Oh darn, I just heard they were going out of business. Oh my, what a shame. Oh well. They fucking sucked a fat Samoan mushroom powerup anyway. On the surface… yeah it was fine. I really liked the fries especially, but you know what? This shit was just Big Boy with a larger marketing budget. No really, Big Boy/Elias Brothers really did open @Burger and serve the same mutherfucking shit and charged more because it was supposed to be urban and trendy. I’m glad they failed and are closing, I hate that conniving ad firm bullshit. I read that this one in A2 was actually the first leg of an experiment that if proved successful would have been pushed down the throats of our whole goddamn nation. Well, I’m glad that shit turned out to be a just a wet fart. Next time I want a Brawny lad, I’ll just go to Big Boy. They don’t have beer, of course, but I can manage. I was amazed at how few people were ever there, and yet how many @Burger t-shirts were on the wall for sale. Fuck that.

Not very good. Five Guys is about two blocks away. Go there instead.

Simply put, @burger is just okay. The food is fine, but not spectacular; prices are a little too high, but not outrageous; staff is friendly, but not particularly memorable. This is not the kind of place I would recommend to a friend,…but if someone invited me to dinner there, I wouldn’t turn down the offer.

So I came here after passing a sign they had outside saying ‘$ 5 burgers’. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have even gone in because the name alone is pretty sad. I don’t get some of the burgers they have on their menu; I think I remember seeing a velveeta burger. I don’t know, velveeta just freaks me out because it’s a cheese product… not cheese. Maybe they’re trying to be a fusion restaurant, mixing burgers and ‘classic college food’ — I don’t know. Anyway, I just got the regular @ burger and it was fine, nothing special, but if I had to pay more that $ 5 I would have just given them just 1 star.

The food is ok– the onion straws were delicious, if greasy and heartburn inducing. But the milkshake I had might’ve been the worst I’ve ever experienced. It tasted like melted ice cream mixed with FROSTING. Not delicious frosting, either. Grocery store cake frosting. It was undrinkable. Huge, though, so I guess it’s a good deal if you can choke it down. Also, WTF–«@burger»? Do they even understand how twitter works? Why are they trying to direct a message to this«burger» individual? And where is that message? Quit trying to be trendy, you’re owned by Big Boy. Which is weird because Big Boy has far better shakes.

I had a craving for burgers and decided to try @burger even after reading the mediocre reviews. The Southwest Jack burger had good flavor but didn’t really have any kick to it. It was very slightly overdone, but still juicy and enjoyable. The chips were«meh», they didn’t have much flavor, but did give a satisfying crunch. Next time I’ll try sprinkling on one of their many seasonings from the condiment table. I agree with the other reviewers that $ 7-$ 8 just for their burger and chips is a bit steep. I went during their daily 2−6PM special, where a burger+chips is just $ 5. For that price, I think @burger is a decent value and would recommend it to anyone looking to satisfy a late-lunch burger craving.

I ate here for lunch. I wanted to like it, seemed like it could be a burger joint experience. They did have a number of elements that tried to push them into the«hip» zone, but they just couldn’t get there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The burger I ordered was not bad, presentation was good. Although I like the @ idea, they at-ed the heck out of me. The overall feeling I got is they were trying a bit too hard to do all the right things, but didn’t stand in the middle of the place to see how it all came together. I would certainly eat here before many other burger places out there, but not sure I would come her first. Atmosphere ** Food ** Service **** Overall **

Burger was nothing special. Big fan of Five Guys. @Burger wasn’t even a contender today. Music and TV played in restaurant was too loud to carry a conversation.

The only thing that I liked at @burger was their strawberry pecan salad. It’s a great combination of strawberries and lettuce with a raspberry vinaigrette. Unfortunately I can’t give it a better rating because it was still over $ 8.

I went here one Sunday afternoon when I looking for a quick lunch while in downtown Ann Arbor. I’d passed this place several times but never actually went in. I decided to try it out. I loved that you were able to build your own burger. I got a simple cheese burger with bacon and mayonnaise on it. I also got an order of fries. The burger was good and the fries were good quality. This is a great place to go if you want a simple no frills good burger. I would go here again for a simple lunch.

It’s new, clean, plenty of seats. The service is good, and the people are very friendly. It now offers free wi fi for customers. The burgers are decent; I like the toasted buns and the various toppings to choose from. The chip comes free, the fries are $ 1 extra(I think). I had the garlic mushroom & Swiss burger and my friend had the veggie burger and both were pretty good. There are better burgers out there and perhaps the prices are a bit high for some(or depending on the day, for us college students) but if you like burger with a good bun and a lot of toppings, this is a good place. I wouldn’t be dying to come back but it will be one of the places that I come back once in a while. Trying to decide between 3 stars and 4 stars, I’m giving 4 stars because of the friendly staff. Don’t order the shake though unless you like the thick, overly sweet stuff. My strawberry shake had an artificial color I didn’t like and it was way too sweet and sticky, not the way I like my shakes. It was similar to the Wendy’s shake, which I also hate. I like my shakes made with real ice cream.

I would definitely go back to @Burger! As a restaurant manager I’m usually a tough sell, but I had a great experience on Sunday! Reminiscent of a Pei Wei style dine-in restaurant, menu boxes sit at the front counter and a cashier waits to take your order. This can be overwhelming at first if you’ve never eaten there(which I haven’t) but I simply asked«What do you recommend?» and the super friendly cashier did a great job on explaining a couple of options. I appreciated that he knew the menu and described the food with enthusiasm. He sold me on the mushroom and swiss burger. The atmosphere of the space is open, colorful, and contemporary. Three huge flat screens make it a little more upscale to just a plain ol’ burger joint. From floor to ceiling you can tell they put a lot of effort into making it a place that looks good and is very comfortable. The food came up quickly and the cashier took the time to bring it out to us. Due to the fact that they were not super busy when I got there, I thought this was a nice touch. I was prepared to get it on my own, but I like the fact that he went above and beyond to help us. I thought the burger was great! It was big, messy and I ate the whole thing! I loved the crunchy chips too! I will recommend to anyone to get the bigger 7oz burger, it’s worth the money and the bun it comes on is delicious. I was hard pressed to find anything I didn’t like about the place. They even had some really funny shirts that I got for friends. I will admit to being slightly hung-over from festivities on Saturday night, which made this the perfect comfort food to make me feel better. And the best part– the food wasn’t greasy at all so it didn’t sit heavy on my stomach or leave me with food coma… I could eat this anytime, any day of the week.

This place has a nice dining area, but the burgers and fries are mediocre at best. I’ve been there three times now because I wanted to like it, but I won’t be returning. It’s a shame though because the staff are so nice.

@burger is a great place but not a great burger. the positives: you can build your own burger with lots of free toppings(including fresh jalapenos!) and even pick the size of the patty. a generous portion of delicious homemade chips come with the burger and for a dollar, you can sub fries(fries are delicious — they’re reminiscent of the butteriness of burger king fries, but are cut better and taste better too). there are tons of sauces to choose from on your burger or on the side. you can get frank’s red hot, dijon mustard, malt vinegar, and various«popcorn» seasonings(white cheddar, salt and vinegar, chili lime, etc.) which are tasty on the chips or fries. they also have lots of little promotions that make you feel like you’re getting a good deal. last friday and saturday they had five dollars burgers with chips and when i went today, they had free soft drinks. the service is also impeccable. they do not allow tips(signs explicitly say so) but the staff is super-friendly and accommodating. you also don’t have to bus your table. if i were rating just on service, they would definitely get five stars. negatives: the only complaint i have about @burger is, unfortunately, the burger. i know that people have been saying it can’t possibly be a good burger because of its big boy association, but to me, this is irrelevant. that being said, the burger just isn’t there. the last time, the boyf and i both ordered our burgers medium and they still came out dry and bland. the toppings and the sauces helped make it tastier, but a good burger just shouldn’t need that. the bun on the regular burger is a lot better than the bun on the«small appetite burger,» which was just a generic cold bun, whereas the regular burgers have a much better toasted bun. also, i wish they would stay open later. overall: i just really want to like @burger because i’ve always enjoyed myself there, despite the burger. i don’t think it’s overpriced considering the broad options you have for your burger. seven bucks for a burger and chips is not expensive in ann arbor(though with five guys opening soon, this may not be true anymore). i wish @burger the best because i think they are genuinely nice people, but they really don’t have the product to compete as a burger place in a town with a few burger places on every block.

@burger would have been a much better value had the burgers been around $ 5…but to be spending close to $ 9(with chips and drink) this becomes a problem. For the same amount I could get much more food somewhere else. For this kind of price I would be expecting tons of flavor, but sadly there wasn’t any. I haven’t a real beef burger in a few years and decided for this new place I would break down and get a real burger. I got their guacamole burger with regular chips and a soft drink. Honestly, it didn’t blow me away by any means. Flavorless and a little pricey. Looks like I will be heading back to bean burgers after all!

In my opinion, a good burger doesn’t need any extras — it should taste delicious all on its own. @burger falls short of delivering that simple, juicy burger. My burger was hopelessly bland and I needed to add salt and pepper to get any kind of flavor. I feel like the burger needed more fat and a lot more zing. The house-made potato chips had no salt on them! They tasted like deep fryer. As much as the food was lacking flavor, I have to say the service was great! The staff is all smiles and very helpful. Hopefully they will work on the food some more and create a tastier burger… otherwise I suggest going elsewhere.

Waited for this place to open, and wanted it to be great. Like the look and vibe they’ve achieved. It makes me think that one of the Big Boy execs had paid a visit to one of the Bobby Flay burger joints and lifted much of his concept. However, it’s not even close to being that good. BUT, it is better than Great Plains Burger Co. and Bagger Dave’s in my opinion. I’ll keep waiting for Five Guys to open in the fall on State Street.

So many burger joints, so little bookstores. As the landscape of Ann Arbor changes, so must I. It took me a few years to actually walk into Bruegger’s Bagels(née’ Drake’s). About this burger invasion… it’s going to be hard for me to maintain maximum safe distance. I relish a good juicy meat patty(or patties) creatively composed into a symphony with gooey cheese, crisp pickles, creamy avocado, etc., all flagrantly defying the laws of physics between two pieces of bun. @ has carved out a nice patio for themselves in the nearby alley. They have cute t-shirts for their staff to wear. Their prices seem pretty reasonable. Their burgers come with a generous portion of homemade chips! Here’s how you do it @ this joint: You order at the register and are handed a small device that isn’t a taser but looks like one. You get your napkins and silverware(metal, not plastic!) then sit down. Suddenly, your non-taser will buzz and start talking back to you. A server will appear with your food and set it down on the table before you. Everything comes with a piece of candy(jawbreakers, mostly). I «built» my own burger with cheddar, a fried egg and garlic mayo(the menu says«aioli» but the person taking your order reads it on their register as «mayo»). The egg wasn’t cooked as hard as it should’ve been because after the first bite, the yolk was on me! The burger itself was cooked medium-well, yet juicy. The bun was fabulous(whole wheat?) and soft yet crisp-toasted on the outside. I ponied up the extra $ 1 for skinny, skin-on fries. They were average. I’ll stick with the chips next time, which looked much more appetizing. Here’s my MAIN complaint: here are TWO flat screen televisions along the walls(maybe three, I didn’t look above where we were sitting). Each of them was tuned to a different channel. I don’t understand WHY restaurants feel the need to have televisions. I detest televisions in any type of dining or drinking establishment. If I want to watch TV while eating I’ll stay home and make my own burger and watch something far more interesting than ESPN. Am I to gather that these new burger joints are being tailored for a specific market? If so, I’m staying the hell away. I like my burger joints old school. Aside from the pesky televisions, the service was great. The servers were all smiles and extremely helpful. Blimpy’s is my favorite, but heavier on the grease than most places. For those in-between times, I can see myself coming back here for take-out.
