One of the reasons that I am a fan is that this place is so close to home! I don’t go in there very often since none of their foods contribute to a healthy diet. But when I feel like treating myself and others, I usually stop by here first. I love their cakes! Especially the chocolate mouse and the lemon berry almond cakes. You’ll probably drop about $ 25-$ 30 for a cake that feeds about 4 people, but I don’t think you’ll find any other bakery around here that specializes in the European style of cakes. Cakes aren’t the only thing that they have, they also do breads and baguettes. I believe that the breads are baked at their HQ bakery in Bethesda and shipped daily to the Annapolis location. Apparently if you place an order for fresh bread every day. The cookies are also phenomenal! I got one of each cookie that they had in a cute little carry box to take to work. They beat Dunkin’ Donut Munchkins ANY day. These are come pricey cookies, ranging from $ 1.50 to $ 2.50. They are very fresh and very tasty. Their coffee is also pretty good. The only thing that stinks is that their coffee comes in only one size, small. Really? Would it be that much more difficult to serve coffee in a variety of sizes? So what is nice is that they are open at 7AM so you can get some morning coffee and a pastry. They get their coffee from Café Pronto, which is also a great place.

I’ve popped into Praline a handful of times since we moved to Annapolis 2 months ago and it’s OK. I’ve tried the little quiches which are pretty good but not something I’d crave. I went there today on my way home from an appointment as I had a migraine that only a chocolate cupcake would cure. I found 2 left so I bought them both and a little quiche. The gal behind the counter told me to cook the quiche at 350 for 10 minutes which sounded totally wrong and sure enough it was. It should be more like 20 minutes at 350 to heat it through fully. Anyway, it filled my belly but I make a better quiche myself. I also had a double chocolate chip cookie that was tender and delicious and made me wish I didn’t eat it in the car on the way home as I desperately needed milk. Like I said, I only pop in here once a month or so when I need a good cupcake. The service was so so, the prices are really high, and a lot of things are not labeled with a price or anything telling me what the item is. I’ll likely stop in again for a cupcake or cookie, but I’m hoping to find something in the area with a bit more variety and better prices.

The idea and the desserts are delicious, and a day old. The young lady behind the counter, was rude, and busy texting and not exactly willing to help. But when I asked her about a cake, I had to pull teeth to actually find out what was in the case. So we got what we thought was a lemon almond cake(which turned out to be a lemon blueberry — the lady didn’t know what she was talking about?), an apple tart, some really delicious cookies, meringue. I think that’s it. The lemon/blueberry cake was delicious, but it definitely looked like it had been there a couple days. The apple tart, yum, apple tart. Nothing overly exotic. Very tasty stuff though. Now the cookies, I will go back for, but again they were rather mis-represented. They were delicious and in many colors, but they To start there was some old cookies(I suppose as decoration) in jars on display, and they were labeled in all different flavors, and then you looked at the cookies below(the ones for actual sale) and they were bright bright colors-so the decoration is a bit of a turn off, they should change that! The cookies were labeled mango, lemon etc, but they all seemed to have the same Guyana jelly or something like that. Now don’t get me wrong, they were delicious and I will be going back for the cookies, but for the attitude and for the bakery, I will probably stick to my old favorite down the road. Thanks for the yums! See you back for the cookies! PS I LOVETHELONGHOURS! And the fact that they cater and have specialty cakes to order.

Love, love the cakes from Praline. We had«small» cakes for our wedding. Instead of one large cake we went with 7 cakes of varying sizes, shapes, and flavors; then used them as centerpieces. The guests loved it! There was something for everyone — beautiful looking, vibrant colors, perfectly executed, and AMAZING flavors. Ayi was terrific to work with, professional and passionate about her work. The delivery was great — all I know is I ordered them in person and they were on the tables at the wedding! The flavors we chose — and loved — Carrot Cake Casis-White Chocolate Mousse Cake Chocolate Pistachio Cake Chocolate Raspberry Pave Grand Marnier Truffle Lime Mousse Cake Mango Mousse Cake Tiramisu

They make awesome European style desserts. The gâteau opera both looks and tastes fabulous. It comes in a slender and elegant rectangular slice. Its texture is perfect — velvety chocolate coating over the moist and light cake, not overly sweet either. I don’t think I’ve had an opera cake this good since my last trip to Vienna. We also got a piece of apple tart, which is also delicious. The apples are thinly sliced but thickly layered over wisps of puffed pastry. I’m definitely returning for more of their goodies.

The croissants are to die for and their macaroons… well, they too are fabulous. I ordered a birthday cake that was actually a macaroon cake! Raspberry macaroon with a raspberry mouse that was beautifully decorated and presented. Love this place! Plus, the center is really turning into a great gourmet spot!
