We hired Steve about 8 years ago. Not only did we have endless problems with him not returning calls, shotty grout work on our tile floor that is now crumbling, charging us extra for work they screwed up on and more… We just had our air ducts cleaned a few weeks ago and the worker found 2 separate ducts completely blocked with debris from the excess materials used for our tile floor that filled 2 grocery size plastic bags. Unbelievable!!! I cannot imagine why they we through their garbage down our air ducts instead of taking it away. Horrible!!! I wonder what that cost me in my heating and air conditioning bills for the last 8 years. Worst of all, he came recommended from Western Tile. Steer clear!

I hired Steve to do two jobs for me. The first was a backsplash for my kitchen. Fitting me in to his schedule took a little longer than I’d hoped but the job was completed quickly once started. There were a couple minor problems, one wall outlet opening was not set correctly to accommodate the outlet, and a few high tiles here and there. If Steve had come back to fix the outlet, I would have easily looked past the high tile concern. I subsequently had another contractor fix the outlet opening. I then had Steve bid on and selected him to do my kitchen floor and two small bathrooms. His pricing was reasonable, he’s horrible at communicating but a terribly nice guy and I thought his work on my backsplash was generally fine. I gave him a $ 200 deposit for the floor work in August. Due to his backlog, we were scheduled to start my floor just after Labor Day. We then experienced 2 or 3 delays leading up to the day before he was supposed to begin and I received an email from him advising he’d injured himself and didn’t know when he’d be able to do the job. I tried contacting him several times and could not get a response; so after a month, hired another tile setter — trying one more time to reach Steve before hiring some one else. I sent Steve an email requesting he return my deposit. He responded to that mail and said he would shortly get a check sent back to me. This was a couple weeks ago and no check has arrived. I tried emailing him again with no response. I called him and again ended up in his voice mail. Very frustrated with this lack of professionalism. 1÷1÷2015 ** UPDATE I sent another email after writing my original review letting Steve know how disappointed I was in his failure to follow through with his continual commitments to return my deposit acknowledging I have little recourse other than this review and letting the contractors who’d originally given me his name, know of the outcome of this project. I quickly received a response from his wife Jenny who was offended by the language I used, said she didn’t know she was to send a check to me but told me she would before the end of the year and implored me not to «harm» them because I was angry. I wrote back to her straightaway and thanked her for her prompt response and offered her a bit more context in hopes she could appreciate my perspective in this matter. Generalization here: I don’t understand how most contractors view Customer Service. If I treated customers the way contractors seem to treat their clients, I’d be sure to lose my job! End of the story, I still haven’t received a refund from the Harrisons. If I do, I’ll update the review again.

And I have to add our own sorry experience to the conversation. After many phone calls and missed appointments(Steve was a no-show on at least two occasions), he simply never finished the job. We ended up sealing the grout ourselves. Find another tile contractor — you can do better!

Sadly, we had the same experience as Rene S. Steve did tile in our foyer and our front porch. The workmanship appeared to be reasonable good. Six months after installation, some of the porch tiles cracked due to inadequate mortar. After over a year of communication, it took an ultimatum to get him back. The«repair» included leaving spacers between the supported bricks. He has never come back to finish the job. I really dislike leaving such a negative review but«buyer beware».
