Horrible foods, horrible service. And food is not great at all! And there are hair in the food and I show it to them I say there is hair but refuse to re make it. And the food I have is undercooked that make me sick the next day.

Approaching the Sichuan Wok one might get the impression that the Chinese restaurant operates out of a single-family home. there’s a good reason for that. It does operate out of single-family home. Whenever I visit the Sichuan Wok I somehow imagine a film taking place here. In the film, two Americans walk in and order Mexican taco salads. I have no idea why that is, but maybe it’s because I’m a recovering filmmaker. Inside the restaurant one gets impression it’s a bit like C-3PO before Luke Skywalker cleaned up the golden droid: it’s really not much to look at. Yet the food is pretty decent. There’s sitting upstairs(as well as downstairs), but I rarely go to the second floor, and neither does anybody else except to go to the bathroom. The lights were out on the second floor when I went to the bathroom there tonight. People typically don’t dine in, opting for takeout instead. Tonight like everybody else, I got takeout too. Specifically I got a pint of egg drop soup and their Sichuan chicken. the Sichuan Wok is not the Little Inn at Washington but the food is decent. I give it 2 ½ fortune cookies.

Decent food here. I’ve tried a few of their entrees and wasn’t disappointed. Their service is very efficient.

Every time I go here I feel like I pay more than it’s worth and when I go back I always wonder why I went back. I order steamed beef and broccoli because I can’t have gluten and can’t eat soy sauce. Because I have to order the beef and broccoli WITHOUT the sauce they charge me $ 1.50 extra.

I only go here sometimes because it’s right on my block. The hot and sour soup tastes pretty good. The two dishes I usually get are singapore noodles and general tso’s chicken. The chicken however is usually pretty poor quality. Two dishes I usually love, chicken with cashews and kung pao chicken are ruined with way too many undercooked carrots and gross water chestnuts and not enough nuts. The customer service is awful.

I used to love this place until the«Lo mein incident». I was dating this girl and we decided to stay in on friday and do the takeout w/netflix thing. She said she really wanted some shrimp lo mein and I informed her of this place. I ordered one lo mein and one beef w/broccoli. I brought the food back and, much to her disappointment, there was no lo mein in her container. Instead, it a shrimp dish with veggies. It was chow mein. I brought it back and told them they gave me chow mein instead of lo mein. The lady shook her head and said, «no, no, this is lo mein». I stood there with one eyebrow raised. In my mind I was like, «woman, I know wtf the difference between chow mein and lo mein is, I’ve lived in a freaking dorm before!» I wasn’t about to go back to that girl empty handed so I just ordered the«chow mein», er… noodles and went back and finished the evening. We literally googled lo mein to make sure I wasn’t out of my mind. I haven’t quite forgiven them since that incident. Bad food is one thing, but don’t start messing with a player’s chances with a girl when it’s primetime game on, baby!

Ordered crispy pepper salt shrimp… menu describes it as : Whole Jumbo Shrimp in Salt, Deep Fried and Cooked w. Pepper Salt beware, shrimp has head, feet, veins the whole bit… it does say«whole» but it tastes terrible.

I ordered on a whim with my coworkers for lunch… NEVERAGAIN! I feel ripped off. I ordered the Beef Chow Mein. Mein in Chinese means noodles… but there were NO noodles! It was a very bland and watery combination of beef, shredded cabbage, carrots and celery. That came with a side of rice.

Great Chinese, but be wary of ordering delivery. I made the mistake of paying with cash for $ 36 order with a $ 50. The delivery guy said he didn’t have any change as he put his hand in is pocket(looking like he was gripping a wad of cash). *What delivery guy doesn’t have change? Especially, after I specified it was a cash order* Lesson learned: Always pay with a credit card.

OK at best, inedible at worst. We ordered delivery online — hot and sour soup, chow mein and chicken with string beans. Hot and sour soup was as expected. It’s a big portion for a low price, and it comes with lots of tofu and is spicy. The chicken with green beans was also fine, though we ordered spicy and it was quite mild. The chicken pieces were pretty small and not very flavorful. I’d probably have preferred just an order of the green beans sans chicken. The chow mein was the big disappointment, in several ways. First, I’m used to chow mein being a noodle dish, but here it’s not. It’s meat with cabbage in a thick sauce. I thought we got the wrong order, but when we called, the person on the phone explained that the dish doesn’t have noodles. He asked if we saw the pictures, but there aren’t photos of the dishes when you order online. OK, fine. But more problematic than the disappointment of not getting the noodles I was craving, was that the dish was awful. The meat was dry(I don’t remember if I ordered pork of chicken, and I definitely couldn’t tell which it was even as I tried to eat it) and chewy. The sauce was like a thick, gooey chicken broth. I had a few bites then threw it away. I hate wasting food, but I just couldn’t eat it.

I have ordered carry out from here several times because it is close to work. It’s cheap, decent chinese food. I don’t expect a lot from chinese carry out, but as far as chinese carry outs go, this one is slightly above average.

1. This is not a gourmet restaurant. I don’t know why why people are expecting the most authentic Chinese food ever. This place is perfect for massive amounts of food for cheap. It’s *perfect* comfort Chinese food; not über-authentic Chinese food with white linen dining… So If you want to stuff your face with Singapore Noodles and Beef Dumplings while binge watching Netflix(Because who wants to watch Peaky Blinders on an empty stomach?) in your sweatpants not caring who judges you, this place is for you. 2. This place probably thinks I’m the laziest person in the world because I order delivery from two blocks away.(Sorry!) But they are timely and they get everything right… 98% of the time. I love the food so much that I can forgive them for the last 2% of tiny mistakes. I need to start learning the delivery guys’ names… 3. Ordering advice… ALWAYS get the Singapore Rice Noodles. I prefer the combination style myself, but any meat/veggie mixture is deeeeeeelicious. Being from the Midwest I’m very much a steak ‘n potatoes kind of gal, so I don’t do spicy. But the Signapore Noodles have a nice little kick to it that I love. My Nepalese roommate recommends the hot sauce for anyone with a spicier pallet than mine. I love that when you order online you’re given the option for extra meet or extra veggies for an additional cost. The extra veggies help me feel slightly less guilty about the amount of food I shovel into my mouth. The won-ton soup is another one of my staples. Their dumplings are perfect, steamed or fried. Bottom line, this is a perfect«I’m too lazy to cook/My friends and I are just hanging out but we’re hungry and want a lot of food/I want leftovers for lunch tomorrow» restaurant. I thoroughly enjoy and will continue my average order rate of once a week :)

The perfect takeout food. Nuff said. P. S. My order includes Singapore Noodles, any kind of fried rice and wonton soup… they don’t skimp on the veggies either, which is nice. :-)

How disappointing. To start, the food is actually one of the best around. That’s not really saying much though. The soups are pretty bland and the ribs can be on the thin side at times, but all in all, I’d give it three stars in the food department. So they get an average of two stars because they’re a bunch of liars. I ordered beef egg rolls(boyfriend sitting right next to me) and I’m delivered shrimp rolls. I asked for extra duck sauce and mustard, am told«yeah I got you»(weird, I know). I’m delivered three packets of soy sauce. Not the end of the world with the spring rolls but they are a repeat offender in promising sauce and not delivering any at all. Not to mention, last time we placed an $ 80 order for my whole family and they conveniently forgot to put the most expensive items, the ribs, in our bag. So now boyfriend is pretty mad and he decides to call. Well, I guess he got the same guy on the phone as I did because he definitely remembered me. He told my boyfriend that I insisted on vegetable rolls. This was after he had to ask his colleagues if it was ok if I got the beef rolls. By the way, did I mention my boyfriend was sitting right next to me when I ordered? So how do I know he’s a dishonest person? Got shrimp rolls. Yup. He was adamant about the fact that I INSISTED on vegetable rolls so that’s what he made sure I got. But then he gave me shrimp rolls. Hmmm. Sketch ball. Moral to the story, check your entire order before you either pick it up, or let the delivery guy leave. Don’t let their impatience intimidate you. They can be very pushy.

Decent food and large portions and it’s right across the street from home. The menu does offer a variety of certain special«szechuan» dishes that you can’t find at every corner, so that was a plus. Can’t remember the name anymore, but they had this extra spicy white fish soup dish that was spicy, indeed. However, it was a little too spicy to my liking that I could barely eat it. Maybe someone just got heavy with the spices that day. They had a delicious roasted eggplant dish that made up for it though! The general tso’s chicken was decent. Nothing spectacular, but it’ll suffice if you’re craving it. It was just the right amount of «spice» for me. The cashew chicken was also good. It was actually pretty tasty! I would recommend giving that dish a try. As for all the dishes, whether you dine in or take out — the reviews are on point… they give you very generous portions. Price-wise, you definitely get more than you pay for. Quality-wise, it’s not the best, but it’s quick and decent and great for carry-out. My boyfriend and I have called-in orders before and also ordered online and never had a problem. Food is usually ready for pick-up within 15 – 20 minutes.

Not sure how the food is, because I pre-paid online, including tip, the delivery driver apparently went to the wrong address(most likely leaving the food on the front stoop) and refused to give me a refund. If you want to try this place, make sure you don’t pay until you get the food, and have a TV dinner on hand in case they decide not to come. All I can comment on is their a joke of a business, because they stole my money without giving me any food to review.

I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special, spicy w/hot n sour soup and fried rice– but was again disappointed with this place. 1– I asked if I could add broccoli, and the lady said it came with broccoli– ok good. Well, only 3 pieces. If someone asks for more veggie, you’d think they’d ask if i wanted to still add more veggies! 2– the«fried rice» was not fried at all, it looked and tasted like it was right out of the steamer– adding a bit of egg doesn’t make it fried rice! Interesting that a Chinese takeout place struggles with a basic lunch special. Oh well, back to my traditional places up the road. The good: the hot and sour soup was good and they actually made the sesame chicken spicy as requested.

I returned. It took me almost two years for it to happen, but hey, the things you’ll do for friends. This time I got the chicken fried rice. I felt it was bland and lacked flavor. The«small» portion is enough to feed a small village, so I can’t imagine what the large portion would feed. With taxes my meal costs $ 6.50. My friends got their lunch specials that comes with soup and fried rolls in addition to their entrees for just a couple of bucks more. They enjoyed their food. One component they were boasting about is how fresh the vegetables were that they used. I wouldn’t come out of my way to come here, but for those in Ballston that want cheap and huge quantity — this is the place to come. Bonus points for having a patio and upstairs seating.
