Fronteras looks like an old taco bell. the menu is plastered mostly in spanish all over the front of the interior. little after noon, just 2 amigos eating a matzalan burrito(8) which has everything but the kitchen sink. menu: typical of mexican eateries and taquerias. combo rice plates also. eats: al pastor burrito(5) –pretty huge with a little bit of everything in it –pork tasted kind of chewy not tender –salsa and something tasted vinegary, sour –rice not fresh, day old? –stale chips. –condiment bar in corner, blocked by 2 amigos eating. frijoles refritos: –asked cashier about being overcharged for burrito –refunded .55 cents after she checked her running tab. –either she’s inexperienced or made a mistake –food wasn’t good. probably no return.

Disregard the old Taco Bell exterior. This place has some of the most authentic and delicious Mexican food to be found anywhere in Antioch. The Caldo de Res and the Carne Asada tacos are better than anything being served up at yr favorite Oakland taco truck. And the prices are great. Plus, they’re local! So check em’ out!

Absolutely delicious Mexican food! The carne asada is the best I’ve ever had. The Mazatlan burrito(steak, shrimp, fish, grilled veggies, beans, rice, and guacamole) is outstanding, the Bistec Supremo plate is cooked with bacon or pancetta and is superb. My current favorite is the Torta Ahogada(torta sandwich covered in delicious hot sauce). The owners are friendly and the authenticity and care that goes into each dish is apparent with the first bite.

I don’t like this place. They do not take orders well. They are rude and unwilling to take back food that they made a mistake on. The«Wife» only can speak English when it is necessary, but when there is a issue she has a teen answer questions and responds to complaints I have not had the pleasure of meeting the«Husband» The food is tasteless and plain. However VERY cheap and Cheap tasting! We order 4 burrito’s and got one small bag of chips. $ 2 for extra I will never go here again. If you are looking for a GREAT burrito or Mexico food, you should go up a few blocks in b of A & in the Rite Aid shopping center. I unsure of the name. and No I don’t work there :) lol but the girl there is ALWAYS nice and the food is great!

Outstanding! This small and run down Restaraunt delivers on authentic Mexican dinner plates. A must have is the Carne Asada & Shrimp Combination Plate(around $ 12.00). This is not the sit-down Mexican Restaraunt experience where you have drinks and never ending chips and salsa brought to your table. Your not going to see Mariachi’s on a Saturday night, etc. The chips and salsa are actually sub par, but every dinner I have ever tried there was really terrific. Appears to be a Mom, Pop and Daughter operation. If you are going to eat inside during cold weather, wear a jacket because there is no insulation Inside on the concrete walls, it gets COLD in there. Definitely worth a try, they have lots of large color photos on the wall of all of the dinners they sell. It’s tough to choose because they all look so good in the pics. Located at an old Taco Bell location from the 70’s.

So I have finally found a gem in Antioch. Its a dive but a gem none the less. Fronteras is located in old Antioch down East 18th next to Weinersnitchel in an old taco bell location. I had the most amazing Carne Asada and Pastor there. They have these tacos that are as authentic as you can get two small minidisk sized tortillas your meat of choice, cilantro, onions. This may seem like an easy thing to do but so many places can’t seem to do it right. They cook your meat only after you have ordered and once its done it comes piping hot to your table. They also have an amazing chili verde. To die for, it taste just like my grandma makes. By the looks of things its run by a husband and wife. Trust me on this one Unilocalers it is worth it to check out this place.
