I wish Aptos had a legit food truck! This place just doesn’t cut it. Low quality food with an overall lack of caring from the owner. I’ve been very disappointed three times, and will never go back.

Hot dog was cold. Runned my lunch. Shasta canned cola? What’s up with that? The only reason you are serving a 3rd rate cola is because of the low cost of the cola that increases your profit. It’s not about serving the customer what they want like Pepsi or Diet Coke. Will not stop and eat here again.

This place is amazing! The standard dog is probably one of the best dogs I’ve had in California. The staff is friendly, and all of the condiments are fresh. Everything I have have tried at Lucys was excellent and served quickly!

Seriously the best chili cheese dog I’ve had in the Aptos/​Santa Cruz/​Soquel area. The owner is super casual and really friendly. I’m super happy this place exists.

Been here several times. The all-​beef hotdog is excellent; great flavor and juicy! I did try the grass-​fed dog. I can taste the difference and I prefer the other beef dog. I usually get a dog to-​go too,
He has tamales. They are very good. I tried the pork. It had just the right amount of masa, which had good flavor. The meat inside was tender, no fat and tasty. It was too hot for me. I don’t like any heat. Others would probably enjoy the spice.

Alas, Lucy is now gone. :-(

Have eaten here a couple of times on the way back from Nicenes… ok dogs, but not great. As far as service, they need a PR lesson or training. Not sure who Lucy is, but there is an older gentlemen that took our order. In short – a jerk! Will not go back…

There are barley any descent fast food joints around here.

There’s not much room to sit and enjoy the food, but it’s worth giving it a try. Food is very good, many cool ideas and creations. Owner is a really cool dude, very social, and that is huge in my book. Tried the chili dog. Better than average, but not the best. If I were back visiting I’d definitely stop by again.

An undiscoved gem of a place!
The owner– Damon– is a former executive chef who whips some great creations. He definitely thinks «out of the bun” — things like The Southern Dog (cole slaw and barbecue sauce) or a hot dog with a crisp piece of bacon on top.
Try the Pulled Pork sandwich– it might change your life!
Plus– you get to pet Lucy, an old mutt that Damon adopted from the pound

Checked this place out based on the reviews and the fact that we needed to grab a quick bite on our way out of town. It is a trailer in the parking lot with a few plastic chairs under a portable awning right next to it. Lucy (a slightly over-​weight black lab) was laying in the shade and did lift her head to give us a greeting! The owner said he’s been here for four years — that’s a long time to be sitting in a parking lot in a trailer!
I had a chili dog which hit the spot. The bun was soft and fresh, but did not fall apart. The chili was average (like good canned chili), which is the only reason for not giving 5 stars. I will definitely go here again, and would recommend it, for what it is.

Great hot dog stand. I was expecting the usual when I went there, and was pleasantly surprised by a very creative menu, and high quality of product. A big step up from the usual stand you find in front of Home Depot or on the city street downtown.

I absolutely love Lucy (the dog) and this little hot dog joint. I usually get the organic thing with sauerkraut and mustard… mmmmmm oh ya. Everything is seems to be done right without making things weird.
Best hot dogs in Santa Cruz county I think, although I still haven’t tried that new stand on the west side. Thanks Lucy’s for keeping Santa Cruz weird.

I am so ecstatic that I found this place! The hot dogs are soooooo good– and so are the buns. I’m really picky about my dogs… I usually only eat the «Kosher» kind… but these are great. He buys all of his meat at the Corralitos Meat Market (that should tell you a lot).
The man that owns and runs it is SUPER friendly. I love giving him business.

Great quality product, prepared perfectly every time. I loved the mustard & relish dog and, as I recall, you used to always keep some veggie burgers on hand for the rogue animal protein boycotter – thank you!

Great hot dogs! I like the chili dog and I am very picky about chili dogs.
This place does hog dogs and sausages and does them well. It has been at this location since 2009.
