Terrible food, bad service or not enough people on staff? I don’t know, the waitress was nice, but she not efficient. She dropped two of our mimosas, one of which landed on my daughter. We were cool about it, just asked her to bring a wet towel. Somebody else comes out and just mops the floor all around us. They could have been thoughtful and asked if anything else needed cleaning. The drinks to replace the ones that were dropped took a VERY long time to come out. You would think they would have been comped, but guess what? Instead we were double charged! Also, the espresso there was TERRIBLE. Terrible! I don’t know quite how they got it to be so disgusting, by the way over priced($ 4 for an espresso shot!) I would gladly pay that if it was actually drinkable. Overall, this place is obviously not concerned with serving quality good tasting food, they didn’t even ask how the meal was. That’s ok– some places aren’t that. Maybe it’s a good bar to go hang out and watch a game or whatever. I don’t know! Certainly don’t go there for a meal. Especially not if you are celebrating a special occasion, bc it will put a damper on your celebration!

I have been here twice for business lunches. Based on this small sample size I would say V’s is a really good spot for lunch. The bar and the menu make me think it would be good for dinners if I lived in the area. For meals I have ordered, I have been happy. Notably, the salads are big and tasty. The ingredients were fresh and were meal sized. Burgers were the other lunch item I ordered and they were nice and juicy. Service has always been good when I was there. I have always been there for groups of 4 or 6. I don’t really understand some of the low ratings. This was not my experience. This place was better than average on my visits. Feel free to check them out is my advice.

I base my critique of a restaurant on two criteria, food quality and service/how customers are treated, both of which I feel are equally important. This restaurant gets good marks for food quality but very poor marks for service. A group of us have been going there on Monday evenings because they have 50 cent wings and 5 dollar burgers on that night. They normally offer wings either breaded or grilled but when we tried to get the grilled wings we were told that those were not on special, weird, wings are wings. Next, they have several«burgers» on the menu, i.e., with bacon, with chili, with cheese, etc. but when we tried to order one we were told that they were $ 13.00 and only plain burgers were $ 5.00. Really? if you are going to run specials just run the special and don’t be nit picky about what you offer. We have been patronizing this place for a while and also go on nights where they do not offer specials. In fact, the last trip is what prompted this review, enough is enough. I ordered a $ 13.00 burger and wanted to substitute vegetables for the fries which I have done many times in the past, now they are charging $ 3.00 for any changes even though the fries are the same price as the vegetables. The next thing I will comment about is the service, which has grown increasingly worse. When we walk into the place it always takes way too long to be seated and then way too long for someone to wait on us. We generally go fairly late and I feel like the wait staff is agitated that we are coming in an hour before they close. Also, after we get our food the wait staff almost never checks back in with us to find out how things are. This place has a good atmosphere and good food but if they don’t change their customer service, we will not be there much longer.

This place is absolutely disappointing. Made reservations for Mother’s Day. Upon entering and walking to the hostess stand, no one greeted us, despite several employees walking past and seeing us standing there. The bar tender gave us the stink eye from the bar. The hostess took us to our seat, and when we sat down, the table was covered in left over food from the previous diners. Our waitress put in the minimum effort she could, it took her ten minutes to get us two coffees and a sprite, and never asked how our food was. We had to flag her down for spoons to stir our coffee, refills on our drinks, and spoons for our entrees. It would help if the wait staff used trays, she brought out one coffee at a time bc she couldn’t carry all our drinks at one time. She did the same with our entrees. Coffee was warm and not hot. On to the food. I ordered the lamb special for Mother’s Day and ordered it medium. As mentioned earlier, she carried our food out one at a time. Mine came last and I cut into the lamb right away and it was rare. She took it back to the kitchen and it didn’t come out until the rest of my party was done eating. The mustard reduction for the lamb was too over powering, and a balsamic reduction seemed more appropriate. The lamb was extremely fatty, I got about 10 small bites out of the lamb and that was it. The broccoli side was undercooked and not seasoned, as were the potato side. For $ 30 I expect a lot better quality and quantity. Will not come back to this place again, it was an all around terrible experience.

I’ve had 2 very different experiences at The V. One not so great + one pretty exceptional = A-Ok. My first visit was on St. Patrick’s Day 2016, also the kick off of March Madness which is the real reason for my visit. I scoped this place out based on the bar, their menu, of course the TV’s & the special St. Patrick’s Day event was a bonus. It all seemed like a perfect spot… until we settled in. The bartender was a aloof & seemingly unskilled/uninterested in his job. It took several attempts to place orders, get beers & lastly our check when we decided we’d had enough & would try our luck elsewhere. I understand this isn’t a sports bar, but the rock music playing with no sound of the basketball games drained much of the excitement as well. All was not lost on this visit, as the Cajun dry rubbed wings were grilled perfectly, juicy & flavorful. The Twisted Turkey BLT with banana peppers & chipotle mayo was a tasty concoction of flavors, but came with a crazy, ridiculous $ 4 up charge to substitute a veggie for the fries. Needless to say, we passed on the side all together. With my lesson learned I returned for dinner in the dining room most recently. Our server, Eduardo was on point & refreshing after having such a previous wavering experience. He definitely won me over with the extension of a free appetizer as a concession to the little ones that accompanied me, since they placed 1st in their day’s events. Things were starting off great & without the distraction of the bar I was able to fully enjoy the quiet, low lit, sophisticated atmosphere. Even if I was dining with 3 kids, it was exactly what I needed after our crazy day. The food once again lived up to its stellar tastes, this time ordering the Steak Greek Salad. The combination of the medium steak over lettuce with cucumber, feta, tomatoes, avocado & greek vinaigrette was perfection, especially paired with a glass of pinot noir. Have to mention the kids menus are awesome too! Includes unlimited drinks, entrée & a scoop of ice cream or sherbet, all for $ 8. Additionally, kids eat free on Wednesdays with adult entrée purchase over $ 12. Those without kids can also cash in on free perks when you sign up online for the VIP Club. VIP Club offers a free appetizer just for signing up, plus more free apps on special dates like your birthday & anniversary. Provide your VIP number with each visit & earn 10% cash back on your account. A restaurant that pays, I like this concept!

Ants. On my baby and in the sugar bowl. And I think they were just as shock as we were. Unfortunately we had to shorten our visit that day.

Good spicy ahi tuna nachos and fish tacos. Unfortunately the seafood pasta diablo was bland and SPICY at the same time, and service was pretty slow. An ok place to go to, but wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there.

First time here for us. I had the ribeye, which was to touted as being«marinaded for 36 hours». The steak was a true ribeye, lots of marbling, but the marinade they used was incredibly heavy with Worcester sauce, which completely overwhelmed the taste of the beef, which was very disappointing, especially for the price($ 27). The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent, and the asparagus was large but nothing special in terms of preparation to write home about. My fiancé had the short ribs, which were glazed with a red wine reduction and was amazing. It fell apart on your fork and was delicious. It was like a really well-cooked pork roast. The beer selection is good, with 14 different beers on tap and 14 more in bottles. The ambiance is good, although an after-work crowd had taken up residence at a large table behind us and apparently never learned the concept of being courteous in a restaurant when others are around. Overall an excellent restaurant, and would love to come back and try a few more entrees.

I’ve been here three times and I waited for the third time to review because I was still trying to figure out my thoughts on the food. The service is great. The servers have probably always been the most friendly people I’ve ever encountered in the food industry. I came once for a Unilocal Christmas party for all Unilocal Elite members in Northern Virginia and it was PACKED. The wait staff and bar staff were super kind and accommodating for how large the party was. They were getting food and drinks out as quick as possible, always with a smile. I came another time in the summer and sat outside with a big group of friends. Our server was friendly, kind, and he was super fine about a million separate checks for our table. It was awesome to sit outside and I really enjoyed myself and I enjoyed the atmosphere of being outside. The third time I came on a week night with my parents, husband, sister, and my two kids. My mom ordered several drinks, we ordered 2 appetizers, the kids split a kid’s meal, and we each ordered an entrée. The appetizers were calamari and the spinach and cheese bread bowl. I thought the spinach and cheese bread bowl was good. Nothing overwhelmingly awesome. Just good. The calamari wasn’t great. It was a bit on the chewy side. It was on marinara sauce but the sauce was super spicy so I wasn’t a huge fan. The biggest disappointment was the fish tacos I ordered. First they came fried. Not just a little bit fried, like SUPER fried. Normally fish tacos are grilled. Also it came with some kind of white sauce of them. Maybe ranch? Typically fish tacos have a mango salsa, but I’ve also had great fish tacos with regular salsa. This was just a bit odd. Overall it was just really disappointing. Like I said before, the wait staff is awesome. My mom knocked her martini over within seconds of getting it and the server was super kind and accommodating. Overall they are just a kind group of people working there. If the food would be able to just step it up a notch to meet the awesome atmosphere and cool staff, it would be a great restaurant. Will I eat there again? Definitely. The outside is a really cool place to sit in the summer and the people working there are awesome. Except next time, I’ll probably just come for the drinks! :)

decent place, $$$ expensive, however their microbrew beers were very good. The appetizer menu can be expanded to offer a few more choices.

Fantastic food, good vibes here… Our server was very attentive, I was drinking coronas and as soon as my steak came(which was perfectly cooked) with out asking our server brought over 2 wines for me to try. They both paired perfect with my steak! Now that is what I call great service! Our server was that incredible I almost feel bad leaving 3 stars. The 3 stars is simply because of management… The manager was on his phone the entire time I was here, I could tell it was a personal call. He comes to the table and asked«can I get you a drink?» Well not while your on the phone. I could not believe it. I know we’re not at some 5 star restaurant but it seems like they’ll let anyone become a manager.

After having sampled some of their food at the Unilocal event, we decided to give them a try for dinner. We were here around 5 p.m. on a Saturday. Upon entering, someone working at the bar came over to greet and seat us. He said he would send a server our way. Shortly thereafter, our server, Matt, came to our table. We asked if they had a drink menu. He said he would get the drink menu and check with the bar to see which beers were available today. Then he came back with the drink menu and the beer menu, which was printed on a small piece of paper. Once we looked it over, we gave him our drink orders. I got a drink called«Cherry-lina», which basically consists of grey goose vodka and cherry flavorings. Their drink menu isn’t online so I can’t give the exact ingredients. I liked this drink — sweet but not too sweet with good cherry flavor plus it wasn’t very strong. My husband ordered an amber beer called«Elliott Ness». He never had it before. After tasting it, he didn’t care for the taste. Per his description, it tasted stale. He had me tasting it(and I know nothing about beer) and I thought it seemed on the salty side. We started with an appetizer and chose«vintage traditional wings». They come with your choice of sauce — WTF sauce, Cajun dry rub, habanero BBQ or golden mustard BBQ. I can’t imagine what WTF sauce is like — probably hotter than the habanero! We chose golden mustard BBQ. The order consists of 8 wing sections. We liked the sauce as it had a bit of a kick to it plus the wings were meaty and moist. In fact, I thought that they were some of the better wings we’ve tried. For my main course, I ordered«fish taco» which consists of: «hand breaded tilapia, lettuce, pico de gallo, lime sour cream». I asked that the sour cream be put on the side and my request was honored. This dish has 2 soft shell tacos. I found them to be easy to eat as they weren’t overstuffed but they were on the dry side. If they weren’t so stingy with the pico de gallo, they would have been a lot better. It helped to add the sour cream to some degree but it wasn’t enough to compensate for the dryness. This dish comes with fries. My husband ordered«cod and chips», which consists of: «Boston caught beer battered cod with tartar and malt. Also, this dish comes with fries. He was given 2 pieces of fish, which he said was too filling. His take on the dish — while it was properly prepared, he found it to be on the bland side. We both thought the fries were okay. Service was excellent. Matt was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. The food arrived to our table in a timely fashion. Before the tip, dinner cost $ 58 + change. We thought that the wings were the best part of the meal. At some point we’ll visit again — yet, so many restaurants, so little time!

$ 5 cheeseburgers for half price Monday! hit the spot. This place was nearly empty for a late lunch but is very spacious. Only one other couple was in there with a screaming child.(not V’s fault) They have Groupons often as well so make sure you look.

The food is good… The burgers and calamari are really good. But the service is the worst. U have to ask for everything and then they give u attitude. Just coming here for the food! That’s why 3 stars… We are back here again and I down crate to 2 star only. Server is rude. No where to be found and he is not even busy… WOW

Let me just say this… Order their burgers! The burgers are juicy and so plush. It’s so obvious they utilize fresh ingredients. The beef they use had a great fat and lean meat combination. It made the meat patty melt in my mouth. The burger is simple yet so good! I highly recommend this spot.

Attended a holiday party here recently, and the space was very awkward and easily over crowded. Trendy cute spot, and to be fair, it may have been better had they not been under staffed in the kitchen and floor, but really substandard as a whole when it comes to management of a space and crowd. They have a decent wine and beer selection, but the cocktails were not impressive and not worth ordering. Fare was more focused on looking trendy and elevated than having a quality taste or a central inspiration… tuna tartare nachos should not be a thing, and the hummus is shamefully bland. It also seems like some of their staff received training from grumpy cat as they preferred to just say«no» and walk away when asked about food or drink ordering… Won’t be trekking out to this establishment again… not when there are so many better places to frequent in Ashburn!

I came here for brunch with a group. It was perfect for outdoor seating and I love the mimosas! Aside from the drinks it has great food as well. I am surprised more people weren’t there for what an excellent place it is. I hope they bring in a Trivia night, live music, etc. I think that could help bring in more guests! I definitely enjoyed my time here and hope to experience more of it.

I really cannot understand the low ratings! We came on Friday night, no reservation(opentable couldn’t find it for whatever reason) and had a fantastic experience. I’d just heard of this place and didn’t know what to expect so when we walked in and saw the swanky décor, we were pleasantly surprised! I got a bit nervous thinking it was expensive(it certainly looked like an expensive place!) but the prices were more than reasonable. We started with the ahi nachos, and I’d seen the reviews on here complaining there weren’t enough… well that was true for my husband but not in the sense that would warrant a complaint for gods sake… they were just so good that he wanted more! He seriously debated ordering another but didn’t. I loved them, even though they had lots of spicy stuff it wasn’t too bad at all and I think my husband would probably drag me back here just for that! For dinner my husband got the diablo seafood pasta, which he said nothing and basically licked the plate clean(every sign that it was fantastic, as I didn’t even get to try a bite!) Our friend got the philly cheesesteak… they asked him how he wanted it cooked which to me immediately told me it wasn’t traditional thin cut steak, and I was right! It was more of a steak sandwich, which he had no complaints of… he just thought he was ordering the other kind. Thought that was worth noting for some people! I got the beef short ribs as I am a huge fan of them and asked for the fattiest cut they had(nothing sucks more than dry, chewy short rib) and it was so delicious! I ate every bite which is a feat for me since I rarely finish a meal. The only thing I have to complain about is that there is no drink menu. That place would be perfect for making signature cocktails but alas I stuck with the only thing I know to order from a full bar, a screwdriver(with grey goose of course– I’m not an amateur) I didn’t really love it but my husband enjoyed his grey goose & sprite. I will note, like other people said, our service was… weird. We didn’t really have a single server, more like a pack of them… but the guy that was supposed to be our actual server was definitely on top of the drinks. We didn’t find ourselves looking around for him, but thought it was weird that that servers seemed to be juggling each others customers. I would have understood if the place was packed but it didn’t seem terribly busy to me. Coming back for those nachos with a vengeance!

I was out in Ashburn and remembered coming here and enjoying the food. Unfortunately, the food was not up to snuff this time! We had: corn/crab chowder(good), cali-burger(bland, overly salted fries), and the savannah shrimp(overcooked, not too tasty). Our server was very nice and kept our glasses filled all night. She was very apologetic when we noted that there was only one set of utensils, and hurried back with them. But when it came time to pay, she was nowhere to be found! After waiting for a while, I started timing this. After receiving the check, it took another 20 minutes until we were out the door. Though it was okay the first time, I know that I won’t be coming back – far better pub food in the area.

When we arrived, the back brewery and restaurant were closed, but the bar was open. I was impressed with the décor. Absolutely gorgeous. We came so my husband could sample the beers. Bartender was great and everyone at the bar seemed like locals who knew one another, which is nice. Had that easy-going chummy feel to it.
