Anthony’s Italian Pizza

First ate here 35 years ago when they opened, occasionally stop by when I am in the area. Picked up a small pepperoni pie last night and it was as good as ever — great crust, lots of cheese, nice sauce. Know the ownership has changed a couple of times over the years, but the food hasn’t, and that’s a good thing.

All I can say is WOW. This little place in a shopping center has some of the best pizza I’ve eaten. Lots of cheese and toppings. Excellent flavor!

Pizza is just plain awful. The cheese is low quality and sits on top like a solid seperate mass — no integration with the dough whatsoever. I was traveling and very hungry so I tried to eat it, but after a few bites the cheese was so nasty I threw it out and tried to just eat the dough. Wound up throwing most of it away. I’ve had vile pizza in my life, but this may have been the worst. If you like this pizza, you have never had real pizza.

Great place. Had large tuna subs and a club sandwich. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service was courteous and fast. The lunch menu is a great price for the quality.

I am so disappointed. We come here to Kings Dominion several time a month. We ordered from here before. The food was good enough. Somewhat bland but added seasonings we brought.
I called them from the park this afternoon to see what time the stopped delivering. I called tonight to place a large order. The lady said hold on and came back and said they weren’t delivering. The guy didn’t show up. What? Who runs a business like this?
The last time they delivered. I tipped $ 20 on a $ 38 order.
Just very disappointed. :(.

Service is still great. Unfortunately prices have increased, specials have gone away, and quality has gone down. Quantity is still large for most dishes. There comes a point, however, where a drop in quality becomes a major point when chosing a place to dine. The reduction in quality that I have experienced my last few visits, combined with the price changes has me trying other local restautants with similar menus.

Had high hopes after reading the reviews, but… They seemed to have some kind of meltdown in the kitchen. My son got his dinner, ate it, and still no pizza for the rest of us. We waited and waited until an employee came over to ask us if we were waiting on anything. Um. Yeah, like everything. When the pizza finally came out it was doughy, had too much cheese, lacked taste, and was undercooked. Others were complaining at the counter. Maybe takeout is better.

Very good pizza, huge portions, reasonable prices. AWESOME service. We had one of the friendliest, most attentive waitresses ever. Clean bathrooms.

I’ve eaten at Anthony’s a few times, mostly lunch. Tonight was the third time I’ve been there for dinner and I think it’ll be my last… at least, to dine in. The service was so very slow and just the most basic things were missed, such as lack of silverware and the need for refills. The food came out wrong, not to mention staggered… one person was halfway done before another got her food! We asked for the check and it was several minutes before it arrived… when I went to pay, the woman who rang me up acted as if I was bothering her — no smile, no thank you. I’ll think twice before dining at Anthony’s again.

We are new to the area and we were looking for a place to get good pizza. We found it here! Great pizza, and have tried a few others things… all of which were great! The prices are also super reasonable. The service is hit or miss, but everyone is always friendly!

I get a 30 min lunch. so I call ahead for a large house salad with house dressing. It hits the spot everytime.

While on vacation with my family, Unilocaler’s reviews turned me onto this AWESOME little pizzeria. Typical mom and pop joint, nothing too fancy. Just delicious food of epic proportions! Great local craft brews here too. Service was good, food was even better. Thank you Unilocal community, I would have never found this little gem in a strip mall not being a local. Being out of town it’s hard to know where to go.

We got the Italian sub special (for an excellent price) and the cheese ravioli, to go. The food was excellent, with rich Italian flavors in everything. If you order breadsticks, they’ll give you like 16 ounces of tomato sauce, which is great tasting (but also way more than you would ever need). The restaurant interior is just a little drab. Great food, good prices, and great service from nice employees. Would recommend.

Four Italian New Yorkers get out of a car…
Driving for 6 hours made us hungry. And Taco Bell/​Chick-​Fil-​A/​Truck Stop Dumpster Diving was not gonna cut it. Enter a small strip mall Italian restaurant just off the highway. Our expectations were low (we were in Virginia!) but they wasted no time proving us wrong. Everything was delicious! I ordered the eggplant parmigiana dinner and my friends each ordered small pies (hello, meat lovers!). Our waitress was a sweetie. And they have a Ms. Pacman arcade game. Score!

Nice Mom-​and-​Pop pizza spot. Within walking distance of Randolph Macon. Great prices and huge pizza slices.

This place was surprisingly good! Smelled wonderful when we walked in so i knew we were up to something good. The salad was great and i love how they serve the lettuce shredded. Soda’s were large and we each had pizza slices. It tasted like the real deal since i go to new york alot. It had that old pizzeria feel, and a jukebox and tv. the waitress was very sweet and they even gave us rolls even though we only ordered salad and slices. I would definitely go back again and try out some of their dishes since i got a chance to eyeball them going to other tables.

Small quaint just my type of place, I ordered garlic bread and cheese pizza. Cheesy awesome goodness! I would’ve had them darken it a bit more, but the flavor was fine! Cause sometimes cheese pizza can b bland.
The next day… just as gd!!! Lol I smile just at the thought of it, and I remember the bowl of freshed grated cheese sitting there waiting to b put on pizza… mmmmm

Small, quiet, cozy, strip mall Italian place. For entertainment, they had an arcade game, jukebox is $ 1 a song (what?) and a tv. Upon entering, no one said anything to us and there wasn’t a sign, so we seated ourselves. The diet soda was flat, so tried the sweet tea but it had a weird aftertaste so ordered a bottled drink. We ordered a medium pepperoni and the pizza crust had a great texture, but the slice was bland. Added salt. Wish it was a little lighter on sauce and heavier on cheese and pepperoni. Also, the checkout area causes a bottleneck between the dining area and the restroom. I can’t say I was thrilled about having to bump booties with complete strangers on my way out.
IMHO, I wouldn’t go out of my way to stop here.

HAND TOSSED! I had the white pizza which was really good. The pizza had ricotta, mozzarella, garlic and i added bacon. It is pretty much a sauce less pizza but you could really taste how good the bread they use is.
The cooks hand toss it right in front of you and they are a hard working and have good attention to detail. I would go back to this pizza joint in a second.

4 stars just because when I walked in it smelled like NY pizza spices. My family is from NY just so you know I’m not full of BS.
Pizza came pretty quickly after ordering and was delicious. Salad was really fresh. My boyfriend’s chicken linguini was pretty good (he liked it, but I’m not sure I’m a fan of the Alfredo sauce.) I would go back– especially since my boyfriend is fond of the place. I’d get pizza here any time.
