Frozen Fantasy

In the age of frozen yogurt shops infiltrating suburban strip malls faster than it seemed Starbucks ever did, I would reckon that those individual fro-​yo businesses would need to fight hard to stay afloat, since they’re all similarly-​priced and peddling the same concept. Looks to me like Frozen Fantasy is missing the boat on the «staying afloat» front…
Popped in here on a Saturday night around 8:30 PM, and the shop was totally empty. The lone employee was hunched over a customer table transfixed by his smartphone and didn’t bother to mutter a hello, just looked up and slumped over to behind the register. Not a great first impression.
Typical setup of 10 or so flavors against the wall, serve yourself in one of three sizes of cups. I was appalled at how dirty the area around the machines was, and the first two flavors I attempted came out at roughly the same consistency as water from the tap. I had to settle for other flavors — Georgia Peach and Cake Batter. The former was extremely sugary and the latter wasn’t very cake batter-​y.
Toppings bar was fairly clean (compared with the rest of the store), but looked the toppings needed refreshment, and the only fruit topping available was strawberries (unless you count maraschino cherries as fruit). Usual array of candy/​cereal/​sweet toppings, plus standard selection of sauces and syrups.
Relatively cheaper than SweetFrog and similar concepts, as my small-​sized cup weighed in on the featherweight side and only set me back $ 4.25.
It was rather awkward to eat indoors with the hubs, with it being so stark empty inside, but the party really got going when the lone teenage worker’s buddies all showed up (about 5 of them), said «hey» to one another, and proceeded to sit around the same table (for customers) and play on their phones. Definitely an obvious lack of training and/​or initiative. Just plain lazy and not a welcome sight. No «thank you» or «good bye» as we left, and hey, I’m on my phone all the time too, but not while at work (when there are things to clean and areas to spruce up) and while customers are around. For the family set in Ashburn, it would appear as though SweetFrog, Zinga, and Tutti Fruitti are better choices.

Standard self serve fro yo shop… Which is good to me. Eight to ten different flavors. My favs were the chocolate, peanut butter and the dulce de leche. Lots of fresh fruit toppings, more than some shops, plus the usual assortment of candies. Sauces were somewhat lacking, bottles of syrup. But overall, a good place!

The consistency of the frozen yogurt was extremely runny causing my frozen yogurt to melt before I was even close to done.
I don’t think i would go again seeing as how there are several other frozen yogurt places in close proximity that have better service and frozen yogurt overall.

I don’t understand the such bad reviews here…
I went here last night and my roommate and I go get froyo tasted fine to me… I loved ever flavor I got (peanut butter, cookies and cream, chocolate, irish mint, cake batter). I didn’t get any toppings but it seemed the had a large assortment. The yogurt was smooth and all had a great taste. My favorite was the peanut butter. It reminded me of eating peanut butter captain crunch in a yogurt form. Overall this has been one of my favorite places so far, and I’ll definitely be back!

I went there first time and yogurt was good, service was great and they have best topping ever. There yogurt take is better then other. I don’t like Pink berry. they are too tarty for me. This was great and my kids loved it.

It’s froyo. Hard to go wrong. Is it tasty? Yes. The best part was the array of flavors available, especially pumpkin, cappuccino and peanut butter. So what brings it down?
1) Inconsistency in the yogurt. Some of it had that weird freezer burn thing where there were little ice crystals in it (not even sure how that happens). Others (such as the original tart) weren’t cold enough and came out watery at first.
2) Too much candy, not enough fresh fruits, etc., on the toppings bar.
3) Creepy cashier guy.
4) Overcrowded with teeny bopper girls. Annoying.
Overall, if I want froyo, and this is what’s nearby, I’d probably go there. But I wouldn’t make a special trip like I do for the all-​natural goodness of Red Mango or the delicious sugar-​free blends of Yogenfrüz.
One good note: FF is WAYYYYY cheaper than any other froyo place.

I have been to this frozen yogurt place, and unfortunately, I did not like the yogurt at all. It was very watery. They had a nice selection of toppings, but couldnt eat it as my yogurt was all watery

Awful tasting frozen yogurt. Good frozen yogurt tastes tart and fresh. This tasted more like chalky ice-​cream.
I would never, ever go to this place again, even if I was craving frozen yogurt and I was right next door.

Frozen Fantasy has potential. Before they arrived in the neighborhood my family and I used to go to Zinga, their main competitor, all the time. My kids however prefer Frozen Fantasy, so that’s why we go there most of the time.
First, the Good: Their ice cream is tasty and their toppings selection is outstanding. For the most part, employees are friendly and courteous. The place is clean and well lighted. Pleasant.
The Not so Good: Their ice cream selection is not as good as Zinga’s and they tend to stay with the same flavors longer. This is not necessarily bad, unless you get bored of the same flavors.
Also, the quality of ice cream is inconsistent. For example, today, their Banana flavor was watery and lacked flavor/​consistency. I immediately notified the only employee available, who said he was going to look into but he didn’t (at least not while I was eating at their store). Instead, he went back to chatting with his teenage buddies who were at the store. A chain with outstanding customer service would have trained their employees to resolve this issue immediately, before other customers complain.
This takes me to my third comment regarding things to improve:
I often see many of the younger employees chatting with their friends at the store (today was just one of the many instances where I have seen this happening). While socializing is not an issue, it doesn’t not help the company’s image and it can become distracting for employees and diminish the quality of service. Another example of how this affects service: I know they have a loyalty program, but the employee on duty never asked me for my phone number (I would have given it to him if I had remembered). I have never experienced those issues with their other competitor.
Reinforcing their quality standards and more employee training on customer service would definitely go a long way towards making them a better ice cream choice in Ashburn.

Best Frozen yogurt shop in the area. They have great flavors and the most toppings to choose from!
