Moon Doggies

Tried this place out on labour day weekend. I did not think the hot dogs would be microwaved. Disgusting, no wonder why it’s cheap. Hot dog, chips & pop for $ 5.

New owner that just opened today. Great variety — beef, turkey, hot links, chicken & apple, and veggie. Best deal was the kids’ meal. $ 5 for a dog, drink, chips, all in a sand bucket with shovel. Most places charge $ 5 just for the bucket!
Owner was awesome and super friendly. Beef dog was HUGE and the turkey was tasty.
Will definitely be back!

Went to Capitola today, we were really excited to try out moon doggies for lunch, walked over to find they were closed on a Saturday afternoon! Whaaaaatttt?! Who does that!!? I’d still give them a try if they’re open next time we go but for now a restaurant business that closes it’s doors on a prime time day like Saturday at lunch hour gets 1 star by me.

An inexpensive lunch for my little one after I ran from the Santa Cruz Wharf to the Capitola Wharf; I wanted to see how the run will be for Wharf to Wharf.
Unlike the wharf in San Francisco, there’s not much to do on the wharf. There is one restaurant, one store (snacks, fish bait, misc. items), and this very hot dog stand. Since I know he was hungry and I actually was carrying cash, the decision to stop here was automatic.
I did not taste his lunch but there were no complaints on his side. He finished about 60% of his hot dog and 30% of his bag of chips. His basic hot dog is $ 2.99 but I added a bag of chips and a drink for a dollar more.
Cash only. Friendly service. Cheap.

I love me some Moon Doggies. The dogs are awesome and the shaved ice is only better in Hawaii. Kelli and Dave are rad. Be sure to make their shop a stop when in the Village!

I Love Moon Doggies! I am now a regular! I love a Jumbo DoG, with Cream Cheese, Ketchup, onions, and french onions! SOOOOO GOOD! The owners are the nicest people you will meet. They are both genuinely kind hearted folks. Moon Doggies is just what the village needed.

Shaved ice is one of my all time favorite things. Hell, so is plain ice. But ice with sugary flavoring doused on top? Sold!
I ordered the Tiger’s Blood flavor, which I was told is a mix of cherry, coconut and watermelon. Nope, pretty much just straight cherry. Wasn’t horrible, wasn’t great. Would recommend trying a different flavor. The people working here seemed really nice and next time I’m in town I will be sure to give it another shot.

Also the shaved ice was huge and amazing.
