I LOVETHISPLACE! The entire visit was nice and it is because the management and staff, are very good! The food is even better, personally, I like the Mauri’s Omelette and my Wife loves the Pancakes. The Ham and eggs is great too!

Took the family here the staff was very accommodating. The food was decent breakfast food nothing really stands out as great. The service was spotty but again was really not that bad. Just overall was an average place for breakfast and would go back.

I never write reviews but I felt that I needed to write a review on Mauri’s. I originally posted a long«descriptive» review but I am now editing it since it really isn’t in my nature to write bad reviews. I wish I would have read the other reviews about the service at Mauri’s because those reviews are«right on spot». The service is poor and very slow as mentioned in other reviews. In a nutshell, food was delivered quickly. The food was generous in portions and was good in quality with the exception of what I am about to describe… I am a single Dad raising 3 kids on my own so my kiddos ordered pancakes(which were exceptional). I started in on my own meal and everything was fine with the exception of the gravy on my biscuits. When I started my own meal the eggs were perfect, the bacon was OK, and the hash-browns were standard. But the gravy on my biscuits was ice cold and congealed. When the waitress FINALLY came around and I was able to mention my concern, she told me that it was my fault and that I had waited too long to eat my food. She then offered to «re-heat» my food so I politely declined. I did not want the kitchen to «re-heat» my food. No big deal at this point other than the blame being put on me for my food being cold. I asked for my bill and it took over 15 minutes to receive my bill. There were 5 tables being served in the entire restaurant with 3 waitresses serving those 5 tables. I went to pay for my food and the manager tried to charge me for my entire meal. Her reason was that I was offered for the food to be «re-heated». I told her that I did not want to pay for food that I did not eat and it was not acceptable for food to go back to the kitchen to be re-heated. I then offered to pay for the food that I did eat(eggs, bacon, and hash-browns… which I did not eat since I had lost my appetite after the poor treatment that I had received). After arguing with the manager she agreed to charge me for the food that I did eat. I still tipped the wait staff because I know they share the tips. After my original post on Unilocal,I received a post from the owner that I was a person that would«do anything to receive a free meal» when the fact is that I offered to pay for the food that I did eat, I just did not want to be charged for the food that was cold and that I did not eat. This amounted to about $ 3 on the bill. After everything was added up «a-la-carte» I had actually saved about $ 2(which I did not complain about). Never once did I receive an apology about the cold food that I received(from the waitress, manager, or owner) and I was also blamed for my own food being served cold to me(on more than one occasion). So not only was the service bad(and slow), I had to deal with the stress of being blamed for their mistake. I did not expect my food to be hot and I’ve never had this problem with other restaurants(my boys love Granny’s on Grass Lake Rd). All of my other food was not«ice cold» so I only mentioned the food that was«ice cold and congealed» but I was blamed for that. I would not be writing this review if a single person had actually said«sorry about that» because it is understandable. A simple apology from ANY of the people there would have satisfied me but to this date I am being blamed for everything. I was very polite in all of my responses to everyone and yet they are trying to make me feel guilty for the service and cold food. If you read the reviews on this place you will see many complaints about the service. Those complaints are real(and plentiful). I’m sure that plenty of people go here and have a great meal… the food is mostly good but the management is horrible if you have a problem and good luck with the timely delivery of your bill. If you want a 100% great experience with both food and service, then I would suggest Granny’s which is just a couple of miles down the road.

We visited there yesterday when we were looking for a place for breakfast in Antioch and saw mauri’s famous café and wondered if it was a good breakfast joint so we decided to go in and was very pleasantly surprised by the how good the food was and the large portions for surprisingly reasonably price. We are definitely planning on returning there often. We highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast. We are planning on trying there dinner sometime as well. I ordered a ½ pound cheeseburger meal and it came with fries and a cup of soup and the soup was amazing and the cheeseburger was outstanding and wasn’t a frozen pre made patty but a hand formed party cooked to the way I love it it. That taste was outstanding and my wife ordered the frenchtoast meal with 2 eggs and bacon and it was just as excellent and the syrup wasn’t the commercial watered down type but very thick and tasty like you use at home. We are looking forward to going back again ASAP.

Horrible! The service was extremely poor and my sandwich was gross. It’s not a good practice either when you hear the waitress talking about their ‘drama queen’ customers. We will not return.

No complaints. Fast friendly service, good food, big portions. Pumpkin pancakes are a breakfast side option and were very good. Huge menu. Will definitely be back.

Very poor service. Did not refill drinks, asked and waited 15 minutes, asked again and never got them. Tough to enjoy food with nothing to drink. Very average food anyway. Won’t be coming back.

Good… Huge portions, not bad pricing & decent breakfast food. Bad…Service, lack of organization, timing. They were operating as a restaurant that just opened, which is not the case. The service was awful, nobody knew who’s table was who’s; or had any idea as to what was going on. There was no order or organization which left it a complete chaos. The check system is a mess which meant several tables were waiting 30+ minutes after completing their meal to get their check. A customer waiting for a table started a wait list because the staff didn’t think to do that! I started writing this review while I was waiting for my check because I needed something to do with my time. They need to get the house in order!

Poor Vegas. Their not-so-competitive neighbor bit the dust, and now… well…Mauri’s in Antioch has only been open for a couple weeks, and they already need to expand their seating. We order takeout from Mauri’s in Mundelein sometimes, so I was excited to try it in their new location, walking distance from home. It’s just like Mundelein. The food is cheaper, better, and more plentiful than the«others». Including next door. I’ve eaten Mauri’s food many times, but never had the chance to eat it there. Overall, the service was a mess. It was slow. Very slow getting the check. They even lost it. Their system needs tweaking. It’s ok. They need some time to get their ducks in a row. I can’t wait to come back anyway.
