I travel to Ann Arbor quite often(shameless plug for Duo Security!). This hotel is not only convenient as it’s right across the street from our office, but it’s clean and the staff is extra friendly. It’s relatively new and it is complete with all of the bells and whistles. My favorites — free breakfast, occasional free dinners with drinks, TV with built-in Netflix(perfect for binge watching The Walking Dead), full kitchens, ample rooms, etc. I could go on and on, but the point is that they have it all. There is another Residence Inn in Ann Arbor — DON’T GOTOTHATONE, pick this one.

Count me incredibly lucky to have experienced Residence Inn my first time in Michigan! This hotel is new(just a few months old), and in a prime location near Frita Batido’s, Ashley’s, and the Ann Arbor campus. It’s definitely more business-oriented rather than cozy-vintage; everything is very monochromatically brown and modern-looking. There’s a sweet lobby downstairs with a fireplace and giant TV, along with 2 people at the front desk and an additional person on-duty towards the front for taxi service, or if you get stuck out of the hotel without your room key. The front desk clerks were friendly and helpful; our check-in and check-out processes were efficient and quick. The room I stayed in was magnificent! A roomy, fully stocked kitchen area complete with giant fridge, stove, sink, as well as a large number of dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and more. There’s also a comfy living space with a small desk for your laptop, and a TV. The bed itself was clean and luxurious, and the bathroom was beautiful and modern, but no door on the very large shower. This made for an elegant look, but also a little bit of spray(just put a towel down and you’ll be fine). There’s a gym and a pool downstairs, along with free breakfast in the mornings(ends at 9:30am — I admittedly never got up before then but my friend said that it was varied and delicious! Don’t worry, it’s not just juice and pastries). There’s also a mini snack store with snacks, toiletries, drinks, etc. by the front desk if you get hungry. Thermostat is very responsive and easy to program. Oh, and FREEWIFI! After a certain time at night, the outer door locks and you can only get into the hotel using your room key… Great for security! If you forgot your room key, no worries — there’s a kind person manning the door 24⁄7 who will help you.
