Great place for dinner. The service was pretty quick. I ordered the chicken bibimbop. It came with miso soup on the side. Everything tasted very good but wish the bowl had a bit more chicken. However, the veggies tasted very good and the rice was cooked perfectly.

Love this place. They have both bbq tables and regular sitting. The outdoor looks relaxing but I haven’t sat there yet. Food and drinks are perfect.

This is the review I wrote when I went for the first time(7÷18÷2015): «Tomukun KBBQ had a lot of people so my two friends and I had to wait for 30ish minutes before there was room for us. But I’ll have you know that it was worth the wait. The prices were really agreeable(compared to the KBBQ back in Troy), so we decided to get a combination($ 40, so $ 13.33 per) of marinated short ribs, marinated ribeye, and spicy pork. The little appetizers there were alright, with the exception of fish cakes because fish cakes is always amazing. Anyway, it was a DIYBBQ where we cooked everything ourselves, so I can see why the prices here are a lot cheaper. Everyone’s favorite was definitely the ribeye, so we saved that for last. Spicy pork, which was the one we tried first, was already really amazing. There was just so much flavor, and I’ve never felt so passionate about food in my life. I know a lot of people think I’m a complete foodie, but to be honest, nothing around Troy really taste all that great. For the first time, I died and went to heaven. Even the spicy pork was my least favorite out of all, it was much better than anything I’ve actually had. So imagine the look on our faces when we tried the ribeye … My goodness. It was tender, and fortunately, we managed to cook it exactly right. The slightly burnt meat was full of flavor and the right combination of seasoning. The meat had the perfect amount of juice, and I could literally feel a food baby appear in my abdominal area as I eagerly chewed on more pieces of the ribeye. Okay, this review is getting really weird, but amazing and reasonably priced KBBQ is just the BOMBDOTCOM. The only issue I had with the marinated short ribs(which was also super tasty) is that a lot of the „weight“ of the meat was the bone. Thus, we weren’t able to eat very much of it except two small pieces of the short rib meat. The amazing part was that it wasn’t overly expensive. It was $ 16(including tax and tip) of pure goodness(and fat overload), and I was completely stuffed by the end.» After this instance, I’ve gone back to Tomukun KBBQ four more times. Every time was a good experience for me! I definitely think it can be on the pricier side(a friend and I finished an entire $ 45 combination side), but it’s nice to treat yourself once in a while. The décor is very classy, and the wait staff are really warm and friendly.

We came on a evening and other places next door are all look to crowded. We were not in the mood for barbecue, so we decided to try the hotpot. I would probably get a better impression of this place if we tried the bbq. The hotpot is just to ordinary, and it’s something you can easily make at home by yourself. You just need the Korean red chili sauce and put reman noodle and cheese in. The flavor is not impressive. The complimentary small dishes are pretty good. Better than the hotpot.

I’m in town for a 3-day-training and had a solo dinner on Father’s Day 2016. I waltzed in without reservation and was seated immediately and outside on the patio. It was a gorgeous day and I absolutely loved being outside. If you were driving down Liberty street, you might have seen me dining solo with 9 platters of goodies. For $ 20, I had a feast of: spicy pork BBQ, a huge salad, 5 side dishes, and a bowl of rice! My server was fantastic– she left me the pitcher of water(intentionally? unintentionally? who cares, it was awesome) so I was able guzzle it with each bite of spicy meaty-ness! I rarely see any posts of people eating solo at KBBQ joints, so I want to make it clear that it’s totally doable! It’s also kind of fun NOT to have to share!

5 stars for food. I’ve only ever come to the BBQ for the meats, but I’m assuming if the entrees are anything like the noodle bar, then you can’t go wrong. The sides(Banchan) have changed from time to time, but they’ve always been good. The salad is excellent. The meats are always wonderful, and you really can’t go wrong with cooking them. 5 stars for the experience. I’ve been here a couple of times and the cooking your own food bit doesn’t get old. It’s a good place to take a date for that reason. 4 stars for everything else. I don’t like the ambiance, it’s cold and metallic. The menu is expensive, especially considering you’re cooking your own food. And I really don’t like that you can’t substitute any of the combos for anything else, considering each combo includes pork. Recommended for groups of 4+. The place has about the same wait times as the noodle bar, especially during dinner rush, expect to wait for about 30 minutes. Overall I like the place and I’ll keep coming back. In the future I plan on trying some of their entrees.

A Koren friend highly recommended this restaurant, and we are glad he did! Our party of two had the Kimchi Pancakes and the Dosot Bibimbap(a bowl of rice topped with meat, veggies, with egg) and Asian Pear Sangria for my friend There were several side dishes to share.. . fun to explore, and very good flavor! Great place…

Best Korean I’ve had in Detroit so far. The okinomiyaki is damn good. Very nice atmosphere. And located in a great location. We had bulgogi and the meat is tender and delicious. I just wish they gave us garlic. They need a little hot sauce to go with it too!

It was my first time at this restaurant. I liked the atmosphere and the food was tasty. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken. It also came with a soup. I like that the bowl for the chicken rice kept it hot but if you do not constantly stir the rice does get a bit hard at the bottom. One thing I do not like is that water pitcher just sits on the table for every table. It is probably changed but when I looked at the ice they were slightly melted because it was a warm day. I poured some water but then looked at it and decided maybe not.

Tomukun has really done an amazing job at creating an enjoyable KBBQ experience with their well-trained staff. Though the whole ambience of the restaurant may seem more Americanized, the food is pretty authentic. If I’m planning to get KBBQ, I’d plan to come with at least a group of 4 so that the cost of the combo meats can be split between more people. The combo 1 is for 2 – 3 people but has a generous amount that is definitely more than enough for 2 people. The combo 2 can easily fill 4 – 5 people up. The staff is very attentive and patient and generally knowledgable about all dishes. For meats I have tried all in the Combo 2 and all are marinated well. If you want a little more flavor in your meat, they provide you with three different sauces for any of your food: sesame oil with salt, soybean paste, and housemade sriracha. All sauces are equally good in my opinion, depending on what you’re in the mood for. KBBQ is generally on the pricier side and while Tomukun is a bit pricey, I think that the amount of food you get is worth it. There is also tons of banchan that comes with your meal and they can all be replenished upon request. I’ve tried the chicken wings, kimbap, steamed egg, ddukbokki, tangsuyuk, and some of their korean stews and dishes. All are very standard and decent-sized portions that can be shared amongst groups along with the KBBQ meat. They also have a very good lunch deal which I have not tried but they have 2 dish combos for $ 15. They have a bar area where you can order drinks while you wait for your table because during peak hours, it does get very busy. It’s a bummer that they’re not open on Mondays but all in all, this place does not disappoint.

Always rushed out when I am dining here. Last time i was there, their meats were under marinated. I was very disappointed and to top that, we were rushed out of the restaurant. I dine here time to time with few of friends but I think i will go back to Seoul Garden or Macheko in Ypsi.

The BBQ was amazing! We went there at 6:30 on a Saturday night and the wait time was 1.5hr. We didn’t have any plans so we decided to garb a drink at the bar while we wait. We order kimchi pancake and it was very tasty. I had a Asian Pear Sangria and it was very fruity and perfect for girls. We have a total of 4 so we decided to choose Combo 2. The quality of the food was great and presentation of food are very eye catching. it’s always fun grilling yourself and that’s my favorite part about BBQ. The Combo we ordered came with ready to eat salad, and vegetables for grilling(mushroom, onion, asparagus.) They also gives you some side dishes(5 or 6 dishes). The food was so good and I would definitely come back again! *Tip: They do not take reservation so if you wanted to do BBQ, come here early and put your name down.

I really love how full you can get at this place. This was my second kbbq experience and I just feel that the quality here was higher and better. It is pretty pricey, but I sorta feel like that just makes it more special. Majority of the servers are awesome and amazing! Really cool restaurant and atmosphere. Can’t really go wrong with any of the dishes… Just definitely come here and try anything!!!

I love the marinated short ribs, it’s the only thing I get when I go here. It’s flavorful and its always cooked perfectly. The décor of the place is great as well. The only thing is that it can get quite noisy when it’s busy, but I don’t mind I’m usually stuffing my face anyway.

Downright awesome! We came on a Saturday night and unfortunately they don’t take reservations on Saturdays. Luckily, we arrived around 6pm, right before a big rush of people. We knew we’d likely have to wait but the hostess was spot-on with how long, about 30 minutes, and we were seated right around then. Because we gandered over the menu and also enjoyed the delicious aromas while we waited, we quickly ordered one of the platters that included the chicken, beef, and pork. The waiter was friendly and prompt, giving us great drink recommendations and explaining what the different types of liquors were. The(raw) food came out quick and our waiter got our grill going. The pork was great — marinated in a spicy sauce and it cooked perfectly despite us leaving it on the grill a little long. My personal favorite was the beef — it was SO incredibly tender and juicy and paired well with every dipping sauce they gave us(spicy bean paste, salted sesame oil, and a chili sauce). We also had the chicken and while it was marinated in a teriyaki-type sauce, it couldn’t compete with the beef. Did I mention it was a TON of food? At least 12oz of each meat and it came alongside delicious sides and rice. YUM. Overall a great experience and a perfect place for a date or dinner with friends and family! I would definitely come back.

Finally a Korean BBQ restaurant in downtown! I’ve dined here for lunch and dinner. Both good experiences. Lunch: I tried the soft tofu soup with pork and spicy nengmyun combination. Both dishes were excellent! Soft tofu soup had excellent broth and tofu was so silky and incredible. I was slightly disappointed by the spicy nengmyun as it was more sweet than spicy. Regardless, I very much enjoyed the chewy noodles, thin sliced cuts of brisket and a hard boiled egg. I will likely try the cold nengmyun next time. Dinner: As an appetizer, we ordered the spicy rice cakes. Great sauce, chewy rice cakes with excellent flavor! We got marinated kalbi and pork belly to bbq. I agree with other reviews that the marinated kalbi is more sweet than I would like, but we enjoyed both cuts of meat. Banchan selection is small but all are made well. Kimchi was authentic and fresh, which is so difficult to come by in Ann Arbor’s Korean restaurants! Excellent selection of Korean liquors, attentive but slightly slow service.

First time to Ann Arbor and I was elated to see a Korean restaurant. I come from Washington, D.C., Annandale is a hop, skip and a jump away from me… its referred to as «Koreantown.» I was excited to have a little piece of home here in Michigan and I wasn’t disappointed at all. We got a combo 1, 3 different meats, and it was delicious. Looking around I only saw mostly Asian people in here, I felt like I was home. The food was good, the atmosphere great, and well worth the drive! I’ll be back!

This place pleasantly surprised me! I love Korean food and this place delivers. There was a 30 minute wait for a seat for 4 on Saturday night, but it wasn’t too bad. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the seating was roomy. Plenty of room for all the plates and dishes of food you’re going to get! Our group of 4 ended up getting a few things: — Seafood pancake: this was really good! good amount of seafood, crispy, and not an overwhelming about of batter compared to other seafood pancakes I’ve had. — Spicy squid and pork belly stirfry: my favorite thing we got! Be warned though, this is pretty spicy. But if you can handle the heat, this is one tasty dish. — Marinated short rib bbq: this was good, but I just never understood what costs $ 25 for this? WAY too little meat for the price. Really overpriced. — Panchan: good variety. They have 5 – 6 different kinds for you. The house salad was really good too. If you’re looking to satisfy a craving for Korean food, this will hit the spot. Friendly service and good food. Korean bbq is always a bit overpriced in my opinion, but it sure is satisfying. p. s. The Tomukun noodle shop next door is a completely different restaurant, so don’t make the mistake of making a reservation in there like I did!

What’s better than a Korean Barbecue feast? It’s not Palisades Park, NJ but this is a really good representation of this food. We dined on the BBQ side, not the noodle side. We went in the wrong door not knowing. I thought I was in a twilight zone episode when the waiter handed me the noodle menu. We ordered chicken and pork BBQ. Both were nicely marinated, not overly spicy but had great flavor. The banchan was really good and I especially liked the green salad they served along side. The service is excellent and the prices as you would expect. They do serve more meat in an order than I have ever seen at this kind of restaurant. The 2 of us walked out absolutely stuffed. Can’t wait to return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here! While I haven’t had much Korean BBQ here in MI, this one is probably the best one so far. Good quality meats, good portions and flavors. I have to agree in that the bulgogi that we got could have used a bit more acidity, balancing out the sweetness of the meat. However, it wasn’t overpowering. Everything was pretty good, with the exception of the banchan and mandoo(dumplings). Husband and I were thoroughly disappointed in not only the quality, but the flavors as well. I would say that out of them all, the pickled daikon was the best one. Plus I think it sucks that you have to pay an extra $ 2 for additional ones. They aren’t even remotely the same size as ones you get at other Korean restaurants. We ordered their fried mandoo and we thought it was just OK. The filling was puny and the exterior wrapper was too thick. Probably wouldn’t order that again. Jajangmyeon was wonderful and had a great balance and flavor to the noodles. I am not sure if the noodles were handmade but the varying thicknesses and chewy texture were splendid! Plenty of diced pork and caramelized onions mixed well with the black bean sauce. Great portion for the price, and we had plenty leftover for another meal. Galbi tang had a nice soup base, but just not enough rib meat. I absolutely LOVELOVE enoki mushrooms, and was delighted to see it sitting atop the soup. I also like scallions but there was just waaayyyy too much of it. Nonetheless, the soup was tasty, and I would definitely order it again. Overall, we had a wonderful meal. Service was okay, but it was only because our waiter was not very attentive. Some other waiters and waitresses were much better, so it’s not a reflection on the business. I would gladly return, and plan on coming next time with a bigger group. The space definitely lends itself to that, and should be a good time!
