What a fantastic shop in Ashland. Custom mixes along with solid choices of everything you could ever need! The freedom to sniff at everything allows your palate to go wild with possibilities, and pre-packed little baggies make it easy to pick up a few quick little gifts to give to others. Now all I have to do is remember to give them to friends… oops, looks like this one got used up on my fresh fish tonight ;)

This place is like Disneyland for those who really love to cook. The variety of different teas, spices, salts, sugars, and herbs is massive. They have everything from the typical spices like Cajun and regular ground black pepper; but they also carry a lot of unique spices, my favorite being the Moroccan spice mix that is wonderful. Not to mention I have started using it on EVERYTHING. The prices are a little steep, but the product is definitley worth every penny. The store carries a lot of kitchen utensils as well. Things like: cutting boards, a variety of knives, graters, grinders, tea steepers and infusers, plus a variety of others kitchen toys. The gentleman who was working the day we went in was friendly but a little shy and reserved. He let us take pictures inside; he just asked that we don’t take any with him in them. This is just one more unique and fun shop in the little town of Ashland.

This is a lovely shop that we stumbled upon while looking for a place to have lunch. The assortment of teas and spices were phenomenal. The gentleman running the store was helpful and also offered excellent conversation while my wife browsed the goods. Feel free to smell the contents of the jars, though be careful if you haven’t had lunch yet! The prices were really great, we were worried we had grabbed too many packages(we could easily have taken one of everything), but were pleasantly suprised at how good the prices were. We walked out very happy, and feeling great about the experience. We’ll probably be ordering tea and spices shipped from here in the future, and definitely stopping by every time we visit Ashland.

Second time in the shop vacationing, both times helped by the owner. He’s pleasant, knowledgeable about his product. If you’re seeing a heavier play at the festival come here to shop after the show. The Truffle infused Salt has been a an excellent topping to steaks.

Love the quaint feel of the place. The quality and diversity of tea is excellent, as is the customer service. I particularly love the flavored sugars! Every time I pass through Ashland, I always stop by

We found the Spice and Tea Exchange while searching the internet for spices in Oregon. We found this store to have a very unique variety of spices and blends. We were helped by Jeffery, who could not have been more helpful and pleasant. We are extremely excited to try our salted caramel on our salted caramel mochas, as well as the rubs for grilling. The store has a vast selection and can seem a little overwhelming(good thing). We look forward to stopping back in the next time we come try out a new batch of spices

Good selection — encouraged to open jars and smell. Mmmm. Purchased ground fenugreek for our Ethiopian recipies. Helpful service. Fun and easy to shop.

This is a fantastic new addition to downtown Ashland! There’s a great variety of teas, spices, salts, and more. I love how everything is in a jar that you can open and smell, and there are conveniently prepackaged 1 oz bags for purchasing. It’s hard not to be inspired to go home and cook when you’re smelling the curry powder, greek seasoning, and my favorite — truffle salt! It’s easy to spend way too much money, but there is a discount if you buy three of a kind(for example: three teas).

When Gayle and I first came to Ashland in 2006, this space was occupied by Frank Philipps Pottery. A few years later, Frank decided to work out of his studio and get out of direct retail. At that point Adelante moved in, which was last visited by us in October 2012. Gayle and I actually got a double surprise this time around, as both this Spice & Tea Exchange business and Manzanita next door(in the former Blue Heron space) are both new and only open for a short time before we happened to wander in. The Spice & Tea exchange is actually a small national chain, but is locally owned and operated. The friendly and helpful Owner is a PhD that got tired of the science and wanted to do something different. The shop is fun to browse, and between the individual packets of tea, spices, sugar, and cat nip, we accomplished a fair amount of retail therapy. I wish this place every success. After all, Ashland isn’t always the easiest town to achieve retail success.
