I had dinner here maybe.3 weeks ago. I sat at the bar looked the menu over and started with a bowl of cream of crab soup… Because I luvs my cream of crab. I could tell it was microwaved cause it was not quite as warm in the center as the outside. Next time pour it into another bowl guys.(I know, I worked in the business) It tasted good, a bit too much old bay for me. About 10 minutes later my chicken quesadilla arrived. It looked and tasted great. Chockfull of chicken breast and cheese. I did sample the Guinness wings too, quiet tasty. Griffin’s serves up decent bar food at reasonable prices with good service.

I’ve gone to Griffin’s for about 3 years now, and it’s my default place when I just want to get out of the house, have some great food, a cold drink, and some good company. No, it’s not fine dining. But it’s some of the best bar food I’ve ever had anywhere. Their fries are amazing(but I recommend dipping them in bleu cheese instead of ketchup), they have the best cream of crab soup I’ve ever tasted, and I’m a big fan of the«Sticky Guinness» wings. Honestly, I’ve never had anything there that I didn’t like. They have happy hour every day til 7, and daily specials as well. As several others have said, Thursdays can get a bit crazy due to trivia, so if you’re planning to go on a Thursday, you may want to call ahead or get there by 7:00(or after 10pm). There’s live music every weekend, with a nice variety from laid back acoustic performers to loud hard rocking bands. And with several TVs throughout, you’ll never miss a play in any of the big games. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because the staff seem to be inconsistent… some are excellent, quick with the service, and friendly. Others seem to be more interested in gossiping with the regulars or their co-workers than in taking care of their customers.

Trivia Night is awesome!!! $ 2 Miller Light drafts all night. The food is above average and the service is average. You will not find a better time on a Thursday night than Trivia at Grif’s. Make sure to call in a reservation, the trivia tables fill up fast.

If you want bar food, here you go. Want a neighborhood joint to watch the game they have you covered. Want fine dinning? Go somewhere else. This place is a fine place to grab some nachos, or wings, or burgers but leave it at that. They are starting to do some cool beers and events but that is just getting started so let’s see where it goes. I like this place, and if it is happy hour you will probably find me at the bar pounding some suds and soaking up the local flavor, or at least taking advantage of the happy hour grub! Check it out, you will only be disappointed if you expect too much.

Trivia Night is fantastic. I’ve been going there for a year now, and love the setup and time(not way too long or late like some I’ve been to). This is a review of Griffin’s though and every time we’ve gone the staff has been very nice and helpful. Occasionally you get a slightly slower server(down a star or two) but for the most part it’s been pretty good. Notching up another star is because of the food. You can get all their sandwiches but maybe two on a pretzel roll which as you know makes anything and everything better. Delicious. The nachos are also great — big portions and tasty.

Got a group of friends together for a night out somewhere different than our usual. What an unfortunate decision! We went out for Thursday Night Trivia and were met by a very unwelcoming, unaccommodating staff. All tables had been reserved by teams for trivia, not a single table was available for«walk-in» guests. I witnessed a few couples looking to just grab some dinner get turned away. Since this was our first time there we didn’t know the logistics of trivia night and didn’t have a reservation. We were shocked at the rude attitude we were given when we asked a worker for a table and were told nothing would be available until after 10pm. The trivia hosts and hostess witnessed our fiasco and ultimately found room for us to stay to join in the trivia. Needless to say, as trivia began more than half the tables were empty and remained empty due to no show teams.(what a great business practice!!) This is by no means any reflection on Charm City Trivia, who had an awesome staff out and were the ones that put in the effort to not see us walk out the door.

To say I was unimpressed with this establishment is an understatement. I went to Griffin’s Grill to attend their Thursday night Trivia. I was met with a half empty restaurant, and yet a nasty hostess told me that all of the tables had been previously«reserved.» By the time trivia started, most of the reserved tables were still empty, and remained empty for the rest of the night! It was absolutely ridiculous, exclusive, and unnecessary. I would have thoroughly enjoyed the Charm City Trivia had it not been for the rude Griffins Grill staff and this outlandish reservation policy. Two thumbs way down.

I grew up just down the road, since I’ve been 12 the location has been bought out 3 times, basically just changing the name, same food, same boring atmosphere. Then it became Griffins. They have really stepped up their game in the last few months. They totally redid the inside, knocked down walls, and extended the bar. The atmosphere is laid back but they do something EVERYNIGHT. Right now Tuesdays is 3 dollar tacos, and Build your own Burger Night Wednesday is Karaōke Thursday is Trivia Happy hour every single day until 7 which is nice commuting back home from Baltimore. They have specials on Pub Grub during Happy Hour and usually have 2 dollar Miller lights during all events. The food is phenomenal, sure its traditional bar food but with a twist. Their fries are amazing, Salmon BLT, French Dip, Nachos, Wings, its all great and trust me I’ve had it all! Everyone there is friendly and I always have a great time! They usually have live music/dj Fri & Sat and are starting to do themed parties! They have tons of flat screens now that you can view all your favorite sports events! Needless to say, I love this place! :)

Average food, average atmosphere. Good for a quick burger & beer. The Thai pasta is awful… which I probably shouldnt have ordered in the first place.

Been in a couple times, surprised I had to add it to Unilocal, but, frankly, thought it was worth the effort to add! I can’t speak to the dinner or bar scene, but can tell ya’ that this place is a decent lunch-pub-bar in the middle of a long weekend of errands and running around. Good place to stop, get a restorative malt-and-barely beverage and a burger between all the other errands up and down the highway. The menu’s not remarkable, and the tap-beer list is only the standards.(Cue expectant look remaining on my face as the server struggles to think if there’s anything after The Big Weak American Beers, Blue Moon and Yuengling… and there isn’t…) So, why four stars? The fries are great. Not in the«big hunks of potato with the skin on great» way, but in the«double-fried, fast-food-style-but-bigger-and-wayyy-better» way. But, even more importantly: After years of ordering my burgers medium-rare(gotta kill the e. coli, but still wanna know they’re made of cow!) and being disappointed _every_time — they always come out either«cooked ’til medium well, why’d ya’ bother asking me??»(we’ll leave the«sorry, we can only cook them medium well or well» «why’d you bother asking me?!» for another tirade) or pink-grey through-and-through and cold, or(more unusual, but still not right) «raw» — I got a – wait for it – perfectly-cooked medium-rare: My burger was very hot on the outside and cooked dark, but then quickly pink and just the right amount of rare-red in the middle. Perfect. OK, so it’s not a four-star restaurant in the grand scheme of things… maybe three stars, or even two. But in comparison to all the reasonably-priced pubs in the world, if you’re lookin’ for pub food on a weekend afternoon, you could do worse. I can’t promise yours will be the same — only been twice so far, and only the second time got a burger — but between the standard pub fare, great fries(if you like the style) and _perfectly_cooked_burger… gotta go four stars. Maybe the moons aligned, and the right chef was in, and the next time it’ll be back to typical-done-wrong and I’ll have to eat my words but… for now, gotta share the praise. Will update again on future visits… but still so flabbergasted to receive a fantastic medium-rare, that I just had to add the listing and blather on about the place!
