Popped in here for my last meal… actually it’s not that bad… it was my last meal before oral surgery. I called because I wanted a burger more than anything, Some people do breakfast for dinner, I prefer dinner for breakfast. The guy who picked up the phone was friendly and accommodating assuring me that in fact yes they could give me a burger for breakfast. SWEET!!! Ashley was my waitress, she was great at her job, she was quick to refill my drink and basket of fries even though she had a lot of tables. She knew the menu inside and out, even helped me pick a burger when I was stuck between two that looked great. I got the tex mex burger with green chilies, very tasty and cooked to order. Burgers come with free refills on fries good bonus although their fries are a little salty and on the skinny side for my taste but to each their own.

Disappointed with the food and not terribly impressed with the service. Pick somewhere else.

This is a very nice location. Like other ruby’s it is tiny with a cozy atmosphere. The food is always cooked to perfection and with refillable fries it’s impossible to leave hungry. If you haven’t tried it yet you’re missing out!

It’s a cool 50’s style burger joint, and it does it well. The burgers are very good and fresh, we tried the Hawaiian with grilled pineapple and the caliente which has jalapeño jack cheese, fresh salsa, jalapeño and guacamole, very good! Since we have a little one the build it yourself Shelby gt500 was a nice touch and the 2 trains running around the ceiling were nice. The service was friendly and quick, which was good since time is of the essence with a 2 year old!

Ew. I was desperate when I came here. There are so few dining options in Suburban Square. I was desperate when I decided on Ruby’s. The food was just awful. You can tell nothing was made fresh(wasn’t really expecting that), the fries were stale, and my chicken was slightly pink. The service wasn’t memorable. I’ll likely not return to this location or others.

Came here on Sunday as my friend lives in area and her car was being inspected. We came for breakfast. Promptly seated and ordered quickly. We liked our food: my friend ordered Huevos Rancheros, I ordered Portobello Mushroom Benedict and we split corned beef hash. I am only giving 4 stars because at a diner with bottomless coffee you expect wait staff to walk around for refills. This did not happen. I had to ask and only received one refill. I will come back when shopping at suburban square. Very clean, a cool train runs around on tracks above our heads. Nice staff and food is good.

Posted this to them via FB after my experience last night. Very disappointed in my visit last night… each time I come to your place it gets progressively worse. 1) Walked in @ 8:30 with my daughter, at least 5 people just looked at us, and had no interest in seating us. Finally, who I guess was the manager sat us after standing there and being ignored by everyone else. 2) Everybody seemed more interested in ‘breaking’ the place down so they could close and get out of there. 3) Ordered a burger w/the endless fries, asked for more fries at 8:55, was told the kitchen had close. Still had people in the restaurant eating, if your place is opened until 9 then the kitchen should be open until 9, or the waitress could have told us that the kitchen was closing and asked us we wanted anything else. I heard who i assumed was the manager ask what we wanted and she told him, ‘fries, but I told them the kitchen had closed’. As a manager don’t you think he should have came over and apologized or said something, we got nothing. I also noticed he took his register drawer and went to the back office to close out. I guess he didn’t want to deal w/it in the event i said something to him on my way out and I was going to. 4) The waitress asked us mid-meal if we wanted dessert because she wanted to ‘close her station’. I am not sure why she told us that but not about the kitchen closing. On a positive note the food was okay, fries were cold and overcooked, probably warmed up again in the fryer, failed attempt, how hard is it make a batch of new fries. I was asked before she gave me the check if i wanted anything else, i thought that was kind of funny, your kitchen is closed and i can’t have dessert, what could I possibly want. You(manager) and the staff made it pretty clear you wanted me not to come in there in the first place and to get out as soon as possible. $ 36 that I could have spent somewhere else and had a much better experience and been appreciated. I’ve been taking my daughters to your place for over 15 years, I will not be rushing back anytime soon. If you restaurant says its open until 9, be open until 9 or tell me before you seat me that service will be limited. Very very disappointed.

Today is Memorial Day an I didn’t cook on the grill so I figure if I wanted a burger I better get to rubys! The place was pretty empty which was cool cause I knew I wldnt have to wait for anything. I ordered the Super Ruby Burger minus the Avocado. It was good but a little dry probably from the cheese. My daughter ordered the hickory turkey burger. She had no complaints it went down easy. For dessert we had apple pie ala mode it was so good. I frequent Rubys often so it’s usually a good time.

One of my favorite place in suburban square. A great atmosphere of american’s diner and the food is very delicious(a bit disappointed about the grilled cheese which is pretty small though…). And BESTMILKSHAKESEVER !!!

I’ve been to a handful of Ruby’s in the past and I’ve always enjoyed their food. I was very disappointed by the food at this particular location. The server was great and very attentive which is a big plus. The food came to the table extremely fast which tells me that the burger wasn’t cooked to order. I ordered The Cobb burger and the beef patty was very chewy. I believe it had been precooked hours before and kept in water and when a customer orders a burger they throw it back on the grill just to heat it up. The sweet potato fries that I ordered with it were very good but I got just a handful which was surprising. The worst part of this meal was the Cole slaw. It was completely inedible. It was obviously old because it was sour and slimey. I actually had to spit it back into my napkin in fear of making myself sick. What a shame. I give this location 1 star because of the awesome shake I had and good service. I will never go to this location again. Clearly this Ruby’s location is managed very poorly otherwise it’s employees wouldn’t be producing such subpar food.

The service that we received was snippy and rude. We sat for a while before even getting offered water. There was hair in my coffee milkshake that tasted like vanilla. I will say my shrimp quesadilla was good, but not worth the horrible service from a high school staff. I would not recommend it, thank God I had a gift card, I won’t even use the second one.

I can’t believe I never wrote a review for this place! It was a few years ago when I visited, but I loved it. Great standard diner food, friendly staff. They even went looking for one of their logo sweatshirts that I wanted in my size and found it. I ESP loved the train that went around overhead! Great atmosphere and food.

I’ll list the good things first. The fries were good and the Chocolate Turtle Milkshake was really good and I’m normally not even a fan of milkshakes! Got one to share with my daughter. The food was fine, nothing spectacular. Now on the the rest. I went with my playgroup friends for the Tuesday kids eat for $ 1 deal. So there were a lot of us. And they seemed annoyed that we were there. If you’re going to have a deal, you’re going to have to expect people to take advantage of it. It was lunch time and not very crowded, so they had plenty of space for us. I had called ahead of time to confirm how the deal worked and was told I needed to order one adult entrée to receive the kids meal for $ 1. I ordered a burger meal and got my daughter chicken fingers and fries. The kids meals don’t include a drink, so we ordered the shake to share, like I said. The food was fine, service was lacking. Like I said there were a lot of us seated together so out server was busy, so I gave her the benefit. At the end of the meal I was charged full price for the kids meal because I hadn’t ordered the combo. Which was news to me. So they added a salad and charged me another dollar. But they had to do this with almost all of our separate checks and our server was not happy about that, but I don’t feel as though that is our fault. To make a long story short, I will not be going again. Overpriced mediocre food who don’t seem to enjoy people taking advantage of the deals they have. Not worth it in the long run.

I came here with my boyfriend while we were shopping in Suburban Square. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. It has a super cute, retro diner theme – the employees even dress to fit the times! Even though it was really crowded and a few larger parties were waiting outside, we were seated immediately, which was nice. Our waiter was very thoughtful. He stopped at our table several times to check on us. Both of the burgers we ordered were awesome! They were super juicy, and(almost) too big to finish. I loved the onion rings as well. To finish, we split one of their famous milkshakes and it was scrumptious. There are so many flavors to choose from! The only reason I’m deducting a star is because the environment feels very cramped. The booths are small and the restaurant is already pretty small, complete with lots of little children yelling and making noise. I’ll be back, but only for a late lunch when the chaos has settled a bit.

I found out about this Ruby’s location via Unilocal(Thanks Unilocal!). I was so happy that my husband and I were able to find a kid-friendly spot near our home on a Friday night. We were babysitting our well-behaved 2 yr old twin nephews. Online they advertised a closing time of 10pm. However, when we arrived there(at 8:15pm), the sign on the door said 9. Firstly, you can tell that we don’t have children considering that we were out with 2 year olds after 8 on a Friday night. What were we thinking? I thought the staff might scoff at us for showing up near closing time, but they greeted us with smiles and seated us promptly. The place was exceptionally bright and clean, and our server was friendly but not overly so. The boys really enjoyed the train on the track that hovers overhead, and goes around the perimeter of the restaurant. We ordered Chicken tenders, french fries, and apple slices for the boys. I was so happy that Ruby’s offered fruit… and I was even more pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be more than just apples. They devoured the fruit and a few fries and then quickly turned their attention to what I was eating… a tuna melt, fries and a turtle milkshake! What 2 year olds prefer a tuna melt over chicken tenders??? Well, they ate the tuna melt and drank half of my shake. I ate the chicken tenders(which weren’t nearly as good but oh well — anything for the kiddies). My husband also enjoyed his Hickory Burger and 50⁄50 milkshake. With or without kids, we’ll be back!

I liked the atmosphere and the milk shakes were SO good. The food was just ok as far as quality and I liked it enough(but it caused major stomach upset for my BF). So much so that sometimes I’ll «threaten» him that I’m going to make him eat at Ruby’s again ! Muhahah ! Ok that’s cruel. But I liked the food and he did too until he felt sick. Good place for kids /families /teenagers. The service was good but I guess I won’t be back unless I come alone.

After walking by this place for almost six years, I finally stopped in! I had brunch on a quiet, slow Sunday morning. I enjoyed my Garden Benedict entrée. I could have done without the home fries since there are peppers mixed in. I couldn’t come here without trying a shake! My friend and I split the Oreo(cookies and cream) shake. Our server was kind enough to bring two glasses and two servings of whipped cream with a cherry on top! I understand the how this place draws so many kids here. They have the running train on the ceiling and a cute diner feel to it. I’m glad Ruby’s Diner isn’t a greasy spoon type of diner.

Mix emotions here. I was slightly underwhelmed by the food. The burgers are decent but a bit on the skimpy side. I felt like getting the guac burger, but thought it could definitely use more guac. The fries are alright. So I guess overall the food is pretty good. Could be better, but not bad. I asked if they’d be able to throw a fried egg into the burger, but was very quickly shot down by the server. So I guess they don’t customize orders. No biggie though, won’t hold that against them. The milkshakes, however, I thought were delicious. Definitely get one with your meal. Also, there’s a Thomas the tank engine train that drives around the elevated tracks around the diner. One of its eyes is broken. It’s hilarious-looking.

If you are a parent, and you want a place to take your kids with a decent kids menu and enough noise to drown out even the most bored of toddlers, bump my review up to 5 stars and head on over to Ruby’s in Ardmore. Just bring something for the kids to do while you wait for a table… because if the huge line at 3 pm on a Sunday was indicative of how busy this place is, you are going to wait. Decent burgers, though for $ 9, you would think they would ask how I want it cooked… Good veggie options, as every burger can be substituted with a garden burger. Shakes are think and delicious. Floor was a little sticky and waitress was a little bored. This is not a date night spot if you are over 18, or are not amused by a train circling the ceiling of the diner.

I just stopped by here today because my friend and I went shopping after work and was hungry. The place is cute and there was a 1cent candy machine. Our waitress was friendly but there were other ones that were standing around that kept looking at us. O. O I had a Hickory Burger and Spicy Jalapeño Jack Cheese Sticks. Both were pretty good but sooooo filling. The onion rings in my burger were really greasy. I couldn’t finish either things I got so I took them home. Overall, I’d eat there again but not often.
