I’ve been coming here for years, and hope to continue to go for years to come. Good home style cooking, friendly service, and no huge upgrades in interior to disguise the fact that this diner has been here for a long time. My favorite breakfast spot.

Great old fashioned diner with fresh roast turkey breast for their sandwiches. Used to go to a long-ago-closed location, and pleasantly surprised to find this! They even still have liver and onions on the menu, which I used to get long before it fell out of fashion. Friendly service, great food, very reasonable prices. It’s about 35 miles from home, but I’ll come back, even if it’s out of the way. Entrees come with soup or salad, and even«light desert»(ice cream or tapioca pudding).

I was there a few times. Today I park my car on Huntington St. after eating a meal I was picked up by a friend. When I return few hours later I see a ticket on my windshield. I knew it was people from the restaurant called the police, because my friends used to work next door had the same thing happened to them. Be careful, these people will turn back on their customers, even their loyal customers.

Nice clean and good service restaurant. The chorizo breakfast was good. Really enjoyed the waffles, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Prices were decent and had a good amount of choices on the menu. Will definitely come back.

Meh… Undercooked fries, fairly slow(but friendly) service, small portions, and fairly run-down. Some might call that«cute», sure. But it’s cute in the same way a really old couple on TV is cute. Yeah, it’s charming, but you probably don’t want to spend your afternoon hanging out with them at the geriatric care center. Let’s be real here: chain diners like Denny’s or IHOP easily beat this place, because they’ve at least feigned an attempt to stay modern with new menu items, larger portions for our ever-expanding waistlines, etc.

Great place! Menudo is better than all the Mexican restaurants in Monrovia and Arcadia and probably the entire SGV.

This place is ten times better than Denny’s. The service is excellent and the food is great! My new go to breakfast spot in Arcadia!

We love trying various diner’s. We never have tried this one in Arcadia. We headed over at about 12:30 on a Sunday. The restaurant was about half full and there was plenty of street parking nearby.(I believe they also had a fairly sizable lot on the side of the building) We were promptly seated. The service was pretty good. One of us ordered the Guacamole Chorizo burger with onion rings and the other one ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo. We both thought that our food was about a 8/10, which is very good! The only reason for a drop in the star rating was the cleanliness. Coffee cup had several definite lipstick stains. I am not sure if it wasn’t cleaned well enough, or it is just time for new cups. Not sure. Also, it was sunny and bright, so you could definitely see the large spiderwebs in the corners of the ceiling. Cleanliness needs improvement — Food is good. I would return again in the future, maybe just not right away.

Breakfast for old folks. Cold pancakes with butter and syrup at room temperature? You’ve got to be kidding! Friendly service, very quick, lots of smiles, my coffee was never empty for long. Lack of fun, healthy alternatives like avocado toast leads me to wonder… What is Rod going to do when all his loyal clientele are finished DYING?

Been coming here for years. Service is always fast and courteous. Décor is retro 70s diner with teal colored chairs and wood paneling. Food is good. Typical steak and eggs, waffles etc. Lots of locals come here since it’s been here forever. Nice place to go after church on Sundays for a family breakfast.

I ate dinner at Rod’s Grill in Arcadia, CA on 9÷28÷2015. I’ve eaten there many times before. This time I had their beef dip. Good food and good service with ‘50s music playing in the background. Plus, I took photos.

This diner is like a blast from the past. Fun oldies music on the back ground, total retro green/blue booths. Servers are always nice and friendly. Portions are good size. My son loves their fluffy pancakes. The strawberry milkshake is absolutely delicious. My husband and I almost always end up getting the ½ combo which is half sandwich and soup or salad. I like the albacore tuna, my husband likes their egg salad sandwich. Today I had clam chowder soup and my husband had the vegetable soup. They’re both good, not salty at all which I find in most restaurant soups. We appreciate the old black & white pictures up on the wall the most. We get to see what Arcadia looked like way back when the roads weren’t even paved yet. And the cash register up front is also antique which is very unique to see now-a-days. When you first walk in, it feels dated and old, but as you sit in the booths and relax, get to talk with the servers or the people in the neighboring booths, it begins to feel homey and like a small close community. I hope Rods stay here for a hundred years more!

Food was good. Total retro diner. Service was quick and staff was friendly. It’s a nice experience for breakfast with the family. Lots of historical local pictures decorate the restaurant. They still use old school bill checks! Cool place.

I stopped in the other morning for breakfast, and I ordered the country fried steak and eggs with a coffee. The country fried steak tasted terrible and was probably as old as the cook who made it. I ordered the eggs over medium, which means, slightly runny yoke, and firm white part of the egg. The egg came out with a extremely runny yoke and a slimy white part. I could not even finish the eggs. On a up note, the coffee was excellent. After that experience, I don’t think that I will be going back anytime soon.

Everything my family and I had here was excellent! Our waitress was just as sweet as could be, refilled my coffee every few minutes without prompting. My omelet was five-star, filled to the brim with all the fillings I wanted, fluffy eggs cooked perfectly! The coffee was not typical watery diner coffee; very strong-brewed and full-bodied flavor. And if you can, try the homemade zucchini bread; it is sweet, soft, thick and delicious! Not what I expected from a bread with a vegetable in it! My dad had the chorizo and eggs, and they were just as delicious as we make them in Texas. The chocolate malt was also perfect — thick, creamy, and sweet. Absolutely perfect treat for a hot day. Will come here again before we leave town, definitely!

LOVE this place. From the fabulous vintage Aqua booths to the atomic age lamps, this place is delightfully original.(Including 1950s music playing lightly in the background). Great omelettes, decent French toast and fluffy pancakes. Lots of local regulars and friendly staff. Every time we go, we leave fat and happy. The coffee is diner coffee… The toast crunchy and buttery. One of our go to breakfast spots.

Rod’s is one of those places where you always know you’re going to get a plateful of comfort food served with a smile. It’s been here forever and there’s a good reason for that. Conveniently located near several hotels and close to the Santa Anita Racetrack.

Was in the mood for some all American home cooking. Drove around arcadia and found this gem! Loved the country fried steak. And everything is truly a blast from the past. Friendly first name service and they seemed to know everyone… how cute. A small family owned business I would support again.

I love how cute this diner is. I came in the other day while I was waiting for my car to be serviced and ordered the breakfast burrito. The burrito was HUGE! The ingredients were really fresh, and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was really friendly and it was fun watching the regulars stroll in.
