Quaint little place! Server was a delight for us being the only ones in the place. Burgers were delicious! Definitely plan to go back when I am in the area.

Hands down, the BEST burger Ive had! The patty melt with sweet potato fries was excellent! Burger cooked a perfect medium rare(so tender and juicy), the carmelized onions with cherry bourbon bbq was fantastic, and those sweet potato fries. yummmmm! Enough said. I’m not a big burger eater because places I have gone to don’t know how to cook them right or they are just plain nasty and dry. I usually get a turkey or veggie burger when I eat out, but you Grindhouse have changed my vision of burgers. They can be very very good! This is the only place I will get a burger. Thank you Grindhouse for bring such a fine establishment to Ashtabula County. Its nice to know I can dine locally for a great quality burger!

Great spot right near the bridge in Ashtabula! Our server, Ronny, was wonderful. I got the Greek Burger(subbed chicken breast) and it was perfectly done and such a big portion. The thick steak fries were perfectly crunchy. Everything on the menu looked wonderful it was tough to decide. Will definitely go back next time I’m in Ashtabula.

Great burgers and service. Only reason for 4 stars is its really pricey for a burger and only a few fries. But excellent food!

Really great burgers, and I have had some of the best. Even better than Peter Luger’s in Brooklyn NY.

This was good! In the area for business again, and headed to the harbor area to find dinner. On a Monday night in October, there weren’t many places open, but my fellow Unilocalers had said this was worth a stop. From the street, I didn’t realize there was a dining room, but up a few steps, and had a nice table overlooking the river and the drawbridge. I ordered the Greek burger, which was really outstanding. Topped with kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, feta, and tzatziki sauce. Probably the best tzatziki I’ve had outside of an authentic Greek restaurant. I mean it was all good. The olives and roasted peppers were delicious. Served with Sweet Fire pickles(fantastic) on the side and some tasty thick fries. The menu had maybe ten different burger choices, and a half dozen salad options, and most sounded pretty good. The server was prompt and friendly, though I did feel a little like she was in a bit of a hurry to turn the table, even though there was no crowd. Overall a nice surprise to find this place. The staff were all friendly, and I’ll be back again.

I’ve eaten at the Grindhouse twice now, I don’t think I’ll go back. The 1st time I got the burger. The cook on the burger was perfect, the downfall was the seasoning they add to their beef, it tasted like an Italian Meatball with lots of garlic powder. I don’t know why they don’t spend a little more money on their beef blend and get one that will deliver a nice beef flavor, without adding a bunch of seasoning. The battered fries are straight out of the freezer section. Today I tried the Chicken Tortilla soup and a Greek salad with chicken. The soup was very good, I’ll give them a 9 out of 10 on the flavor and lots of chicken. The salad, was middle of the road. The chicken breast was cooked to the point it was shoe leather, the tomatoes on the salad were under ripe hot house tomatoes. The roasted red pepper wasn’t roasted or peeled properly. Some of the guys who also ate with me were not impressed with the food. One guy had the Chili burger, he also felt like he was eating a large Italian meatball. 2 of the guys also had the Mac N Cheese, epic fail, Kraft does it better. The Mac N Cheese had not flavor, the noodles were under cooked, it lacked seasoning. Guys, you’re on to something, don’t try and make meatballs or meat loaf and sell it to the public as a burger, especially at the price you’re asking for it.

Visiting Ashtabula all the way from Orange County, CA and let me tell you, the food was so good! The service was great, our waiter was very attentive. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger with bottomless fries and the sweet fire pickle chips. This meal was phenomenal! My sister got the same meal and added a side of mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was to die for. I’m a total foodie so I was really excited to try this new place that my family recommended. Next time I am in town, I will be sure to come in and enjoy the great food. Great job, Grind House, you won my tummy(& heart) over :) support local!

Grind House is a new aged, modern burger joint with great views of the Ashtabula Harbor and Lake Erie. It was tough to give this restaurant a 3 out of 5 stars for a few reasons. My family and I ate at The Grind House for an early fathers day dinner. I will start with the restaurant itself, although it is very small and a little cramped, the views of Lake Erie and the lift bridge are amazing. The burgers was good but not amazing. They lacked flavor and were slightly bland, but weren’t horrible. The toppings were used very sparingly and lacked that ‘wow’ factor. At almost $ 15 a piece, I was expecting a little more. The french fries and the onion rings were a 5 out of 5. The service was where this restaurant lacked. The manager walked around but didn’t say a word, which I felt was creepy. He often went outside to have a cigarette and would bring the smell back with him. Our order was never placed when we ordered due to the«new POS system» that they were having issues with. We ended up waiting a full hour for our food because of this. The owner/chef and his wife were very apologetic and they are a big part of why I would return to this restaurant to give it a second chance. They comped our whole meal for the trouble that we went through and were very accommodating, unlike their absent management team. I will give The Grind House a second chance because they are a new restaurant and have to work out the kinks. I feel with a little time, the food and service will improve. My suggestion would be to get a new manager that is very inattentive to his/her guests. Final thoughts: Give The Grind House a try if you are in the Ashtabula Harbor.

To date, I’ve dined here on two occasions and both times the food and service was excellent. My daughter had a salad on our first visit. I’m not a salad guy yet the huge salad she was served not only looked delicious, she confirmed it tasted delicious. I had the ‘Working Man’s Burger’ with fries and it was delicious as well. I prefer my burgers be cooked ‘medium’ and mine was prepared exactly as requested, not still blood red or grey as leather which happens too often at too many places. My wife accompanied me and my daughter for our second visit. She ordered her burger on a gluten-free bun which she let me try. We both agreed it was delicious. I wouldn’t have known it was gluten-free if it weren’t for her telling me. This time I had the BBQ Bacon Burger which was delicious and grilled to perfection. What really impressed me on this visit was the staff. Service was great the first time but, on this visit, everyone seemed to chip in. Two different staffers refilled my drink simply because they were passing the table and noticed it was half empty. I’m not sure our assigned server ever got the chance to do it himself despite his attentiveness. Everyone agreed it was a great meal served by a prompt, courteous staff. The place is small so it can feel somewhat cramped unless you get a window seat. If you do, you get the added bonus of a great view. Both of our visits were on Friday evenings yet, despite its size, we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes for a table either time. The only truly ‘disappointing’ experience I had both times was I didn’t have room for dessert. I’ve been told the corn fritters are from the same recipe as the old Unionville Tavern and I’ve been dying to have one. Perhaps on the next visit. Update: Finally had the corn fritters! As much as I like their burgers, the corn fritters are from heaven. Just the corn fritters is worth the visit. You may even want to order your fritters as an appetizer. You can always take what you don’t eat of your burger home with you.
