El Toro Bravo

Ordered a burrito to go and was so dissapointed. I paid 9.50 for a burrito that wasn’t Even rapped so it was basically a ton of beans cheese rice and chicken with a tortilla over it. The waitress told me to wait outside even though the entire restaurant was empty and it was cold outside. Overpriced and dissapointing.

Biggest dump I have ever been to. Didn’t even get to eat due to the horrendous service. Large woman and an elderly man that both could not or did not want to serve us for some reason. Would not even take our order. What a pathetic excuse of a restaurant. Would never eat or recommend this place to anyone. Absolute garbage employees. Doesn’t deserve any stars but one is the lowest so that’s what they get.

Back when my son was about 3 months old, me, him, and his dad went here in hopes of having a nice lunch together. But man were we wrong, right when we walked in we were not greeted and when we were they made it sound like it was an in convince to them. We also got not so friendly looks from what I assume was the host and servers as I was holding my baby. I asked for a plain burrito and I got something completely different. We then decided to go home before we finalized eating we tried to ask for a box but had gotten ignored and when we finally got one they seemed to be more upset with is. I just don’t like eating at a place where I feel like an I convince to them and get dirty looks. I’m sorry I will not be coming back anytime soon. :(

I don’t like to bash but, this place did not make my list of «spots» I will not be returning

My favorite Mexican restaurant hands down! The enchilada sauce is the best ever!!! my family and i have been coming here since i was a kid and won’t stop… ever. Parking can be a hassle since it’s in the Capitola Village and has one way beach traffic, but that doesn’t stop us :)

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. It’s better than 3 and not quite 4:

Ground beef is a little bland, but just load it up with that killer salsa!

Hands down one of the best enchiladas I’ve ever tasted. Old family recipes are for real like the 808 kick drum is to hip hop, haha.

This was our first time eating here, and we found the food to be very good, the service was great and prices were reasonable. Not a fancy place, but it is in a great location. Will definitely be back!

I have been here a couple of times at dinner. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with all rice. The sauce on the enchiladas is very good with a lot of flavor but it still tastes very clean. I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in the Capitola/​Santa Cruz area.

I came down to Capitola this past Sunday, and tried El Toro Bravo for the first time. It’s now one of my top 5 mexican restaurants in California. I have tried many mexican restaurants in my 29 years of life, and this tops many! The enchiladas are to die for and everyone who helped us was beyond helpful. I will be back!

We found this place by accident. Were kinda craving Mexican but we had our pups. so our options were pretty limited.
They don’t have an outdoor patio but there are benches right outside with a little grass area.
The food was DELISH & they Packed it! So yum!

Excellent chicken nachos! Served with real cheddar cheese, shredded chicken, tomatoes, refried beans, sour cream and guacamole. Ordered them to-​go and my husband and I ate them picnic-​style while sitting on a bench overlooking the beach. Our order was served to me quickly, came with plenty of napkins, forks, and was packaged neatly.
Friendly service, too.

Save yourselves… My girlfriend had a disgusted look on her face when taking her first bite of fish taco. She can be high maintenance, so I decided to try a bite… And i literally started gagging. Also, Guac is horrible and enchiladas tasted like nothing.

Took my 16 year old, football playing son here for dinner. Got seated right away with menus, chips & salsa. Ordered a taco & enchilada plate, my son ordered 2 chicken enchiladas, we also ordered chips & guac. The waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Food came quickly and hot. The flavors were perfect, I could onlu eat about a third of mine while my son polished his off. Would definitely go back

The service was slow even wi th empty house. The food has no flavor. Thos was disappointing considering the Unilocal stars. I have had much better food. We won’t come back here.

Guac out of a can is not true authentic Mexican. Food was really shitty & none of us finished our food.

Delicious!!! I would have taken a picture but as soon as they set it down I dug right in! I haven’t had a cheese enchilada this good in a long time!

This was my worst Mexican Caritas I have ever had. Zero flavor, cheap meat, absolutely gross. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is that my wife said hers was OK. I will not be back.

Delish Mexican food for a good price and walking distance to the beach. We were walking around looking for dinner and one of the taqurias had closed, thank goodness El Toro Bravo’s open sign was still on. The people working here are very chill. I don’t really hang in Capitola, only because parking is so hard, but if I find the energy, I’d come back here to eat again.
In summary, this is a kick back restaurant. No fancy bells and whistles. Just some really good mexcian food and great service.

The cheese enchiladas and chicken tacos were very good. The flavor of the sauce on the enchiladas was excellent. I have never eaten there before and thought I would give it a shot. I read previous Unilocal reviews and thought why not. It was cool out and wanted some Mexican food. Waitress was good and food was delivered in a timely manner. I wanted to try the fried ice cream, but was just too full. Next time for sure.
