I was pleasantly surprised when a friend suggested brunch here because it is secretly one of my favorite brunch cafes. I love the imitate feel & the southern home cook recipes, paired with signature drinks. If you can stand a little wait, sometimes close to a hour for a table; it is well worth it. It’s a Sunday to go for locals so I suggest you pick another day if you have a tight schedule to keep. Happy brunch trails to you!

First time trying Miss Shirleys café in Annapolis. Lets start with the appetizer the buttermilk biscuits. The blackberry jam was good with it but the biscuits were a little overcooked and dry. I liked them but i was not in love with them. My wife got the coconut cheese french toast. She enjoyed the cream cheese inside the french toast, but the bread was not very soft. I got the chicken and waffles. I really enjoyed it. The chicken had a kick which was from the jalapeño butter and cajun spices. The chicken was very moist as well. I also got the blueberry waffles with the chicken and those waffles were great too. That would be the main reason I would come back to Miss Shirleys is for the chicken and waffles.

the service here was amazing, it’s a nice place to have a good lunch, duck’s that everything is pricey. I had the chicken sliders, they were very hot, and hard to bite because they were just that thick.

I’ve been coming to Miss Shirley’s for about three years now and I can’t believe I’m just getting around to writing a review. The chicken and Waffles are delicious. I always get the cinnamon danish waffles with my chicken. They have the bomb honey mustard sauce that I’m always requesting more because it’s never enough. My most recent visit I decided to get one of their specialty pancakes of the month. It was a banana bread pancake and it was very enjoyable. I think I prefer my cinnamon danish waffles better but if you love pancakes you can’t go wrong with any of the different flavors they offer. I also love the grits. they are so thick and creamy with a lil bacon mixed it. Miss Shirley’s will always be one of my favorite breakfast spot. They have me for life.

Best breakfast in Annapolis. Everything is good but the OJ(it’s not fresh squeezed). The french toast special is always good. The cuban is great and so is the coffee. I have never had a bad meal here and the service is outstanding. They are attentive and even ask if you have food allergies before you order.

I’ve been here now about 5 times and every time, I leave happy and stuffed. I’ve learned that it is best to go early in the morning to minimize the wait time. Some places give you an estimate of the wait time and the wait ends up being less… not at this place. If they say about 45 minutes, it will be at least 45 minutes. Their coffee isn’t that great; it tastes a little watered down. The crab cakes benedict dish is still my favorite, although I hate that their«special» dishes only say«market price» on the menu. This should imply that the price goes down sometimes, but I somehow doubt that. My friend got the Shirley’s Affair with Oscar steak dish and paid over $ 35 for it. For breakfast! The Coconut French Toast is to die for, although it is a bit sweet. I’ve never had a bad dish here. Seriously.

The Cheesecake Factory of Breakfast Spots! Inventive menu, terrific portions, delicious food, and attentive service. The restaurant fills up quickly on the weekends, so come early.

Absolutely love this location. We’ve been to another location and it just wasn’t the same. It’s worth the 30 minute drive to come out and have a breakfast in a warm environment. The food and service is awesome! The area is nice. Don’t forget to get your funky monkey bread.

Miss Shirley’s Café: My friends keep telling me to try this place and how great it is. Let me just say, after trying this place out for the first time… I have to admit, they were right. I was very impressed and amaze with their menu selection and most of all, the food was very good! Came here on a Sunday to the Annapolis location for brunch with my bf and they said wait time would be 1 hour and 45 minutes for two. Luckily two seats opened up at the bar and we were able to steal it and ate at the bar, instead of having to wait over an hour to be seated at a table because we were STARVING! Looking through the menu, I noticed they have a large selection of options to choose from and it was tough for me to decide what to eat because everything sounded delicious. I wanted to try everything! Large menu with extensive of options can sometimes be good or bad in my experience. However, I have no complaints about the items we ordered. The food came out quick and hot, and everything tasted phenomenal. It was seasoned perfectly and every bite until the end tasted just as good as the first bite of my food. When I say I have no complaint about the food I mean it. I can’t wait to try all their other items the next time I go back. We ordered: Fried Grits, Fried Chicken & Waffles:(Belgian Waffles), Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, Southern Slammer Sammi. Overall, I had a positive experience dinning with Miss Shirley’s Café as far as the food goes. I can’t really say much in terms of the service because we were self seated at the bar, but I’m sure service is great as well or this place wouldn’t be that popping!!. My only complaint would be the limited hours that their opened and the fact that they don’t take reservations. It makes it difficult for people to try this place especially if their on a time crunch. However, if time isn’t an issue then I certainly recommend this place, I promise you won’t be disappointment and it’ll be well worth the wait. But be prepared because there will be a long wait!

I’ve been to Miss Shirley’s twice now — Annapolis location both times. I first came with my Mom and sister and loved it so much I took my husband two weeks later. The wait can get long(30 – 60 minutes or more at times), but it is well worth it. The service is friendly and the food comes out quickly. Their menu includes items I just don’t see on other brunch or lunch menus, the main course serving sizes are generous, and I will be back again and again. Favorite brunch place. Specific Dish Reviews: * Fried Green Tomatoes — Perfectly cooked and seasoned, would order again. * Buffalo Shrimp Deviled Eggs — This is the only dish I’ve had that was disappointing. There were only four deviled eggs(2 eggs total because each is ½ an egg) and it was basically just plain deviled eggs with a piece of shrimp on top drizzled with hot sauce and blue cheese. I could easily make this at home and would not order it again. * Creamy Dill Cucumber Salad — Absolutely delicious. I would order this again. * Shredded Potato & Onion Hash Browns — The potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and very good. Would order again. * Applewood-Smoked Bacon — The bacon was a little greasy and came with three pieces. I probably would not order this again because of the Scrapple… * Scrapple! I am beyond happy to report that Miss Shirley’s knows their Scrapple! They serve RAPA and cook it perfectly — crispy outside, soft inside. I would order this again. * Southern Slammer Sandwich — This is absolutely delicious. It’s filling! The egg is cooked just enough so it doesn’t make a mess, but still gives that yummy yolk taste and feel. Would order again. * Amy’s Bagel — This is my favorite so far. The portion is huge and the combination of flavors is so creative and delicious. Even the salad on the side is awesome. Would order again. * Captain Chesapeake Club — This was good and they use REAL Old Bay! They even have it on the table. I don’t know if I’d order this one again. * Cone Of Sweet Potato Fries — Big enough for two to share as a side. The Citrus Aioli was so tasty that we asked for more and put it on the Captain Chesapeake Club, too! * House-Made Biscuit — These are made with REAL butter and amazing. I could eat 100 if they let me. Would order again.

Food was great. Everything is a la carte. The wait was 1 hour and 30 minutes. Try to go as early as possible if going on the weekend, because the waiting area is small and the restaurant is small as well at this location.

Miss Shirley’s Café’ is the !! LOL I came here the day of our memorable 2016 snow storm for my last meal before being snowed in for dddaayyyss and boy am I glad I did! They have street parking which is limited and metered so I suggest you park in the parking garage located behind the restaurant and besides why not when they are so gracious to validate for 2 hours of parking! I was greeted with happy faces and immediately shown to my seat. I was fortunate to arrive at a time when it wasn’t that crowded(probably because everyone was raiding the grocery store before the storm). Waitress came over shortly after and gave the run down on the menu and specials. She sold me immediately when she started describing a texas toast type french toast dish that was stuffed with cinnabon type flavors, cream cheese, topped with cinnamon, powdered sugar and a cinnamon bun on the side! OMG I almost started drooling as she was talking! LOL Honey chile’!! Wwhhheeww that thing was almighty goodness for sure! I also ordered a side of applesmoked bacon and eggs. The bacon was so freakin good(I LOVEBACON!!) The bacon AND eggs were fresh to death and tasted like they were brought in straight from the farm! YYeesss! DELICIOUS! Tad bit disappointed in myself that it took me so long to make my way here but I’m glad I finally did! My waitress was very attentive and not overbearing. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will be back soon and very soon!

My husband and I met a childhood friend of mine here for brunch while we were in town for the holidays. It was a Saturday, so of course it was busy, but the wait wasn’t very long, only about ten minutes. I had the Crab Happy Chesapeake Chicken Sammy, and hubby had the Crab Cake and Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict. While both meals were plated beautifully, they fell just short of making any sort of impression. That’s not to say the food wasn’t good because it was… but honestly, nothing stood out. While we enjoyed our meals, neither of us felt that they were worth market price. According to their menu, they serve Rise Up Coffee. I have been to the Rise Up Coffee stand in St. Michaels and love their espresso. I’m not sure if it is just the roast or how it is brewed, but here at Miss Shirley’s, the coffee is just sort of mediocre. I realize I am in the minority, not absolutely loving this place, but it wouldn’t take much to talk me into coming back. There are so many other delicious-sounding entrees to try, and I seriously want to drink my way through their cocktail menu(next time, hubby drives). I know that this is their third location, but I expected something a little more mom and pop and a little less chain restaurant. Not a complaint, just an observation of the ambiance. The service here, however, was excellent.

Not Impressed –_– I took my boyfriend to brunch for his birthday and he was excited. I told him my experienced at the Inner Harbor and how fantastic it was. So I assumed this would be the same way; boy was I wrong ugh. I first ordered a blackberry crush which was okay I could hardly taste any liquor in it. I recommended the chicken and waffles with a side of cheesy egg for him :). The presentation was not the same like the Inner Harbor, they forgot to put honey mustard on the chicken which I thought was weird, I had to request honey mustard for our table. I wanted him to experience everything I experienced. I took a chance and ventured out to something else«Maryland Omelette». I regretted as soon as I saw it, my coworker raved how delicious it was and how huge the crab lumps are. Maybe for the Inner Harbor one however, this«Maryland Omelette» was a huge disappointment, I rather went to subway next door and been satisfied with that. The Maryland Omelette cost 18.99, which was way over priced for the amount of crab meat you received. The presentation was not appealing at all, I had a side of hash browns with grilled onions. I only recall seeing one sliced of grilled onions. It also comes with a biscuit which I did not care for. The biscuit had a weird taste to it. On the bright side our server offered me a rewards card for Miss Shirley’s, I had no clue they had one, so that was a plus. Overall I won’t come to this location again. I just stick to my Inner Harbor Shirley’s :)

What makes this place great is the delicious food, what holds this place back from being Awesome is the amount of time that you have to wait for a table, especially on Sundays after the church crowd arrives. I’ve been here several times, but only for brunch. When you walk into Ms. Shirley’s you should already know that you’re going to have to wait at least 30 – 45 mins for a table. I’ve never had a bad experience here. I always order whatever seasonal pancake or French toast that they are offering along with some turkey bacon or sausage. And of course you can’t have brunch without enjoying one of their fantastic AM drinks, my favorite being the Shirley’s Crush & the Southern Ruby Crush. When I want a great breakfast to eat this is one of my go to spots, especially if I get up early enough to avoid the crowds. Ms. Shirley’s Café will leave a smile on your face & leave your stomach full and happy.

We went to the Coldspring Lane Miss Shirley’s one week prior, so there might be a little more criticism here than if it had been our first visit ever. Still– overall great experience! Met a friend from DC here on a Sunday morning, had about a 45 minute wait for a table of three(expected, totally fine). We were seated toward the back of the restaurant and ordered some of the delicious-looking adult beverages that they had on display at the host stand. GREATCHOICE. The drinks took a bit to come out, but were delish. We placed our orders and waited about 25 minutes for our food. Had a hard time convincing myself NOT to order the Chicken and Waffles I had the week before, but I had to try something different this time! I ordered the White Chocolate Raspberry Waffles and was not overly impressed. They were plain old mini-waffles with some raspberries and white chocolate chips thrown on top, and a bit of raspberry drizzle on the side. Maybe I was expecting too much? My husband got an omelet, and it was a pretty standard looking/tasting omelet. Friend got the Southern Sammy, which she said was good(but not anything to write home about). Should have repeated the Chicken and Waffles for sure! For the rest: The restaurant was quite clean for how busy it was, and the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and efficient. Oh! They also validate parking for anyone that parks in the Westin garage(which we did not… boo!).

Wow… this place has an extensive menu! I had no idea it had so many items on their menu. OMG. The waiter was very professional. I thought we were at Osteria or Capriccios with the 5 star service. We had a late breakfast on a weekday OUTSIDE. They even comped out parking pass in the garage too! Can’t beat that. Awesome menu selection and the food is incredible. This is not a «Mom and Pop» breakfast place like I thought it was. It’s a full service restaurant and a gem in Annapolis. Please go check it out if you haven’t already. One reason I know it was very good is everyone was so quite eating… like when you know the meal is good, not a lot of talking.

Miss Shirley’s definitely deserved my last lunch in Annapolis. Almost every aspect is so good here, but it is pricey. Get ready to spend $ 30+ for a brunch entrée that involves crab. There are so many yummy things to choose from and you’ll have a hard time making up your mind. The pancakes are really filling — but not overly sweet — and should be shared. You can custom make your pancakes and salads, and there are all varieties of breakfast and brunch items. The servers are all really friendly, and the place is never crowded on weekdays. Last time I tried the crab cake and fried green tomato eggs benedict. It was very well flavored. The crab cakes were juicy, the tomatoes crispy, and the corn and tomato relish in the middle with a kick to it. Treat yourself to some inventive, fresh, and decadently done food and beverages. It does cost more than your normal breakfast joint, but worth celebrating a mini special occasion or an impulsive splurge that doesn’t really break the bank.
