Time & competition in Asbury has REALLY passed this place by, BADLY! No hours of operation posted(u are NOT only AP place for breakfast, like 6-yrs ago). Coffee is «ehhh»(not great). Sandwich portions SKIMPY… but the WORST: breakfast home fries! I mean, REALLY: FROZEN& overspiced, to «hide» freezer-burn! The newer places within block of this«ol dog» are TOPS: «Cardinal» & «Toast». Skip ol’ DJs & try another GREATPLACE within a block!

I have lived in AP for 3 years and just found this gem for weekend brunch. My husband wanted something different so we popped in and boy were we happy. He got the Buffalo chicken and a side of the chilli and cheese fries, which he loved. I got an omelet and home fries with rye toast! Everything was delish! Our waiter was super friendly and helped with our selections. It was so good that we went back the next weekend and the same fabulousness repeated itself.

Nice little place that I have gone to for lunch. Has a nice family feel to it & lots of food selections. There is a market side but also a dining area which is very comfortable. Nice that there are little mom & pop type places around to have a great meal!

I was pleasantly surprised that they had gluten free bread! We went in for a causal lunch and the nice chef came out to talk to me since they had run out of shrimp and wanted to know what I wanted. I told her to surprise me and boy did she ever! I had an open faced beef and cheddar with grilled veggies it was delicious! Absolutely incredible service too! I should of asked his name but forgot.

If you ever go to see wrestling at the convention center and get way more shimmed up then you planned, you’re going to need to put something in your belly the next morning before the hour long drive home. We headed into the swanky side of Asbury Park to find coffee and food. We drove right by it and stopped a gay dude walking his dog and asked him where the spot was for breakfast in the AP. He pointed us down three doors to DJ’s Delight. Now, I don’t know if Asbury Park has a big gay community but this place had two big olé rainbow flags flying out front. If you’re one of those types that is full of hate and can’t appreciate two people finding each other to get through this whacky world together because they both have the same set up downstairs, then don’t eat here. But once you’re inside its not gay at all. You go into a deli area where deli type things are happening. The nice man with his dog was now inside and told us to walk through a door towards the back. We came upon a little grocery area. My man, we need coffee and grease. We don’t need cleaning supplies and crackers. He kindly told us to go a little further til we emerged in a nice little dining room. From the looks of it, we thought we were about to eat a $ 22 breakfast. Then the lovely server brought us some menus and we saw it was priced nicely. Time to fix our hangovers. After about 2 seconds of reading the menu for the right weapon of choice to help us combat our poor decisions from the night before, we both noticed the Gut Buster. It’s a bacon, egg, sausage and cheese. But whoa whoa whoa, that’s not it. They throw on a friggin hash brown patty thing. Sweet mother of greasy hangover helper. This thing means business. It was the perfect combination of all our farm yard friends putting together their time and resources to help us in our time of need. Some even gave their lives. RIP and thank you. The home fries were also seasoned nicely and had the slightest kick to them. The only down side was the orange juice was freshly squeezed from a carton. I half thought this place might have had someone in the back squeezing oranges for my vitamin C pleasures. I think the 2 sandwiches, 2 coffees, 2 orders of hash browns, and a nice glass of OJ came to like $ 24. Hell, at that point it could have been &1,000,000 and I wouldn’t have cared. On the way out I hit up a to go coffee for the ride. Careful!!! Those containers keep the coffee at about 600 degrees. I’m sure someone on here probably would have deducted a star point for that. Probably the person that said the owner wouldn’t make the toast she ordered and threw her plate in the garbage and threatened to call the cops. I find that to be really far from the truth. And if it did happen, she probably left out the side of the story where she was acting a complete asshat of a fool over some toast. In conclusion, eat here!

Dj’s has a wonderful breakfast place, perfect for recovering from a night out. The service is attentive and the entire staff is friendly. The food is excellent. I’ve had the omelettes but my favorite are the breakfast sandwiches. You owe it to yourself to try the gut buster, but for those people who want a little something different you can try the secret menu item the belly buster which adds roast beef to the equation. It makes for a perfect late breakfast sandwich.

My first time eating here. Stumbled upon it a few wks ago while walking around asbury park. Saw a lot of people coming and going from there and it got good reviews so I figured I would give it a shot. Well was not impressed. We were the only people in there and it took awhile for our breakfast. Ordered the DJ’s big breakfast special. Asked for the bacon to be crispy and it was not, the sausage did not look like it was cooked enough and the home fries were gross. Had a very weird taste to it. At first I was very disappointed with the very small serving size, but after trying it I did not care because I took one bite.(they were that bad). So we will not be going back. It’s a cute place and the staff is friendly. If only the service and food could be better.

The food was hot, the fluffy pancakes were indeed fluffy(and large) but our server was either half asleep or new as s/he forgot utensils. My sandwich, egg and ham on a hard roll rated a C. The prices are silly high for what we got. We were taken in by the cuteness of the shop, but found the overall experience to be lacking. Your mileage may vary.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Not only did it take them over an hour to even put some of our food on the table… Half of our dishes were missing food and the other half of the food was cold. When we complained to the waitress she said I’m sorry but we’re busy. Which normally is not a big deal BUT when my mother went to complain to the owner and said excuse me she has her eggs for 20 minutes and still didn’t get her toast can you make some toast for me please? The owner said and I quote«I am not giving you toast right now I will make it when I’m ready so you might as well go sit down!» And threw her plate in the garbage. My mom went back to the table and said he just yelled at me. My father said to the waitress can you please get the owner he needs to apologize to my wife or we are leaving. The owner not only said I am not coming out but 2 minutes later came out and proceeded to call us all assholes, kicked us out of the diner and then called the cops because we didn’t pay the bill for the food we didn’t eat. This owner should be ashamed of himself.

Great lunch spot in Asbury Park. I work across the street and stop here every once in a while for some lunch. Great sandwiches and hot dishes. DJ is very friendly and his customer service is awesome. The same goes for the employees that work there. Only thing that bumps DJ’s down to a four is salads. They’re kind of bland. I usually get the Chicken and Mozzarella Sandwich.

Cool little place. Ordered egg white, spinach, feta omelette; asked to substitute fruit for home fries & toast. This was done without any attitude or mention of an upcharge. I liked that!

This small, home style restaurant was a great find. Food was plentiful and tasty. Prices were great! Highly recommend!

Everything is excellent… Except for the coffee. It tastes like the maxwell house that grandma makes in her 30 year old coffee maker. Change your coffee and you’ll be a rival to all the breakfast hotspots in AP! Also, one particular waitress is really really REALLY loud when talking to other employees about her personal life. This might be ok when the DJ’s is packed, but when there are only a couple of tables and I can barely hear the person across from me speaking because she is practically yelling about what she did last night and how many drinks she had, it kind of makes me want to sit outside… across the street. Excellent food though!

What else can be said about DJ’s? Well, I have a few thoughts on the Chicken Salad. Like that they put craisins and WALNUTS in it. That it has mayonnaise but tastes light is impressive as well. These factors combined give it amazing texture! Sandwiches, hot dishes, and even a market if you need to pick up a few household items. These guys do it right in all phases, customer service is as good as the food. Go in more than 3 times and you will feel like a regular. If you are in Asbury Park then CHECKTHISPLACEOUT!!!

Cute place with incredibly nice people. You can get yourself a hot homemade breakfast, or you can go into the market area and buy all the ingredients you need to make a meal at home. They always have some delicious looking baked goods in the front counter case too.

Terrific! Made reservations for a party of 12 and everything was perfect! Food was fresh and delish. Good cup of coffee and dessert was out of this world! We will be back for sure. Thank you DJ for a wonderful day.

I’ve been here so many times and it is usually really great, except for the last 2 times. I think there is a new waitress and she wasn’t that attentive to our table at all. We had to get up and ask for water, we had to get up and ask for more coffee, and she just didn’t get it. She didn’t have an off day because the last time I was there she did the same exact thing. The owner and chef is super nice we know him by name and face. He is really great! The food is usually superb(the last 2 times it wasn’t that great, I have to admit). Man, I think I’ve come here for breakfast more than 10 times and 8 out 10 it was delicious, quite, and inexpensive. Some highlights: — Super friendly and approachable owner — Amazing chipotle sauce — Can’t beat that big breakfast special on the skillet — They have these little glass coffee holders, that look like a little water bottle, that they bring to you when you want more coffee. They’re so cute. They don’t bring it to you all the time though — It’s usually really quiet in there which I LOVE especially for breakfast — Most of the waitstaff are very knowledgeable and helpful, just that one girl wasn’t.

Usually frequent here when I go down to the beach during summer time. The sandwiches are great(personally really love the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado Panini) and I the fried mac n cheese is crazy good! I always enjoy the atmosphere because the owner/chef is always on top of everything, provides great customer service, and even looks to get feedback to maintain or better any part of service. This is a place has always been worthy of coming back to for me. Thanks DJ’s for the great food and hospitality when I am there in the summer time!

If it’s a delight to wait for 30 minutes for your food in a half full restaurant, then definitely put Dj’s on your list. We were looking for an alternative to toast which is always packed and also has glacial service. Unfortunately Dj’s doesn’t make the bucket list. Food was ok. Nothing terribly special. Wait staff was apologetic but basically said that food comes out of one kitchen in the deli so therefore we were behind a queue of takeout and delivery. Next door is kinda cute as a convenience store but not worth a special trip.
