Awful customer service. Long story short, he did nothing to my shoes and they were there over two weeks.(well after the pick up date) He’d no appology for the lack of communication and his zero effort. It was a waste of my time and energy. Big bummer.

I’m tempted to give them one star, but in all fairness, over the several decades I have been in Ashland, they have given me good service on several occasions. That said, I brought an expensive Italian leather belt in to have two extra holes punch in it. The first of the two holes was WAY off center rendering it useless and because that was the one that fit my waistline at the time, made the belt ineffective. When I brought the obvious to their attention when they gave it back to me, the guy just shrugged it off. I wrote it off as an anomaly and went back for more work. They stretched some boots and did a good job but Dan’s attitude sucked. And yesterday I went in because I have a very simple problem with a seam on a pair of sneakers that I have at our home in a different city. I didn’t have them with me but had another pair of the exact make and model, but in a different color. I explained the problem which is very simple and asked about several solutions. Dan would have nothing to do with the issue. He just kept saying«I can’t do anything unless the shoes are here.» I understand except all I’m trying to do is get a thin piece of material with a flexible glue to keep the seam from rolling over and I could show him on my shoes. He wouldn’t even look at my exact shoes and said«We can’t help you.» And yes that’s true – they will never get my business again because they are just not that helpful, nor competent. Again, I should probably only give them one star or no stars, but they have done a couple of things well for me, but less than half the times I have brought them things to repair. Less than half in the repair industry is a terrible average.

Dan & his staff are friendly and professional. I took a sandal in for a simple repair and Dan took care of it on the spot w/No Charge! I then purchased a pair of Dr. Comfort sandals which are amazingly comfortable! Highly recommend this family owned shoe repair and shoe sales shop for great service and support of one of our own LOCAL residents!

Really nice place. They have done a number of unique leather repair and adjustment jobs for my family, not just simple shoe repair, and it’s always done very well and often by finding clever solutions to odd problems. Plus I love the local, personal feel of the place.

I have brought my shoe repair problems to Dan for about 10 years. I save up my shoes and bring them with me when I travel to Ashland from Los Angeles every year and he always makes my shoes and me happy with the results. I have NEVER been treated like Samantha described so I will continue to bring my business to Oregon where I find the end product to be done friendly and competently. Thanks Dan!

Wow… I could not have had a more different experience than Samantha R. had. We must live in alternate universes. 5 stars are too few: 10 stars would be better. I brought some complicated and ill-fitting leather accordion straps in to be repaired and adjusted. Employee Dave helped me instantaneously, spent an hour with me, became really involved with figuring out my problems and concerns, and was creative, inventive, and cheerful. Actually, the whole store pretty much got into the project, including a few customers,(and the afternoon finished off with a brief impromptu concert.) It was one of those wonderful, only-in-(or, at least, especially-in-) Ashland moments. And to top it off, they charged me a ridiculously low amount for the work. I needed a further adjustment a few weeks later and was met the same pleasant scenario. I couldn’t be happier!

Clearly a family business, Dan’s Shoe Repair is a cozy shop with leather accoutrements of great quality. If you are looking for a pair of boots for show or play these will be the kind that last. I lived in a pair of boots bought at Village Shoes in Ashland, and when the heels started to tear from the boot I went to Dan’s. After two weeks(during the holidays), I now have the boots back in better condition than they were new. The heels feel sturdy and comfortable. What is better than getting your favorite shoes back like new?
