This is the space opposite The Ajax tavern on the gondola deck. It has been several things in the 6 years we have been coming to Aspen. The food was OK but nothing special. The service was worse than bad. Several times we had to run down our waiter to get service. The wine bait and switch was something I have never experienced at any restaurant. No matter what wine we ordered they were«out of it» and said they would bring us something«just as good». When we refused the substitution they came up with our original choice. THISHAPPENEDTWICE. This is old fashioned bait and switch and there are laws in several states that make it a crime. Lucky I was in a good mood and I let the whole thing slide. It was a beautiful day and I was with my grand daughter. I knew I could Unilocal them later. Don’t go there, if you can help it.

The place smells like rotten eggs. Waiters are non existent. The music was too loud(blaring house music. They messed up our orders and when the food finally came, it was very bland. Got out as quickly as possible and hope to never return. Don’t go!

This review for cocktails only. Gorgeous bar with prime view of Aspen mountain makes for great apres spot. This is the place to go for a cocktail concoction you never even dreamed of before. The mixologist takes great passion in his work. It was fun to just sit and watch him do his thing. Do yourself a favor and skip your usual vodka and soda or glass of wine and treat yourself to one of the creations on the extensive cocktail menu that include fresh and unique ingredients like ginger, basil, baked apple bitters and rosewater(not all in the same cocktail). Beware, drinks on the cocktail menu are anywhere from $ 18 – 32(one drink was even $ 800) and take some time to make but well worth it for the overall experience of watching this libation maestro in action.

After a horrendous experience dining at Nello in December we vowed to never go back. The music was not just loud it was obnoxiously loud. We, along with three other tables complained but the music stayed. Food, late, cold and bland. Wait staff actually quit during our service. Hummm, we should have learned but ran into Nello himself riding up the Gondola today. He asked us to lunch, which was very nice but we decided to arrive early and buy our own lunch. Diasaster. We ordered a specific wine buy the glass and the bartender substituted a cheaper Rose. After inquiring she told us that the menu wine was reserved for a VIP table and the substitute wine was just as good. It was not. It was warm. The food, a tasteless forzen hamburger and fat undercooked fries, was late and cold. Of course no water, napkins or knives/forks. Do not waste your money! Prediction. Out of business by the summer.

Until I learned that the owner’s name was Nello, I planned to suggest that Little Nell get the«Nell» out of Nello. We sensed we were in trouble when four to five people asked if we wanted water, but it took a noticeable amount of time to actually receive the 4x requested tap water. Then some sloppy pours left a puddle on the table that we mopped up ourselves. Next they were out of the requested wine from the much over priced wine list and tried to considerably up-sell in the suggestions. For appetizers, none were clearly good for a group and our newbie waiter(who did a fine job, considering) could not make suggestions. The endive salad had a flavorless dressing. Cesar rated okay. Of the entrées recommended, two of them were 86’d, but the waiter was not informed until about 15 minutes after we placed our orders. Yet the kitchen apparently proceeded to make the orders for the other four members of our party as it was clear that those dishes spent considerable time under the heat lamp before being served. The pastas were okay, though it was difficult to tell when the sauce sat so long it was dried out on the edges. The two who had landed on the rib eye as second and third choices were served two entirely different looking pieces of meat — varying in size and sides. The best, though, was the desert(sic) menu. Yes, dessert appeared as «desert» throughout the menu. Ambience is lovely. The Aspen Times reported on the opening of this restaurant back in December. For a place to be lively and fun, it will need to have the items on the menu — or at least communicate with the waitstaff when items have been 86’d. To also rate as affordable, lower the wine prices, don’t charge $ 15 for chicken soup(we were curious, but passed) and drop the salad and appetizer prices a few dollars.

Absolutely horrible. Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me! Went back after awful experience during their opening week. The second experience was actually worse! You have to beg to get a menu, beg to get water, beg to get a drink, and beg to place your food order. TWOHOURS later, you get food, only its not your food!!! So you eat someone else’s food, cold and bad. The help is rude and overwhelmed. The owner Nello Balan is to busy to help out any manager or table, he’d rather glad hand people and change costumes. what a clown show this place is, don’t go, or do go… while you can, it will be closed soon, i’m sure of it.

This is the. BEST place for lunch if you are skiing on Aspen Mtn. Great views great food. Pasta or veal or sirloin burger best choices. Cappuccino are excellent. Black cod is a B but the rest is an A.

I asked for a bar menu and was told that they don’t have one. Ordered the lobster bisque for $ 34 dollars. Totally now worth $ 34. Can buy a whole lobster for that price.

Just awful — so much to say Food all the way around was tasteless– I’ve had better salmon at Koo Koo roo! This place is not Italian!!! My God I’ve never tasted food this bad and 42 dollars for a piece of Tasteless fish! The place has atmosphere and seems like a good location but my guess is they want to make all the money on alcohol– NOTFOOD!!! I would say do not eat here but the word is already out its 7:59pm and I’m the ONLY one in here! I can’t believe the horrible service — this actually happened to me– get ready– i’m at the bar I order a vodka soda the guy looks at me and start cleaning glasses and then starts picking up scraps and napkins and straws from the bar that were left. I looked him right in the eye and I said are you going to make my drink and he just started cleaning again. He looked like a wanna be fashionista with the beige sweater and a scarf around his neck and brown boots with the jeans tucked in. He was also ignoring another couple next to me that ordered and they actually turned to me and said what is his attitude problem and I don’t even know these people! Too many serious fundamental problems for this place to ever make it as a restaurant– but let’s just say they’re only here to make alcohol sales because they’re right next to the gondola– well they better hire some fast bartenders because fashionista man was a disaster!!! Too bad.

Nello Alpine is the newest place in Aspen. Nello himself made sure our meal was special. Although it’s new, Nello Alpine seemed to have everything wired. I especially liked the Lobster(pictured). Aspen is a unique and competitive market place. It’s important that Nello continues to bring his hands on management to Aspen. So far so good. Looking forward to trying it again. P. S. i love the dining room. Its open and inviting.

Nello Alpine provides a cozy, elegant atmosphere and delicious food. The waguyu filet mignon was so detectable, I wish I had saved more room on the fish and ceviche courses. Especially impressive as I heard the restaurant opened just this week. Nello, the owner, provides the hospitality, and the servers were very kind.

Nello Alpine is a new restaurant in Aspen. We had dinner at Nello on their opening night last night. The dining room is stunningly beautiful, the service attentive and fast and the food delicious; it’s a very special place. Highly recommended. Caveat: Nello Alpine is a new restaurant opening at the busiest time of the season so it’s only reasonable that they will have some service issues to work out. Expectations should be reasonable taking that into account. It’s about the food not the service.

Unrivaled Aspen dining experience. From the moment we walked into Nello Alpine till the unfortunate conclusion of our meal we were treated as royalty. Upon entering we were graciously greeted by the owner himself, Nello Balan. While waiting for a table we enjoyed some of the best craft cocktails I have ever had. I enjoyed a well balanced whiskey drink while my friend got the most amazing cucumber cocktail I have ever drank. Many beautiful socialites created a vibrant atmosphere around the bar. I won’t go into a play by play of our entire meal, but each item, no each individual element spoke volumes. Much like a conductor highlights individual talent in an orchestra, Nello Alpine illuminates individual ingredients in each dish. Could not be more pleased with our meal. Last but not least we have to mention the artwork and décor. Normally restaurants like Nello Alpine have a gaudy and vapid interior, but this décor really shows the true colors of the restaurant. The front of the restaurant has the most amazing melted spider web chandlers, and the walls are covered with some kind of interesting, vivid, fractal-esque art; never seen anything like it. Just the cherry on top of our epic experience. If you enjoy good food and an even better atmosphere I highly recommend Nello Alpine.

The restaurant has a great vibe, atmosphere and a perfect location to potentially be successful. The reason I’m giving nello a bad review is because the restaurant made our party wait to sit for almost 30 minutes, then wait another 40 minutes for a menu, and drink order came other 10 minutes after we waived the waiter down again. We ran out of water and wine 3 separate times for over 10 minutes each. They finally brought food out for everyone but forgot one person. When the forgotten dish finally came out 10 minutes later, they brought out the wrong dish saying«sorry we ran out of what you ordered but you can have this?» Needless to say, we sent it back. They tried to rectify the situation by taking the wrong fish dish off the check. No other compensations were awarded for all the horrible service received this night. This is hands down the worst service I have experienced.

Not ready for prime time … Not even close. The décor is beautiful and the staff really tried hard but after 1.5 hours of waiting for our food we left. Throughout the restaurant, you could hear the constant«I am sorry» from the staff. Not to mention that you have to walk through a construction zone to get into the restaurant. I am giving 2 stars as opposed to zero because the staff put in the effort and I feel bad for them. You could feel the dissatisfaction everywhere.

We arrived early for our reservation and sat at the bar. Very cool atmosphere and hip New York kind of vibe– but from the moment we walked in we felt invisible! We ordered drinks after they finally noticed us and some appetizers. Neither of which ever came! And after finally sitting at our table 45 minutes after our original reservation, and waiting for another 30 minutes for our main dishes– the food was so-so. Food: Shaved artichokes are literally just shaved raw artichokes with some truffle oil and some avocado and oil-actually not so great. Prosciutto was good. Main dishes were pretty yummy but after waiting for the food for so long i think we would have eaten anything! I was waiting for my lobster and eating the Parmesan from the balsamic bread dip from hunger! The pasta was undercooked, the ribeye was raw and cold and the lobster was good but served so strangely with it chopped up but IN the shell! I am only not giving it a zero because the staff was so apologetic and nice. This place needs to work out a few kinks before we would come back!

Wow! We came here on opening night and had the best meal we’ve had during our entire stay in Aspen. The chef prepared starters especially for our table because the place was packed and we had to wait a bit, but boy was it worth it. Recommended: the veal Milanese which was perfectly tender and thin, the way it’s supposed to be prepared. Truffle soup amazing. Very good wine selection. We had a ridge obsidian. The crowd was chic. Everyone was having fun, lots of happy conversations and lively music. There was a cool dj. The art was wild I’ve never seen anything like it. And the location and view unbeatable literally on the mountain. Also saw a few celebrities in there: Goldie hawn and Kurt Russell and a lot of beautiful people.

Nello opened last night in Aspen. My family and I had dinner there on its first seating. The food was excellent! The two best dishes were the tuna tar tar and angel hair. The service was also excellent. They worked around our various changes. I think it will be even better once they have gotten a bit more seasoned.
