Other Unilocalers complained about the lack of cashiers and long lines, and while yes, that’s true, that’s not the reason I’m giving just one star. It takes me forever to find a sales associate with anything! For such a large store, it seems like only 2 people there a time. Any time I’ve asked for help finding something, most of the associates act annoyed I’m asking or tell me they«don’t know» if they have a product or not. Today’s encounter the lady was just plain rude and short in her answers. Horrible customer service.

Bottom Line: Diverse craft supplies and always a line to check out but 40% coupons help ease the pain. I’ve been to the full gamut of Michael’s store ranging from«did a cyclone just come through here» to bright, clean and perfectly organized. This particular location falls somewhere in between. The store seems to be bright, clean and organized but as usual, the staff is below average. No one says hello to you or offers to help you find the random item you are seeking. If there is staff throughout the store then they are usually absorbed into their task and not interested in customers. Like so many other Unilocalers have said, there are always lines at the cash registers. Well, make that line, singular, one looong line waiting on just one cashier working one register. I do appreciate the diverse selection that Michael’s have. After all, they are catering to a wide range of crafts. You can’t find cream of the crop supplies here, but you can absolutely find the basics for just about any craft. Jewelry making, cake decorating, scrapbooking, knitting, school projects, etc., they have it. The upside to Michaels is the 40% coupon that you get in the Sunday paper or better yet, can just pull down on your phone. If it wasn’t for this coupon system, I don’t think Michaels would be nearly as popular.

Always a wait to get out of this store. Stock is good. I’m just saying don’t pass up another craft store to get here. ACMoore in SP has a better yarn selection!

I just called this store for a special order. The worst customer service! The cashier put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then the manager answered the phone rude as hell! completely unprofessional and i will quite surely spend my money elsewhere.

I love my Micheals, except sometimes they don’t put enough people on the register that makes me a bit nutty. But they always have a fantastic selection, they frequently update their products for the changing seasons. They have a great framing department that has some great ready to go frames of different qualities which I have used many times. They also have cake products which I frequently purchase, I love baking, cooking, creating, scrap booking etc. They also have beading materials, wood working stuff, knitting supplies, tshirt making items, baskets, styrofoam, floral stuff… ribbon… wow, it goes on and on. And always look for the coupon on their facebook or the newspaper. There is always one each week.

I’ll be honest, they’re ok, but they’re not«OMG! Awesome». I would LOVE it if they removed the bins from the middle of the bigger aisles, ESPECIALLY during the holidays. The holidays are a nightmare to shop anywhere anyway, but you triple the normal number of customers with coats and packages and this store is just a pain to get through. My newest gripe with Michaels is NONE of their stock is online for sale, even their own brands. On a recent trip, I found one ball of this gorgeous sparkly black yarn in the Loops and Threads brand. I came back a week later, and it still hadn’t been restocked. Checked their website. Can’t order squat. Awesome. Didn’t realize they were still stuck in 1995. The checkout staff has always been friendly even when they’re busy, even when my phone won’t get the coupon on the screen fast enough.(Wait, they’ll do mobile apps but no selling on their website… does anyone else see the irony here?) Points to them for friendliness. I’ll probably be back, only because I still need another ball of that yarn!

I go here for many of my projects, which is often. I usually have to customize something that it was never intended to be used for, but Michael’s is a help whether they know it or not. Custom picture frames are a bit pricey, but where else can you purchase $ 0.65 foam drink coolers to be used as sound/road noise deadening devices in my old/antique car? I get some good sewing supplies here as well.

Hey there Michaels. I think the object of the game is to sell stuff. So the faster you get customers through check out the better. Today I walked in and there was a line down the aisle with one cashier. Poor girl kept her cool but how much pressure is that… to have a line full of people who really really want to give you their money but just have to give you the stink-eye instead. Just be like the grocery stores. When there’s more than three in line, open up a new register. That would be awesome. Especially when we just want to get home after a long day.
