Zamaan has some really great authentic Mediterranean food. I usually get the deluxe gyro and their lentil soup, which has just the right consistency. There is a slight language barrier with their fairly heavy accents, but it’s easy to overcome. The servers are really nice. Sometimes when it’s busy the service becomes a little slow, but it’s always worth the wait. The only thing I have gotten on the menu that disappointed me was the Greek salad, which at the time I guess I received the last bit of their lettuce supply as it was pretty yellow and white, though the deluxe gyro I got soon after had perfectly green lettuce in it. I also enjoy their Turkish coffee and hot cinnamon tea.

Their employees take the best parking spots everyday and their prices are always different. They’ve also tried to charge me twice on multiple occasions. Not how you should run a business

Previously, I had had carry out from the Zamaan on Plymouth Road at a friend’s house and I didn’t think that it was that good. Since the carry out was dry and cold, I was interested in dining in at this location. I went for lunch and had a cup of the lentil soup with warm pita and the classic gyro. I also had the cinnamon tea which was Fantastic. The food was good and I really liked the size(and price under $ 6 and you can add a Greek salad or fries for a combo price) of the gyro. Some big eaters might find the gyro not filling enough but I like eating a more reasonably-sized gyro and getting other things with it. My friend said that her Greek salad was very good. Total bill for lunch for two was just over $ 20 plus tip. The décor inside was nice and not too casual, nor too fancy. Our food arrived quickly. The people who worked here were really nice and friendly.

It’s all about the ‘Hummus Specials’ and I get the Sujuk with sauteed mushrooms. Oh good lord yes. There is a bit of a language barrier, point to things on the menu and order slow.

Hard to give a broad overview of this place because I order the exact same thing every time. I ordered the Karnabeet the first time I came here because it was one of the few items on the menu that was nearly carb free. However, even if I was to sway from my low carb lifestyle, I would still order this every time! Perfectly roasted cauliflower over a bed of lettuce and tomatoes, topped with tahini and pomegranate seeds. It is listed as an appetizer, but it it more than enough for a meal for one. Two different colleagues of mine have come with me and have sampled items from the entrée side and were very happy with their results. Ann Arbor has some amazing food!

Zamaan Café is the best value for money restaurant in Washtenaw county. it is also the best Mediterranean restaurant around — maybe the best in Michigan. Their food is absolutely great. Olli Lamminen

I’ve done take-out twice and dined in once. Really good mediterranean food. The hummus is excellent, pita very good, and garlic sauce very nice. The service is exceptionally friendly and I can’t wait to return. Thanks Zamaan for being our go-to take-out place.

Every meal I’ve had here has been terrific. The shwarma and falafel are always great, and their cinnamon tea is to die for.

Great, authentic food. Karnabeet was good, flavorful rice with cranberries and almonds. Chicken was good but could have used a little more spice. Service was OK, somewhat inattentive.

Loved the food! Will be back for lunch again :) And I ate my bodyweight in hummus and totally loved it!

Unfortunately, this was a 3-star experience all around. Although the food wasn’t bad and the café was pleasant, it wasn’t exceptionally good, either, and the service was very slow and inattentive. The falafel wasn’t terribly flavorful, and the falafel pita was mostly tomato. So, although I’d follow a friend there, I likely wouldn’t return on my own.

I went here after experiencing the other location(not that great of service) and it was okay. The staff was very welcoming and smiled alot which made me feel welcome. The food was like the other location, delicious! I got a veggie plate. YUM. The only downfall was I had a tea and had to ask for it to be refilled. I had my card ready and had the empty glass, but it seemed the server was cleaning this large-party table next to me when it probably could have waited. There were still alot of empty tables, and I was clearly sitting there, waiting, with my empty glass of ice. I was also waiting on a check. So amazing food and nice staff, but I guess a refill on your drink might not happen. I’m a little confused because at both locations, you sit down and pay at the end with tip, but refills are non-existent.

I am always surprised at how many different options there are to eat at in the plaza and Zamaan was recommended by a good friend. I ordered the Chicken Schwarma Combo which came with fries and a drink. The combo part was a bit pricey for the small portion of fries that came with it, but I managed to escape without spending over 10 $. The wrap was great — tasty and juicy. The ratio of wrap to meat and other additives was perfect. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful — and there are really yummy after-dinner candies at the register!

God, if you only knew how much hummus I ate while here… I went here for lunch with some friends, and we got 1 meat platter and 1 veggie platter for the 4 of us to share. Delicious! My faves, besides the hummus, were the chicken skewers, the roasted cauliflower and the salad. Service was a little tricky, since there was a bit of a language barrier, but it all worked out in the end.

I ordered the karnabeet, falafel sandwich, and baklava. The karnabeet is what I imagine halal junk food to be: savory, creamy, and flavorful. I will say that the sauce was a bit overdone on mine. I was really hoping to be able to taste the cauliflower seasoning and tahini. Instead the sauce pretty much over powered the whole dish. The deluxe falafel sandwich was par for the course. Nothing special but exactly what you would expect from a falafel wrap. The baklava was definitely the best part of my meal. Order the cashew and pistachio baklava to soothe your soul. They are delicious! If you’re looking for a place that will fill you up with not a ton of culinary character then hit this spot.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Chicago. Staff was very friendly, owner was around. The ladies cooking were«moms» so they def knew what they were doing! I was very impressed with the quality! It was very good and the seasoning was really GREAT. I got the Kufta. Their hummus had pomegranate in it which was kinda weird to me. The pricing was not cheap, my husband and I spent $ 40 dollars with tip for lunch.

2.5 stars We got the karnabeet(~$ 7) which consisted of sauteed cauliflower with tahini parsley and tomatoes. I thought it was okay, Unilocal seems to hype it up, but I don’t think it’s something I’d pay over $ 5 for again. There was just too much tahini sauce that drenched the cauliflower of its sautee. They claim that the tomatoes are diced, but they were mostly sliced. We also got the traditional hummus(~$ 5), which I thought was solid. The consistency and flavor of the hummus was great. I wouldn’t say I haven’t had better, but it’s definitely of quality. We got the Shish Tawook(~$ 12ish; tangy chicken marinated cubes with garlic sauce) and Chicken Kabob(~$ 12ish; chicken breast marinated with saffron) entrees, which as described made it seem different. However, they came out and looked exactly alike. We tried each other’s and tasted the same. What a shame. The only difference is the kabob plate comes with a cucumber yogurt as opposed to the garlic sauce of the tawook. I was a little disappointed in that. The good side to it is that the chicken for the most part wasn’t really dry. The center of the cubes were nice and tender. The pita bread here is below average. Thin and not much fluff to it. Lastly, the service here could be improved. Granted it is named a «café» but their set up and ambiance is more of a sit down restaurant. We were told to sit wherever and weren’t handed a menu until about 5 – 10 minutes in. We got or appetizers which were supposed to come with pita bread, but the guy asked if we wanted any. No, sir, I’d just go ahead and eat my hummus alone, thank you(sarcasm). Maybe I just ordered the wrong things and had a bad first impression with the service, but usually below 3 stars I wouldn’t consider trying again. I might give this place an exception as it’s a borderline 2⁄3 star, IMO.

This is definitely a veggie lovers paradise. I had to try the much lauded karnabeet. I had not tasted it before and I am a sucker for cauliflower. Oh man. So good. Lightly fried with delicious sauce. I could easily eat this as a main. The tabouli was also happily tasty, super fresh and light. Terrific traditional style falafel, very satisfying and filling. To go with our app graze we each had a bowl of lentil soup which had good texture and a nice pop of lemonyliciousness to it. Atmosphere is casual. Service was friendly. No major glitches or anything. I will return with a meat eater to explore my more carnivorous side. Definitely interested to try more for sure.

Nice job on the food here at Zamaan. I found a great selection on the menu whether for lunch or dinner. For a starter: Get the Ghanoush! The Baba Ghanoush is a must order for an appetizer/side order, etc. It is spectacular… and it wasn’t just because I was hungry.
Here for lunch, so tried a cup of Lentil soup followed by a Chicken Shawarma wrap. The lentil soup was good, but too salty. Thumbs up on the chicken schwarma wrap. Filled with their own Marinated chicken, char-griiled, and stuffed along with veggies, pickles and a very delicious garlic sauce. Others in the group got the Chicken gyros which they have very high marks. Though I passed on the fries, I couldn’t help to not try some. They are extremely delicious… so beware! Atmosphere inside is pleasant. Casual, but with some nice furnishings. Very neat and clean. Good service too. Great choice here in the area.
