This review is for the cafeteria portion of the Sundeck Restaurant. I was provided with a free lunch at the Sundeck through my employer, and I was shocked at how reasonable the prices are! I ordered a slice of cheese pizza($ 5.90) and a side salad. The salad was unimpressive, but the cheese pizza was wonderful! Much better than any normal cafeteria and many restaurants. The guys working there were crazy nice, and they were talking about how much they loved working here. That is always a good sign! My colleague ordered a salad, and he didn’t enjoy that. Heard the burgers were passable fast-food burgers. My suggestion is to stick with the pizza! There are plenty of drink options: Bottled drinks, hot chocolate, iced tea, fountain drinks, etc. If you do hike to the top of the mountain, there is Powerade in the fountain to get you rehydrated. There are a ton of large tables to choose from, and the panorama windows provide you with an amazing view while you eat! Shockingly good for being the only food on the top of the mountain!

Stay for the views. Leave for the food. Tried three entrees all awful. View was awesome and people who worked here were very nice.

The Sundeck is one of our faves when we are visiting Aspen. Like mentioned above: he food is a little bit hippie and a little bit trendy, but a whole lotta tasty. This is a typical description of the places we frequent in Aspen. The food is ecclectic and fun. love to eat there and bask in the sun outside.

To be clear this review is for the sun deck bar only, the ski cafeteria, view etc are all perfectly impressive the bar has consistently been a mess. Crappy service no personality, can’t get anyone’s attention whether they’re busy or not! People want to go to this bar it’s the only one at the top of the mtn, we’re a captive audience, imagine how much more pleasant it would be if the ski company hired competent, personable, efficient help. Not impressed.

The sundeck is cheaper than any other restaurant I went to in Aspen! The food was awesome too. This is the first time in my life I’ve paid less at a ski resort restaurant than a restaurant in town lol. The chicken cibatta was absolutely deliciously for $ 12.

Love it! Indoor tables have great panorama views and bathed in the sunset. It has a big burning place. The pizza is really good, large slice and tasty. The soup is also warm and tasty. And grab some beer. Had a great relaxing lunch!

If you’re eating in a cafeteria at a ski area, you expect to pay too much. The good thing about the Sundeck is that the food is actually quite tasty. They serve ski lunch staples like burgers and pizza slices, but the quality is good. A favorite of mine is the wok station, where made to order noodle dishes are served up. The grill line moves quickly-it’s nice to get a sandwich or burger fresh off the grill rather than wrapped up and sitting under a heat lamp. Baked goods are consistently satisfying. Add spectacular views to the decent food and you’ve got a winner.

The views are amazing! Whether you ski or not, it’s well worth the gondola ride up to the top. The foods ok, the hot chocolate is amazing(they also have marshmallows so you can add as many as you’d like). Plenty of seating, and cool fireplace.

We took a ride up the gondola to have lunch here. The views are amazing. It’s a little nicer ski lodge food with full bar. Stir fry was good along with the chili.

On top of Aspen Mountain summit. $ 12 burgers and sandwiches are expected. Many tables inside and a outdoor patio with breathtaking views.

If you are an off-road adventurer, then the ride up the back of Aspen Mountain might not be quite scary enough for you, but for me, it is pretty daring. Of course, most people arrive at the top of Ajax in a gondola or a ski lift. However you get here, the trip is 5-star worthy alone. I don’t even like nature, and the scenery up here takes my breath away(not just because the oxygen is thin either). Imagine a Bob Ross painting, and then, imagine it about 100x better than that. Here? Yes, I am at the top o’ the mountain right now in the Sundeck. The Sundeck doesn’t serve your average ski bum fare. Today I had a coconut vegetable soup that had all the brilliance of Thai but was loaded with kale and all sorts of good for you and your belly veggies. The food is a little bit hippie and a little bit trendy, but a whole lotta tasty. You can get duck quesadillas! The prices are expensive, yes– over $ 7 for a bowl of my soupy addiction, but hey, you’re paying for location, location, location and some solid ingredients. I also know from first-hand experience on more than one occasion that the staff at the Sundeck is top notch. They will take care of you like no other! Over the top view, incredible food and friendly peeps make lunch at the Sundeck an Aspen must for sure.

Three stars for the food… hearty and delicious. Not a huge menu or gourmet by any means like you expect in Aspen but… It has they most amazing view a little gondola ride up to the to of Ajax/Aspen Mountain and you get a 360 degree view of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Today was a gorgeous day with about 70 – 75 degrees at the summit and only a small breeze. which brings us to the extra star. Food ordered: 1. Delicious veggie sandwich well marinated and flavorful. 2. Fresh made to order green leaf(not Romain or iceberg :)) salads 3. Turkey/Bacon Club — crispy bacon and delicious hearty grilled bread. I imagine the restaurant to be an even better treat during the winter… where you can come in and defrost before hitting the slopes another time. In this respect is also one of classiest decorated on the slopes eatery I have ever seen.(However I come from the smaller slopes in the Sierras.) Enjoy the breath taking view and food.
