but it’s cool to say that I’ve now had squid ink pasta. The second time we came back, we tried the lamb kabobs, mussels, and flatbread(my favorite). The different little bites left me very full, and I was planning on coming back sometime during happy hour because of the good things I’ve read about it!

I was impressed by this restaurant, and it’s definitely one to come back to. My girlfriend and I were looking for an upscale restaurant for a nice night out, and this suited us perfectly. We had the hummus, several of their cheeses, and the lamb pizza. We were expecting to try more dishes, but these filled us up well. The hummus was quite exceptional, and enough of a portion that the two of us snacked on it throughout the meal. The other dishes did not disappoint at all, and we finished off with the delicious chocolate pot de créme. Last time we were in town, we had gone to Aventura. The food was pretty good, but it was overcrowded and we never felt particularly satisfied, even after a fairly high bill. In contrast, this place felt very comfortable, and the food was delicious and filling, made better by the fact that it ran us just over half of what we spent at Aventura(not including the glass of wine). The service was excellent as well, with Sergio providing great assistance to us as newcomers to the small plate experience. The atmosphere felt pleasing and appropriate. The digital menu with pictures was appealing to us, who wouldn’t recognize the dishes by name. The only small downside was that it was a little difficult to hear across the table due to the wide open room. It was certainly not enough of a disadvantage to detract from this experience. Highly recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the dishes were! We had a party larger than 5, so were able to do the 4-course meal, which was plenty of food. My favorite probably was the hummus, there is a slight kick to it and just enough grittiness to give it a nice texture where it definitely felt homemade. Also loved the calamari, batter was crispy, but not too thick or greasy. We selected the bolognese and braised beef, which worked well with each other although some of the smaller beef pieces were a little chewier than others. What I found most strange about the 4-course meal was the balance of it. The first course had a total of three dishes but the salad(second course) was just one small plate of Greek salad. Then the third course had more pasta than meat. Just wish there maybe could have been less calamari, more salad and more balanced portions of pasta and meat.

Delicious Mediterranean tapas and great drinks. Huge space, but intimate dining. Delicious drink menu. Unique that their menus are iPads(always make me chuckle). Vegetarian items to try: * Crostini with roasted eggplant(anything with an egg is a winner in my opinion) * Papas Bravas * Panisse * Whipped feta Parking is available in the garage off Williams St just a few steps from the restaurant.

Deelicious. Came here after a show at the State. Since everything on the menu looked good, we ordered a few items and were too full to try anything else. We started with herb pita and kalamata olive butter which was delivered to us. Fluffy and yummy. Next, we moved on to Bomba meatballs, which were tasty but didn’t have the kick I thought they would. Then, Feta and Red Pepper, which was sort of a pile of cheese and peppers. Would have been good to have something to scoop it with like a light cracker or something. Next up was the Couscous Marrakesh, deliciously made with a fruit hint and something I couldn’t identify. Last, we went with the Lebanese Lamb flatbread, which had a delicious garlic sauce and herbs on it. It was a huge portion. My companion ordered up bread pudding and though I was super full, I took a bite and it was divine. Light and airy with a hint of caramel. I felt my hips getting larger with just 2 bites, so I just sipped my deliciously strong coffee and enjoyed my time. I’ll definitely be back to try more on the menu.

My date made reservations and took me here for Valentine’s Day. Let’s just say we were very pleased with our selections. From the lemon chile hummus and meatballs to the grilled swordfish and lamb chops with feta salad… mmmmmm…love at first bite! Each dish is served on a small plate, which some reviewers disliked. However; we found them to be a great opportunity to taste several dishes and perfect for sharing. We have decided that this spot will be placed into our dinner date night rotation. If you enjoy Mediterranean fare and get the opportunity, give this venue a try… you won’t be disappointed.

Came here with some friends during restaurant week. Greeted by a friendly and competent waiter named Sergio, who was deft at handling the curve balls we threw at him and helped make the evening a lot of fun. Sergio made good suggestions for drinks, and I just started drinking red wine. We ordered appetizers and the calamari was very good. Have to say the hummus was really really scrumptious. Worth going here just for that, so you know it had to be great hummus! Main course was Salmon, fresh and very nicely prepared. Some other friends showed up mid-meal and Sergio accommodated them graciously. They helped me with the wine drinking. We had been finished a while when I decided to order desserts for the table – also handled gracefully and the mousse was great. All in all, a terrifically fun evening, and that’s what dining out is all about. I hope you have as much fun as we did when you go!

I went to mezzivino for restaurant week everything was excellent. I really enjoyed their 4 course menu. The hummus was delicious and I like the roasted chickpea topping and freshly baked mini pitas with this appetizer as well! The pasta was delicious, the Greek salad and desert were good too! Additionally I really like the décor and atmosphere. Happy eatings! –S

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner a few weeks back for an early evening around 5p.m. We loved being there for dinner so early because our service was super fast and it wasn’t very busy. We started off with the lamb kabobs: lamb leg, saffron, lemon, muhammara and the meatballs: pork and veal, muhammara, fried oregano, orange and olive. Both of these were delicious! My boyfriend has some form of pasta which he loved and I had the chopped salad with chicken gyro. It had mixed greens, sweet and sour onions, carrots, lentil-bean salad and feta. It was pretty good, but not my favorite. I would recommend a different entrée than the chopped salad, but definitely go with the appetizers. I would definitely come back and get more of the small plates and perhaps a different entrée. But this is a nice, trendy restaurant that would be great for a date night or girl’s night out. Also, the iPad menus were a nice touch!

I’ve been here three times and although my experience each time with the food has gotten worse and worse I still am a fan. Each time I have eaten here, the food gets saltier and saltier. it’s a problem that they don’t seem that interested in fixing as I have brought it up when dishes I eat as inedible due to how much salt is in there. The one thing that has be hooked is the sangria, especially during happy hour. The sangria is amazing and even better when it’s half off during happy hour. Maybe the salty food is supposed to drive you to drink more. Come here for drinks and a bite before getting a night started. It’s a great space for groups and couples.

I just went to mezzevino the other night on a double date and had a fantastic time. We started with cocktails, and they have a pretty fun cocktail menu on top of being able to order any normal drink from the bar that you would want. The evolving eos with the frozen ball is so yummy! For food we got a charcuterie plate with prosciutto and chèvre. Soooo good. For the rest of our dishes we got the hummus, lamb kebabs, tuna, and calamari. Everything was fantastic. The tuna was especially yummy and we actually ordered a second plate before we left. The service was also excellent. None of us had been previously and the waiter was very patient with us. A few of our iPad menus died but that was really the only hiccup. My only other complaint was that it was quite loud in the restaurant and slightly hard to talk and hear the people I was with. Otherwise service was wonderful. We were there for three hours and never felt rushed. We’ll definitely be back!

Not sure where to start. This is just another small plate type restaurant that is there to make as much as they can. The hummus was super salty. The falafel was mostly just spinach, I thought it was a salad. This place is priced really high for the area with sub par quality. Portions are okay, prices are way too high for Ann Arbor when most of the people in the area are students. Price range is comparable to the areas in DC where people are making 100k and spending that type of money. I’ll be surprised if this place last more then two years. On quality, it would be decent if Dearborn wasn’t so close and the average Mediterranean is much much better and cheap. For down the street and get something at pita kabob for half the price and larger portion that taste 10 times better. Do not recommend.

I love mezzevino– for a special occasion, happy hour of for dinner with a friend. They have ½ off sangria pitchers during happy hour at the bar. Their crostini trio and their mix and match cheese/meat boards are great appetizers and their lamb is the best in town. I have never had a problem getting in on a busy night without a reservation.

This would be a hellavu place to open a restaurant. This review recounts a very weak 2-star dinner(Meh!) experience. Good space. Fresh ingredients. Mostly good recipes. Kitchen staff seems to grasp the fundamentals of cooking and plating. They grasp the concept of «reservation.» The waiter was prompt, attentive, disorganized and ultimately failed us multiple times. Or; perhaps he was the victim of a kitchen expediter that was working against him. Water and menus arrived promptly. Menus are both paper and tablet. One tablet died after only a few minutes use. While the food porn is wonderful, a single tablet/application does not allow four to effortlessly peruse/discuss a menu. Our waiter acknowledged the dead tablet battery, explaining that’s why the paper menus … and that customers prefer paper menus. Unbeknownst to the couple extending the dining invitation, this is a small plates operation. Our waiter assured us that they could do a traditional dinner service. He was mistaken. My wife and I both ordered Rustic salads with entrees. My salad(excellent) and her entrée were served simultaneously. ~90 seconds later, my lamb chop entrée(excellent) arrived. Whoa. ~15 minutes later, my wife’s salad arrived. One of our dining companions ordered the gyro platter. It arrived ~45 minutes after her salad was served — after multiple queries to the staff and multiple broken promises of «right away,» «next» and«very soon.» All the other plates had been bussed. The wine finished. Our companion still had not been served her entrée. Room for dessert? Really? You do realize that she’s still waiting on her entrée??? When the gyro platter(chicken) arrived, it in no way resembled gyros. «Not what I ordered,» flumoxed the waiter who could not name the dish he had just served. Imagine a mound of shredded chicken & rice served alongside small pitas that had been cut into eighths. Gyro? Platter? Really? Our companion refused the dish on the basis of not being gyros and being served so damn late. In an attempt to mitigate the matter, the senior hostess(manager?) arrived with profuse apologies and a $ 25 gift card for our frustrated, unfed dining companion. Nice, but it was also delivered with an incorrect check — which included yet another entrée that we had not ordered and had never been served. In the past year, we have dined at Mainstreet Ventures’ operations twice. They have failed, substantively, both times, in fundamentals.

Coming here for restaurant week was the greatest thing ever! My friend’s a vegetarian, while I’m pretty much a carnivore, so I wasn’t expecting to love it. But they accommodated perfectly! The hummus was delicious — I feel like the pita stayed warm forever. Tofu panisse was very flavorful. Gazpacho and pappardelle di maiale were not bad. Tartakia and loukoumades were AMAZING desserts. Add on a white sangria, and you have a perfect, vegetarian-friendly meal. I can’t wait to come back and try their meat dishes. Service was on point, and their menu was very helpful — you can check out pictures and eat with your eyes before ordering! The restaurant itself also felt very cozy inside.

The old Pretzel Bell building in its latest incarnation is a Mediterranean restaurant called Mezzevino. If you don’t know how to navigate the tablet menu, they’ll give you a quick demo. Not as annoyingly useless as some of the tablet menus I’ve seen. I had the soup called Spicy Antalya. I don’t know if it’s a traditional dish, but the flavor seemed very familiar. I wonder if it was made with Gauijillo chiles. There were also beans and sausage bits in this soup. Very hearty. I had asked for a cup but a large bowl arrived. So I didn’t have much room left for the Greek Chicken, which was flame broiled and given a quick chop with a cleaver. Watch out for the bones. If you know chicken anatomy well, you can navigate through the pieces like a champ. Otherwise, chomp carefully until you know what your piece contains. I liked the arugula with a lemony vinaigrette that was laid on top. The baby potatoes were crispy. My water glass kept getting refilled with ice water, even though I had asked not to have ice. I just waited for it to melt and warm up a little. They are so eager to refill your glass there. If you don’t want your esophagus to freeze, get a drink that doesn’t have ice and guard it jealously. Lots of gluten free choices, helpfully marked on the menu.

I wasn’t going to admit it, I really wasn’t, BUT I am a food snob. I used to be ashamed, but I have learned to just accept me and this is who I am. That being said, I am shocked when I read that this restaurant only has a 3 star rating on Unilocal because I had an amazing experience there with a party of 6, myself included. We had no idea what to do when we got there. There were iPads on the table, and slowly but surely we all realized that the delicious looking pictures we would randomly stumble upon while messing with these iPads could be food in our tummies. Now, at first we thought let’s all just go our own ways and share if someone likes the look of our food. Of course, it took no time at all for the other half of the table to decide on the prix fixe menu available as a 4&6 course meal for 21.95 and 27.95 respectively. We went with the latter and the meal just got better and better with each course. We started with some white wine with limoncello(this pretty much won us over from the start), but we kept going. Then some herbed pita and hummus, then some veggies, then a meat and cheese platter. A huge bowl of spaghetti puttanesca appeared and just when we thought not bad, not bad. The swordfish thalassa appeared and it was tender, tasty and perfectly textured. At this point we barely had any room left, but then Lahme bi hummus(beef tips that just fell apart in your mouth surrounded by a sea of hummus) made its way into our tummies and touched our hearts. There was even dessert involved. Somehow our waitress managed to have the food brought out in such a timely manner that we never looked away from our meals. The next course was always ready as soon as we finished the one prior and it really did just get better and better with each round. This is definitely a place to go with a sizeable group of 4 – 6 so you can try as much on the menu as possible, it’ll be well worth your dinero. If you do go this route of course, it never hurts to make a reservation either. I’m looking forward to going back soon, like very soon. My birthday is coming up and I. am. shameless.
