I do not get it. I went here based on the Unilocal reviews, their food is goopy over sauced grossness. I think being a former fatty the only way someone can give this a positive review is based on portion size. Big unhealthy people prefer quantity over quality. Huge portions of low quality, old greasy, over sauced nastiness. Blech. This is very low quality, and that is putting it nicely. The rice smelled and tasted burnt and like old oil. This place was a filthy and in a bad area. Really Unilocalers 4 stars? What a joke.

The combo plate of Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken with fried rice is DELICIOUS.

Everything I’ve tried is tasty. And you can feed a family of 4 with one combo plate. People mention the ‘burned’ fried rice in other reviews — it takes a little getting used to, but that’s how they make it every time. I have to take off a star because they are terrible at estimating times. I have sat waiting for a pick up order many times, once for 40 minutes over their original estimate. They do have tables, but it’s cramped so I like to order out.

I love this place. It’s a hole in wall in Antioch by 7 eleven. Beef with eggplant(the best. I never found any place that cook as good as chop chop)…Must try ! Garlic chicken– very tasty. Salt & pepper spareribs– superb. *cheap * serving –enormous! * owner very nice & friendly & he always remember his customers and will always gives you the best deal esp For catering your parties. Even though we moved to SF I always make it a point to order there when I’m in Antioch.

I have been a regular for a while now. I normally don’t order the combo or over noodles /rice. I cook my rice at home. Love their salt pepper fish, double cooked chicken, and Mongolian beef. If you place your order during peak hour, after 6:15pm, expect to wait for 30 mins. or so. I normally order my plates 45 mins before my expected pick up time. Most people order to go as the seats are not comfortable. Most chicken/pork/beef dishes are around $ 8 or less. Good portion, too bad that they don’t open on Sunday.

I have been to this place many times and they have never let me down. Better to just order to go. Food is good and a great price for the portions. They are very accommodating if you would would like to change something on the combos. The portions are huge. Order a combo and you have another 2 or 3 meals after that.

Checked chop chop out the other night. It was on my way home so between that and the Unilocal reviews I gave it a try. Not really a dine in place very small booths! So to the point, I got the food home and oh my god the honey walnut chicken looked diseased and gray, so concerned I took a whif of the rice and noodles and it had a burnt smell with black sout residue on everything! I had to drive back and get my money back!!!

I ate here a few days ago after reading Unilocal reviews. I love soups and their Hot & Sour is best ever. Also had ribs in black bean sauce on rice. A little slow to arrive but only one man cooking. Good food, good prices. They have a few booths to eat in but take out seems what most do. Give Chop Chop a try. Then stop in at the little Mexican bakery next door for dessert(flan).

I love chop chop I come here a lot he remembers your name and everything but tonight my chip mein was stale and burnt. Other than tonight it’s my favorite meal so that is why I gave 5 stars. Just a bummer I wasted 10 $ on a dinner I can’t eat now

Just recently found out that a $ 10 combo plate could feed me and 2 friends! We were all full afterwards, and there were still some leftovers! Every time I order a combo plate the styrofoam container can barely stay closed, and the juices end up leaking to the bottom of the bag… Awesome! The food is delicious, and this place really does give you large portions for an extremely low price! Take my advice, and go see for yourself!

I visited on the 10⁄10 and this will be the last. The rice was burnt and very salty to the point I couldn’t really enjoy my food. The portions are awesome but the flavors are all off. It sucks that I have to find another Chinese spot when I’m in town.

Man, good olé Chop Chop, easily my favorite Chinese Restaurant in the Antioch, Pittsburg, Oakley and Brentwood side of the east bay. I been coming here since before the current owners took over the lease and started churning out way better food. Here is my review… The current owners took over in 2006, after a very brief and disappointing run by the previous owners who had changed the name to Chop Chop, before that it was called«Kings Chinese Food» I had never been when it was kings, but a few times as the Chop Chop ran by the previous owners. The food at that times was very… basic. It was a no frills and no thrills place. Very basic fair, at that time the owners were an Ameriasian Woman and her Causian Husband, just seemed they only cooked what they liked to eat personally and it showed because often times when I came in they were eating instead of tending to customers. After they switched ownership, I was delighted, the current owner use to own a chinese spot in chinatown SF and his father is direct from China. So I knew this was going to be good. Chop Chop’s food is cooked using the Hong Kong method. The Hong Kong style is seared, fried and sometimes spicy methods applied to the Mandarin and Cantonese style of cooking. Hong Kong is my favorite cooking method. Here they run a very great and low cost daily special menu which usually range from $ 6.99-$ 9.99 everyday as well as combo plate specials which is in the same price range as the specials. Of course extra for the seafood menu items. The owner and his cook father pretty much knows myself and family orders and names by heart so he knows what we want usually as soon as we walk in, I feel that’s cool and to the owner makes him feel great he has regulars. Each order isn’t even thrown in the wok till its ordered to ensure that it’s at its best flavor when you receive it. So no hot table method is used here. Over time the plates have gotten smaller and the prices gone up some, but the food quality is stll the same. My current order is usally always Seseme Chicken and Fried Rice or the combo«C» which is Pork Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp and Sweet and Sour Pork. You really can’t go wrong with much of anything here. In conclusion, I highly recommend Chop Chop, the flavors here are refreshing and different. The cooking method here is a nice change from the usual Cantonese or Mandarin you get at most restaurants. And the service is fast and prompt. A little hole in the wall along East 18th Street. But it’s a great one indeed! As always you be your own judge, Unilocal your own experience!

Come here every week or so for take out. The place is really good and I’m really picky when it comes to Chinese food. I usually get the general tso or orange chicken and I always ask for it extra crispy. They always deliver :) I love when its crispy! The cream cheese wontons are also great. The plates are loaded with food.

Great place to get take out. Worth the money. The portions last my family of three for two days of eating for lunch and dinner.

This place was amazing. The portions were huge and the food did not disappoint. My boyfriend got a huge plate for 6.75. It’s such a hidden gem. The location may be a little scary but don’t let looks fool you. This is our now go to place for Chinese. What’s great is that I just found out they deliver as well. I use to go to Uncle Wongs’s but now for half the price and twice the food in going here instead!!! Seriously it’s amazing. Oh and I almost forgot our server was amazing as well. I can’t believe more people don’t come here!!!

I ordered the $ 5.50 General Tsao lunch special that comes with Pork fried rice n it was so good! Chicken was crunchy & the sauce was delicious! The plate of food was more than enough. I didnt even eat half of the plate and I was full! I would definitely eat here again!

My girlfriend dragged me to this place and I’ll have to admit I was extremely hesitant at first! I’m not much of a fan of Chinese food and I had never even heard of this place! Anyways, I gave it a shot and came out of there extremely satisfied! The portions are huge so expect to take some food home! But even with big portions the food is still delicious! I’ve been back a few times since that day and the guy who takes your order is always so friendly! If you’re looking for great service and food for an affordable price, this is the place to go!

Everything is overly sauce. The rice is dry and I have to eat it. My husband is easy with food but he couldn’t even swallow this one.
