Driving through on our way to Pismo beach and was everything we wanted. A nice intimate tasting room. The manager Debbie was great and made it very much worth our while. We bought the groupon deal which was totally worth it. Favorite wines: 09 Pinot, Cosmic Red, Ziff Blend.

This is a firm 3.5 star review :-) We stopped in at Phantom Rivers on a weekday and found a friendly and attentive staff member who greeted us warmly. The tasting room is is a cute cottage right on the main drag in Arroyo Grande. They’ve got a great front porch to sit and relax while enjoying the wine and the interior is comfortable as well. Wine wise, the wines here are good but not necessarily great. I admit to being a bit of a wine snob, but hey you can take this review with a grain of salt and thats fine :-) The location definitely has its strong points with some good food within easy walking distance but you can find slightly nicer wines up the road on the Edna Valley trail. All that said their Cab based wines are quite nice and I actually bout a bottle. A couple negatives were that our very sweet tasting room pourer insisted on telling us(her opinions) on everything we’d be smelling and tasting in the wines. Personally I prefer to form my own opinions on whats in the glass,(and I know its just my peeve) but I find that just a bit off-putting. A second weird thing was the parking. There is a small lot 7 – 8 spaced directly behind the tasting room but apparently all the spaces are controlled by a cranky lawyer(say it isn’t so ;-) who doesn’t like winery patrons parking there. We parked there(only one other car) and didn’t move but the tasting room is part of the same units the lawyer is in so I’m surprised they don’t have the rights to at least a couple of spaces. Street parking was full so thats something to work on. Anyhow Phantom Rivers is worth a stop if you are in the old-town area of AG for sure,

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this tasting room, usually prefer tastings at wineries. Pleasantly surprised. Wines were good and our hostess Lois was very friendly and gave us a lot of helpful tips on local restaurants and hotels. My favorite wine was the strawberry infused one. Not to be confused with Boones Farm or Wild Vines type flavored wine. It was not sweet and had just a slight strawberry essence to it. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. Lovely place, would visit again.

We all know wine tasting is a great afternoon treat on the Central Coast of California. There are many tasting rooms that offer amazing wines and awesome staff. Phantom Rivers is no exception. Tucked away in Arroyo Grande, it is a treasure to experience. The tasting room is clean and tidy, with many places to sit and enjoy your tasting. Debbie was our wine steward yesterday. She listened to what we liked and helped us through the tasting so that we got the most out of our adventure. In addition to her wine expertise, she is knowledgeable about the best places to eat. Thank you to Debbie and Phantom Rivers for a very pleasurable tasting — we will be back.

The tasting room is part of a well maintained but small craftsman style house located in the quaint village of Arroyo Grande. It is surrounded by charm and beckons you in. The interior is small on all accounts but has several cozy seating areas on the front and back porch as well as inside. The tasting bar was in what was most likely the old parlor. We came away with a nice, non-syrupy zinfandel port, the 2008 Eclipse, that is quite worthy of a visit. Parking is a bit of a challenge, so if you cannot immediately find a spot on the street, there are small public parking lots behind the building, one block above the main street. Dogs are welcome, providing even a cushy doggie bed and water bowl for their comfort on the back porch.

Visited A.G. and decided to stop in. What a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed all of the wines. Reasonably priced considering the area. Loved the Grenache! * Go on Fri eve and listen to the deli’s live music next door while sipping wine on phantom’s porch

I discovered this little gem while walking through the village of AG. What a terrific place to stop for a great glass of top-notch wine. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. After our tastings we selected a bottle and sat on the front porch with my group. Everything was really great! I can’t wait to go back!

My partner and I collect wine and decided to taste at Phantom Rivers. The atmosphere was very comfortable and Diana poured for us. She was AMAZING! We loved their wine list so much that we left with six bottles and couldn’t help but recommend our favorites to the guests who came in after us, but what we really enjoyed was our visit with Diana. She turned a simple wine tasting into a wonderful memory and she made it clear that we are always welcome at Phantom Rivers. We can’t wait for our next visit. BUY A BOTTLEOFTHEIRNEWSYRAH! The best I’ve ever had!

Cute lil boutique winery in the middle of town. Didn’t expect much, but was totally pleased with the wines here. My expectations were low for the actual tasting too, but the lady hosting it was pretty sweet and knowledgeable. and she didn’t pour like a wussy. Left with a muscat and some other dessert wine. Boyfriend broke muscat when we got home :(Waaah, I want my muscat! :) I’ll be back. on yes, I shall.

Amazing many award winning local small production winery. Cheap prices for really amazing vino. Great location in an old craftsman house in the Arroyo Grande Village. The best Central Coast Pinot Noir. Great local art/photos on wall. Share a bottle($ 15 and up) on the porch before antique shopping in the village.
