Didn’t come in for a while because of the bad reviews I read. What a crock! I wish I’d have came sooner because this place is awesome! I’ll be back

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have better reviews! I decided to give Flip a try when passing through Ashland on a road trip, and I was not disappointed. The burger was excellent and the fries delicious. The guy working the counter and the grill was also very friendly. He accidentally forgot to charge me for the fries, and when I offered to pay separately, he said they were on the house because he had made the mistake. While Flip’s prices are a little high, they seem in line with other restaurants in Ashland. Overall, I plan to return if I’m ever in Ashland around lunchtime again.

Good juicy burger(¼ lb). Good fries(similar to In n Out). Good shakes. They use shredded romaine lettuce and I think the pickles are house made. They have beer too.

The food is good but the service is so bad I will not go back. I have been to Flip burger in Ashland maybe 10 times. They have now screwed up my order for the 6th time. How can any place be that bad? I literally hold up my fingers indicating how many burgers I want to the person taking my order because they are so inept. I want to like the place but that’s it, I’m never going back. They don’t even have a phone number or an app to place orders… stay away from this piece of crap restaurant!

Flip The Bird Burger– Tasty but far too much salt. No to the sweet pickles. Shroom Burger– Wasn’t expecting the void of hamburger but not bad. Hand-Cut Fries– Good. Flip Dip– Who cares. Ginger Ale– Eh.

$ 6.25 = the cheapest burger in Ashland. So cheap, you can get two. And it’s still cheaper than getting a burger anywhere else. And probably tastier too. Plus 4 stars. If they had a parking lot or a drive through, I’d probably stop cooking altogether. It’s annoying to have to find parking and jaywalk when I’m hangry. Minus one half star. Their fries are unexceptional. Which isn’t to say I don’t happily eat them all and wish I had more. But they’re a little soggy. They’re also a little incongruous with the owner’s otherwise stellar standards. Minus one half star.

Had a hankering for celebratory burger after finals, so thought I’d stop by. The place is sure spik-n-span & the people are super awesome! Give you tastes of their hand-crafted soda(which is delicious, by the way), make recommendations if you haven’t been in before, add on suggestions– just a bubbly good vibe from the joint. Per the staff recommendation, I went for the shroom burger– a wonderful rosemary-marinated portobello mushroom cap stacked in between shredded lettuce, pickles, thinly sliced onions, a nice 1000 Island-style sauce &- per his suggestion– bacon & touvelle cheese on a freshly baked bun… he even suggested adding some of their scratch made black truffle aioli on top– what a taste bud sensation! The shroomy balance between portobello & truffle was magic alone, then the bacon added an extra oomph I can truly dig! Tossed in hand cut fries & one of those tasty sodas– or something from their alcoholic selection– for a little over $ 12 + tip… WELL worth it &DEFINITELY recommended!

Fantastic! Everything tasted fresh! Only thing to complain about is its a little overpriced for the small burger, but it’s still decently filling. The staff is very polite and have positive energy. A weird thing to mention though is the ketchup and the soda were both flavorful and not much of the«corn syrupy» flavor to them. Definitely check it out. If you’re a fan of in and out you’ll like this place!

I am writing an updated review to say that I wont be patronizing this establishment ever again. My husband and I came in together for a meal and had an even weirder/worse experience the second time. I asked about the sodas since we were eating in house this time and they told us that refills were $.50 each, then proceeded to literally pour at least a cups worth of soda down the drain while filling our cups, as if he were pouring foam off a beer… but it’s not foam, it’s just carbonation! I have never seen an act as condescending and wasteful in my life, it definitely felt like some weird slap in the face, though I’m sure he must have had some misconception about carbonation and how it settles, I wonder if the owner knows of this wastefulness? Eating in restaurant even more bizarre than I could have imagined, weird hippie couple staring at us our entire meal laughing(not just being paranoid, almost asked them to stop), no pepper available to public only salt(wtf?), everything seemed to be miniature including the empty ketchup bottles at the tables(I asked for ketchup at the counter but he said there was some on the table). My husband’s mushroom burger was unseasoned and undercooked, he didn’t even finish half of it. We left unsatisfied, weirded out, and kind of annoyed.

This little burger shop has garnered a lot of reviews in a short time. The menu is very brief; basically beef or chicken burgers and fries. For beverages there are Boynton sodas, beer or water. Milk shakes are also available. The chicken sandwich with lettuce and pickles was we’ll-cooked, tender and moist and the golden fries were crisp. The excellent bun comes from Mix. Ten dollars gets you a sandwich, fries and soda. The décor and furniture is spartan: a long counter, small tables and a hard bench or metal stools.

So far, the greatest burger in Ashland. Haven’t found good burgers, but Flip burgers can fulfill your desires. Good service, fun, tasty food, organic shakes, and for sure fair prices.

My husband and I went on a Saturday, and ordered the burger/fry/soda special for $ 10/ea. The burger was delish and I loved the sauce! Definitely not frozen patty crap. Good quality. The fries were great(and didn’t seem soggy to me). They were a bit on the salty side for my taste, but good none the less. I never drink soda, but I did get the lemonade and it was good! Plus they are a not your typical soda brands, they are a healthier option. We were both full from our meal when we were done. The only bummer is my husband is a little over 6 feet tall and the stools are REALLY low to the ground. Which made dining a bit awkward. Food/Service/Cleanliness all good in my book. We’ll definitely be back, great option for an affordable burger/fries in Ashland.

After reading so many negative reviews I felt obligated to balance the scales. The only reason I don’t give a 5 is that I believe there’s always room to improve. The burger with blue cheese was DELICIOUS. Burger is perfectly portioned in my opinion in our world of SUPERSIZEME. The fries were great and a portion I couldn’t finish. I love that their fountain drinks are something different than the typical Coke and Pepsi products and still have several other options. The price of $ 10 for a meal feels in line with Ashland and what is required for a sustainable business. Thank you Flip.

So Flip… Its a good start… We know it’s new and they haven’t figured it all out yet, right? That’s what we’re hoping, that this ISN’T the finished product… The good– the burger was tasty… The bun, the bacon, the sauce and condiments were all good… I thought I asked for cheese, it wasn’t on my burger so maybe I didn’t(my bad, I guess)… The fries in my opinion weren’t terrible… I get it, they aren’t the golden crispy generic fries everyone is used to… I don’t mind, I really don’t… If a fry is cut on the premises and has that homemade taste to it, I can live without the golden crisp… The black cherry soda to finish off the meal was great… The bad– Either you have to have bigger portions or a lower price tag… The meal all though it was good, was a little bit of a knock off between the California style burger meal or In-n-out style if you will, and a miniture version of 5 guys… Just not as good tasting and way over priced, as compared… Here’s the deal, I think they have priced themselves according to past success and reputation of their other restaurants, and it’s 25−35% overpriced(even for the high priced Ashland Standards, and I almost never bring up pricing as an issue in my reviews)… The place itself is clean but tiny and the staff was pleasant… The bottom line is, lower the prices or serve bigger portions… The food is good enough to compete in Ashland, but not at these prices/portion sizes… ***Eat Local***

I love it — I have only eaten here once but I am constantly thinking about when I can do it again! The pickles and sauce and bun are super tasty. I’ve seen complaints about size of burger and early issues with the fries. They must have gotten the fries message because they’re really good now! I myself like the burger size. I think it’s insane to eat anything larger, especially if you get fries and sweet drink deal. Ashland is FULL of burger places but this one actually adds something needed. Now — a fast cheap downtown burrito place would be nice.

Great food amazing prices. Way to get comfort food and feel good about the ingredients and you support organic healthy farming practices. Now I love the grass fed burger with a home made bun and fries cooked in non-gmo oil. Now you have to try the home made truffle sauce for the amazing fries. Yay great job again. Oh. Wait one more thing, the only place in town with a soda fountain pen hat has pure cane sugar.

Here’s how I do it. A new place like this, I try the fries to go. If the fries are bad, the rest of it probably isn’t so good. The fries SUCKED. I couldn’t believe that this is the quality being put out by the same people who own Mix. I won’t be back, but I’m sure they’ll make millions off of the clueless tourists.

are you telling me you’re ok spending 4 bucks for a Big Mac, but whine about paying a little more for quality? My burger was delicious and juicy and actually a more human portion. And for people who insist on a veggie option, they have a nice mushroom«burger». It’s a burger shop. If you don’t eat meat, go somewhere else. You don’t go to an Italian restaurant and insist on chow mein. Stop acting so self righteous and entitled. Personally, I like the simple, no frills menu. I didn’t indulge in a shake, but my partner said it was amazing. Go waste your money on fast food chains. I’ll be going back to Flip.

I ordered a burger and fries. The burger was tasty, but a bit small. I didn’t mind it that much since I liked the flavor. The fries are soooo disappointing. They were stuck together since they were greasy and soggy. Some of them weren’t even cooked all the way. Fries are my favorite thing in the world and I’ve never been so disappointed by them before. ;( However, I will say that the service was fast, friendly and accurate.

I’m so excited to be the first to register a restaurant on Unilocal and write the first review! I wish I could say the same about eating the actual food. Before I go further, I should mention I did not actually order any food, but from eating other people’s burgers, I would give it a solid 2.5 stars. However, I have been told I am too harsh and I am choosing to take pity for their first critique and am rounding up. I want to talk about fries. I love fries. Thick, crispy, fresh, hot fries that melt in your mouth after that initial crunch mmmmmm that is the life. I was horrified by flip’s fries. For $ 2.75 the best they could muster was thin, soggy, slightly burnt lame excuses for my favorite side. I’m still crying from disappointment. But okay I get it, you don’t care if the fries aren’t good, it’s all about the burgers. I say if I pay $ 6.25 for a burger it better be at least decent. They were drippy from the sauce and rather crumbly. I was very let down by the tiny portions that could easily fit into the hands of a small child. To end on a good note, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere what some would consider«cool». I wish you luck flip, thanks for letting me review you.
