Great food and excellent service. Danni helped us and she was on point the whole night. It was a busy Saturday night and the food came out promptly along with our drinks. I had the strip steak it was cooked to perfection and my wife had the sliders which looked awesome! The Justine Cabernet was excellent to have by the glass and the atmosphere was hopping and lively. We will be back! Cheers

came on Friday night for drinks… the crowd at the bar was so crazy that a bartender didn’t even look up at me for almost 35 minutes(while I was sitting at the bar) and by the time he did my friends decided to go somewhere else. So I really can’t speak as to the food or drinks… however we heard great things from friends so I’m very anxious to come back and try again!

Like others have mentioned, my first impression of Matchbox was that it was too loud. This was a major detractor from the place as conversation was definitely something we were anticipating at the table, to the point we almost got up and left — We should have. Its bar food disguised as fancy. If you’re looking for burgers and pizza to accompany your drinks, then this place is definitely for you. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good, I just wish that something other than a bar focused restaurants would go into One Loudoun. Service started out great for our visit, but shortly after taking our order the server went MIA for the remainder of the meal. He didn’t bring the food himself, nor did he bother to stop by and ask how things were when we finally got it — Which took a rather long time. Because you can see the kitchen from the table we were sitting at, it didn’t go unnoticed that two of the three items our group ordered sat on the service«table» in the kitchen for upwards of ten minutes before they brought it out. As for the third item, that didn’t come for another ten to fifteen minutes. Pretty sad when you make pizza and burgers, and can’t coordinate all of that coming to the table together. It also never makes for a good dining experience when people are waiting on food while others are eating so what they ordered doesn’t get cold(er from already sitting for ten minutes in the kitchen). Overall the food was good, but the lack of service, and the inability to bring all the items together makes this a place we will forget about for the future. One Loudoun is still up and coming, and hopefully something worth raving about will eventually join the fray.

I had the opportunity to visit Matchbox’s newest copy for my birthday, and it was also Matchbox’s turn to «make it right» for my in-laws, who had previously been given a food credit for a not-so-stellar previous visit. For a party of 4 on a weeknight, scoring a table was a snap. Although we made a reservation just in case(and to scope them out on handling a birthday reservation), we could have done walk-in just fine. Expert tip: they have a great bar seating area, and if you’re looking for a «special» or more romantic seating option, call and select the private booths overlooking the main floor when you reserve. Matchbox is known for their pizza, but they also have several other menu items that are noteworthy for those who do not care to choose pizza. Start with a couple of appetizers; we loved the Arancini and the Giant Meatball, and the Crab+Avocado Tower is also memorable. I should also add that we had wonderful service; we were seated upstairs near one of the wine displays and food prep areas, so it was also a cool visual spectacle. Should you steer clear of pizza for your entrée, our table loved their Bistro Burgers and the Braised Short Ribs. We didn’t experience the«overcooked» burger issues other reviewers have griped out, but then again, my in-laws like their burgers pretty much well-done. We did have a slight issue with wait times; apparently a «very large to-go order» was called in at the same time which our order was entered into the system, so we experienced a very long wait between the appetizers and our entrees. Luckily, we had a bottle of wine already on the table to satiate us, along with regular and sincere updates from our waitress and a manager. I was the only one who ordered a pizza, and I appreciate that they allow you to go half-and-half with any pizza order, so I opted for half Fire+Smoke(supposedly spicy, they even warned me about it, but I couldn’t detect anything that set me ablaze, still very tasty though) and half Prosciutto+Mission Fig(this half was very delicious, albeit a little too over-honeyed). What was nice about the pizza was that they have their charring and cooking methods down pat, so when I requested a crispier, more well-done crust, that is what I received. The pizza dough was neither soggy nor under-done. I would definitely return here for drinks, and some bar snacks. Loudoun County was in need of a place like Matchbox; at once bar-hopper friendly, while at the same time covertly being family-friendly. While I’m sure their service/capacity issues are due to the fact that they’re newer, don’t let that deter you from giving them a try.

Our experience at this location was not the greatest. After a long day of class/work, some friends and I just wanted to start off our weekend with happy hour and a nice dinner. I called at 5:00pm to make a reservation for a table of 6 and the staff member who picked up the phone informed me that it would be a two hour wait… at 5:00… My friend didn’t believe her so we showed up without a reservation, and got seated right away! There were plenty of tables available. Bad impression #1. Half of our table showed up first and ordered their drinks and meals right away. The other half had car troubles and didn’t show up until 5:40pm, which is still plenty of time to order off the happy hour menu. Well our waitress did not even acknowledge that half of the table until 6:00, which is when HH ends. She definitely saw us, but it seemed as though she purposely ignored us.(Bad impression #2) We were getting impatient and I think one of the managers saw because he came over. As soon as he asked us if we had been helped, our waitress appeared out of no where. We explained to her how we still would like to order off the HH menu because of how long we had to wait to get help and she told us she could do that for us. The drinks and food didn’t take terribly long to come out. I ordered the sangria, which looked cute in the mason jar but was not very good. It tasted like straight up red wine. Some other friends order the lemonade off the HH menu, and that tasted a lot better, even though it didn’t taste like there was alcohol in it at all. As for food, my friend and I shared the sliders. At the other locations, we have always been asked if we what kind of cheese we wanted. This location didn’t even add cheese. Regardless, they were good. My friend got the crab cake burger and enjoyed that. Other friends ordered off the HH menu, but none of them were pleased with what they got. Overall, we weren’t impressed with One Loudoun’s Match Box. The interior was nice, but the staff needs to learn better customer service. For now, I think we will stick with Bar Louie for HH.

I was in the area for happy hour(not at Matchbox) and decided to have my husband meet me here for dinner. It was a good choice. Let me start with that — we’ll be back. A friend had warned that it was a fun atmosphere but a little loud. They were right — it was loud but tolerable. We were waited on right away and brought water to start. Drinks came out promptly and the waiter suggested appetizers. We decided to try his suggestion — the guac and crab with flatbread. It was quite good actually. Interesting combination but the very good. The serving size was nice — crab served to the side of the guacamole. The guacamole was fresh as was the crab and the crab was nice and sweet. Although they are known for their pizza — we opted to order a pasta dish(penne or rigatoni I don’t remember) with a spicy sausage and I ordered the prime rib French dip. Both were very good. The fries were a little on the soft side but not too bad. French dip was tender and rare and au jous was tasty — not too salty as some can be. I do have to say that it did take a while to get containers to go for the second half of my sandwich, extra au jous and the check — but all in all it was a good first experience and we will be back to try the pizza and/or other enticing items on the menu.

I was very impressed by this restaurant. Our server, Vincent, was very attentive to all of his tables. We sat in a very large booth area with wooden square stools and benches. We sat near a window near the kitchen and refrigerator which was cool. The food was good. I had the gyro on flatbread with their homemade chips. There were plenty of different kinds of food to choose from. I tasted the Walk of Shame burrito and that tasted really good. We order the mini burger sliders with onion rings but I tried the burger and it tasted sorta dry. The onion rings were good though.

Where to start… Atmosphere is nice when you walk in, you’re greeted and sat by a nice staff but food isn’t all that. Ordered the burger medium rare my fiancée ordered the same thing but medium well. We waited 45 minutes for the food. My burger came out unevenly cooked. One side was medium well, other half was rare. My fiancees burger came out B U R N T, black over cooked and dry. I told the waiter and he bought it back to the«chef» and they refired it. Waited another 25 minutes for a refire. It came out again, well done. At this point I was just frustrated and told the waiter it was ok. We proceeded to order dessert and waited yet another 30 minutes for dessert. The worst part, the place was not even half full. I have worked in the restaurant industry before and it is pathetic that your«chef» can’t cook a simple burger correct and how does it take 25 minutes to refire a burger. Won’t be coming back.

New favorite! Fabulous cocktails, amazing food. We started with the mini burgers with onion straws — delicious, would have been perfectly satisfied, but we had to check more on the menu. I had the French Dip, couldn’t finish it all. The roast beef was perfectly done, great choice. My husband had the pepperoni/sausage pizza and loved it. Our server was fabulous, she said we must try the churros. We decided to try, take home what we couldn’t finish. There are no churros in the take home bag. Why? They were amazing and we polished them off!

We arrived during the down shift(which is between 2pm — 4pm) for most restaurants. This is when the majority of the wait staff go home for their split shift. It’s a normal practice to leave a skeleton crew during this time: Server: Brian 3 Stars because he was slow but demeanor, attitude and follow-up was great!(I give him a pass) Food: Onion Straws 4 Stars Burger 5 Stars(I love the flavor of the beef, ground mustard and it came our perfect(medium) Pepperoni Pizza 3.5 Star(Way to many pepperoni’s so it was overkill, crust and sauce are Great!) 2nd Pepperoni for the Kids with non-spicy kid’s sauce(it was too spice for my son — must be spicy pepperoni’s) The manager took back the pizza and gave our kids the Captain Healthy Fruit and Cheese plate — Awesome and very Customer Service Oriented

Matchbox is A-OK. I would not object to going back, but it’s not going on my list of places to revisit on my own initiative. First impression: WHAAAAT? I CAN’T HEARYOUBECAUSEIT’S SOLOUDINHERE! This is one of those places you have to shout across the table to hear each other and it’s nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. So if your in-laws come to visit and you want a place where you won’t be able to hear them or speak to them, this would be a great place for that. The service was very friendly, enthusiastic, and prompt. The food tasted very good, but was pretty pricey for what you get. For example, we ordered the crab and avocado appetizer based on the waiter’s recommendation. It was good. I enjoyed eating it, but it wasn’t worth the $ 14 they charge for it. In summary: Thumbs up for good tasting food and friendly service, thumbs down for high prices and not being able to hear anything over the deafening roar of background noise.

Stopped back in after taking a show in @ the Alamo. Place was pretty busy(’tis the season) for a Monday at 4pm. Staff was top-notch. Can’t say enough good things about the bartender and the waiters we interacted with. Everything went quickly and smoothly.

Definitely recommend the mini burgers. They are small, but perfectly satisfying. They come with a ton of fried onions which are delicious on their own and in the mini burgers. Normally, I don’t like fried onions or onion rings because I find them too greasy, but these were on the drier side and seasoned nicely. Tried their salad with seared tuna. It was good for the most part, but they sprinkled some uncooked ramen noodle pieces which I didn’t find too appetizing. The pizzas were ok — I’ll have to try the pizzas again and make better mental notes. Crab cake sammich was good — nice portion.

Full disclosure, the owner of these restaurants is a good family friend… However that does not affect my feelings or reviews. Love this new location, bringing this fantastic restaurant closer to this area, near the new too golf… Great location. The two floating tables are the most amazing tables in the place… But the layout of this one is great and quite large. Great bar… Love the open atmosphere and great food that comes from the place. Also, tons of outdoor space… And fire pits. Lots of parking. For the kids, ask for some pizza dough to play with… It works for hours … Service needs some work at this point but they are working on improving …

Excellent service at the bar by Don. Had a delish salad called«steak & greens.» So awesome. Probably 6 oz of steak cooked medium, per my request, a lovely mixed greens salad with grape tomatoes, blue cheese, cubed tater tots(HELLO! they were amazing) with a very light balsamic vinaigrette. Beautiful interior, short wait, good stuff. Will come back. Yummy!

A new restaurant/bar in One Loudoun that will generate a lot of buzz and such. I heard about the ones in DC and I decided that I should check this place out since it’s close to where I live. Happy hour was in service at the bar which is where I landed. The cocktails were really good especially the southern charm which is a bourbon peach drink. They use Buffalo Trace for that, one of my favorite bourbons. Ordered right on the spot and enjoyed every sip. For food I tried the cheesy bread sticks and the lobster rolls. The bread sticks had a garlicky flavor with a parmesan finish and served with a tomato sauce. Not too shabby. The lobster rolls is a New England style roll filled with buttered lobster and sliced in half with a lemons wedge. It’s delicious and you can taste the butter. Hopefully this place can maintain the hype and the buzz. I’ve seen a lot of restaurants/bars that start with a bang and then fizzle out. I noticed many servers and bartenders here were people I used to work with in the industry at past establishments so I’m confident they can maintain the positive vibes. Good luck Matchbox! You’ve made me a believer so far!

The place is very nice, I know they just opened so I will cut them some slack. Overall the location is great and once they get everyone trained and up to speed I am sure it will be even better. Went in on a Friday night and was led to a dirty table, which then had to be cleaned, no silverware, etc… Food was good the giant meatball app is great.
