It seems like there’s been a change in ownership. The menu has changed and not for the better…

Carne Asada fries are bomb for $ 10(somewhat pricy) but do the employees there know how to smile??? Walked up to the cashier and it seemed like we were almost a bother to them as he took our order with a total glare on his face. Ok maybe he was just having a bad day but then I asked another worker for a bag for chips(which I think they’re supposed to provide for us w/our order but didn’t) bc we were taking our order to go and the girl working looked as if it was an inconvenience for her when it wasn’t the least bit busy when we went in. There was only one other customer. So I’m sorry, is my business an inconvenience for you guys? It’s not just the quality of food that keeps customers going back, it’s the quality of service as well. Clearly, the workers at Carolina’s need to be reminded of this.

I really like the food. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Unfortunately, the unprofessional staff really ruins what could be a great place. The very last time I went in, the cashier and cook were having a rather loud and obscene argument right behind the counter in front of the customers. I was absolutely appalled, I haven’t been in there since and I won’t go back.

I don’t understand the bad reviews of Carolina’s in Antelope. A recent remodel is spacious and clean. The salsa bar is great and all you can eat chips and salsa. I’ve gotten the rolled tacos, tacos, burritos and quesadillas. All different meats and it all was good. I wouldn’t necessarily order enchiladas from a taqueria, its not the same as a restaurant. Its more of a grab and go type of food. Fast food if you will. The staff is always polite and nice. I even was given extra food since the cook made me rolled tacos with cheese and I asked for no cheese, they said I could have both.

Better off going to adelbertos on Watt just like 5 – 10 mins away and supposedly all the same stuff but always tastes better there and really quick drive thru.

I ordered their carne asada nachos. Taste was nothing special. For some reason, they were really greasy and made me sick the next morning. Next time, I will stick with my normal order which is the beans, cheese, and rice burrito.

The cashiers are always rude and Act like you’re bothering them. I’m pretty sure the reason they are there is to ring up my food with a smile. The food has consistently gone downhill. The chicken they now serve tastes like canned chicken. The cashier called it the tomato sauce chicken. Ick. They no longer, or according to her, have never served grilled chicken. The prices keep going up, to help pay for their remodeling I suppose. I will now be going across to greenback and auburn or patronizing another taqueria.

The place looks really nice, but I’m a vegetarian and got cheese enchiladas. They had beef in them then argued with me about how visible chunks of beef are cheese, and their red sauce/ranchero was so sour that it tasted almost fermented. When I went to get something else because meat will make me sick, they gave me the bean tacos I asked for. But, without any lettuce. Really? I am giving this two stars because the place is clean, but I’m not happy about the service our quality of food. No lettuce on a taco? What?

very disapointed! my family and i come here all the time to eat and the food is great. on this occasion i am met by someone i have never seen here before. i often order breakfast burritos and i am usually accomidated when i ask for a smaller burrito for my 4 year old daughter, because the normal portions are huge. today however, the woman says shes sorry and that they are one size, that they could make a smaller one, but i would pay the same price! i have, in the past, requested this and been charged 2 dollars for a small burrito, but today i was denied and when i said my daughter just wont get breakfast she didnt seem to care. i now have to go to an additional place that offers food in childrens portions because this place did not want to cater to my toddler. shame shame!

Always great food. Service for this particular place is pretty great considering it’s somewhat fast food. The portions of the food is great. You definitely get what you pay for. I eat here at least 4 times a month. Great place to eat and a great location for antelope. After the new remodel it’s a place where we can relax and enjoy our food.

this is the cleanest, nicest Carolina’s I have ever been to. Also, the latina chick that works here is drop dead gorgeous!

Its a shame places still use can refried beans. This is a example of one of those places. The beans for the side came out cold and the cheese just sat there not melting. Its a clean place but the food is mediocre at best. Would have expected better but after two visits I’m giving up. Not going to rush back for a third trip.

This makes me a little sad as I love this place, I found a tooth pick in my rolled taco. To me this is unacceptable. 8⁄22 around 1:30pm

First off the remodel they did to add the seating area is nice, fresh, and new. The flow of the place is a bit clunky at first but you get used to it. I ha a burrito and it was pretty good. A little too much grease at the end but hey this isn’t delicate french food this Is a Mexican restaurant so I don’t fault them for that. My wife had a enchilada and a taco with rice and beans everything was a solid 4 out of 5 . We’ll be back again I’m sure.

OMG!!! Taco Bell steak is better… Seems the place was doing good… busy plenty of to go orders going out… I need real authentic Mexican food. guess I’m just use to places where there are fresh chips, more than one choice of hot sauce. blah blah blah Anyway go try for yourself.

Thought I’d try this place again. Went to the one on Douglas 2 years ago and it sucked. Well this will be the last time. My friends tacos were so over cooked she couldn’t eat them. My tostado was also an over cooked shell. Steak was dry rice was dry and they microwaved the stuff to melt the cheese. My daughter’s nachos she had to return, my grandaughter burritos were tasting like tomato sauce. Never again wish I could give it minus stars

I called in an order for carne asada fries this afternoon. I don’t who I spoke to because I was given the price of $ 9.18 and then he quickly ended the call. Whatever, I’m hungry and in a rush anyway. I arrived to pick up the food, and asked the middle-aged gentleman at the counter when the price went up on asada fries. I looked up at him and he was glaring at the television behind me. Really? I asked again and he replied that the price went up in August. Okay, anyway. I paid and checked in the bag for napkins and forks. He said he had put some in the bag already. When I peeked in I saw about two napkins on top of the take-out box. I chuckled out loud, then snatched several more napkins from the counter. I grabbed some salsa verda, hot red sauce and jalapeño and got out of there. I brought the meal home to my SO as he’s really been craving the famous fries. I could tell as soon as he opened it that it would not compared to Adalberto’s, not even if they tried. But Carolina’s was in close proximity to me. Anyway, he said that it was good but that basically could taste the difference. I’ll likely never eat here but if I had the craving for similar food, I’d make the drive out to Aldaberto’s.

This is one of the nicer Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in Sacramento. That being said, their food is alright. I ordered carne asada nachos and two tacos and split it with one of my friends. It was way too much food for the both of us. You know how they say your eyes are bigger than your stomach? Yeah, don’t let the menu fool you. Both the nachos and tacos were filled with so much guacamole I could’ve sworn there was an avocado shortage in California. It was too much to even look at. We found ourselves scooping up the guacamole onto a plate just so we could eat the rest of the nachos. The cheese wasn’t melted, it was still grated and the tacos were over stuffed. Wait, I’m complaining about too much food? Who am I? The chips and salsa were standard, but nothing too special. The horchata was amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve had in Sacramento. But if you’re ever in the Antelope area, try this place out… For the horchata.
